This is probably the most underrated NWOBHM compilation ever, everyone talks about Metal For Muthas etc, but not this. Some b'stard stole my copy (with my equally superb Scene Of The Crime compilation) and I've never been able to track it down either on vinyl (without a massively inflated eBay price!) or CD, so I'm so glad you've put it on here!!
Классная группа!!!!!альбом клёвый музыка и песни замечательные🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Omg 😮 I remember buying this from my local independent record shop, along with metal for muthas which was released the year before , I was 21 Jesus I still have the vinyls I'm now 64 and it sounds as good now as it did then I love this era of music , you're never too old to rock lol 🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘
She's No Angel the best music on this Album
She's No Angel melhor música do álbum
hell yes magic compo album for new wave of british heavy metal in 1980, which pretty much was the start of new wave of british heavy metal. a few good bands on here i know. oxym, vardis, and race against time became hell. all good songs here. glad someone finally put this up. #nwobhmforever
"Here is only 1 hour remaining to live"
My choice is 🤙🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥
Great compilation! Sad that no one of these bands had a sucess carrer! But there are very good groups and songs here! Total N.W.O.B.H.M. power!
'NWOBHM'!! 'GREAT'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As sad a sleeve as that is, that's how ferocious the comp within is. Sure these were all second-division no-hopers for the most part (though that's John Sykes tearing shit up on SHE'S NO ANGEL)....but that's precisely why I love NEW so much. There is an unspoiled innocence amidst the Ozzy-fingers and hell-and-motorcycles lyrics here that just tugs at you if you're a cerytan age. Also, this undeniable fact: the closer you are to the beginning, the truer and stronger the heartbeat that animates you.
OK, enuf from me. Let's hear some Jedediah Strut!
I like the sleeve, perfectly captures the spirit of that scene.
@@Tsotha Exactly!
@@Tsotha not so much. Most of the bands had really long hair, and rode Harleys not Kawasaki Dirt Bikes. This looks like a great album cover for a bunch of bands that sound like Bruce Springsteen, and John Cougar Mellencamp
I used to own this compilation. Mainly the more Agressive side of NWOBHM. There were some very unusual songs like the Hit , and the strange chorus of Oxym - Hot Rain which sounded like Her brain , her brain and a the tune to the chorus sounded like Thomas Dolby in contrast to the Judas Priest style of the rest of the song. Warrior sounded a little behind the times with their groovy Jimmi Hendrix style song, and Dawnwatcher sounded like a Prog band
I like how Tarot and Bastille both use the 2 Mins to Midnight riff and are next to each other on the album...
ShowRyuKen yeah! that was perfect...just remembering it was some years before "2 minutes to midnight" come up
Adrian Smith produced Bastille's first demo at Urchin's rehearsal studio in 1979.
ShowRyuKen but they used the riff BEFORE Maiden
Venom used that riff on "Welcome to Hell" first ;)
El mejor compilado que he escuchado
Sem duvida é uma excelente Coletânea que saiu em 1980/81, Tarot com Feel the Power e Streetfighter she's no Angel (John Sykes on guitar) são as melhores com certeza. 🎸🎤🎸🥁🔊🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
To the people being overly critical of this I don't get it....I understand what I am about to say doesn't change the rough production, amateur feel of some of the songs etc. I think people need to remember a few factors...some of these bands were young dudes in a time when losing a band member, band management etc meant the END of your band. Also some of these songs aren't heavy heavy, but not exactly weak for 78-80. I would never pretend these bands are as "good" as bands from the era that made it, but never forget a bad business deal, a few bad choices, or even some random family event destroyed many many bands from ever getting anywhere, and a lot of the bands we have since gone on to love could have fallen if a few things had gone differently. There are some pretty cool jams here enjoy them and be grateful
You really expect people of these ready made quick fix ADHD times to read your fantastic words ? ♥️
P.s. Venom were heavy heavy for this era 🤘😆 metal till the end
Love the kawi
Un excelente compilado para un buen soundratck para una buena tarde
Nice bike on the cover.
KL250
great to find all this stuff.Thanks.....
What a shame that none of the bands got a major sucesas in their careers! Goods song from very underrated groups! heavy metal simple and honest! If anyone here knows more about one of these bands, please, leave a message in the post, about it! I want more!!
You could check out the Roxcalibur compilation, it has that special vibe to it as well.
Also Dawn Watcher did a great song called Hall of Mirrors, and also the Oysters and Wine single by China Doll is quite special too.
Superb raw compilation!
Thanks
This sure takes me back. I used to have this album and 35 years later it's still sounding good! Streetfighter had a young John Sykes on lead guitar before he joined Tygers Of Pan Tang. So cool hearing these songs again. \m/
As well as once having Sykesy in the line up. Streetfighter also had Gary Taylor on drums who went on to join Tank and Merv Goldsworthy who went on to join Diamond Head then formed FM. No doubt this band spawned some superb musicians...
@@metallicsavage788 Street fighter is the most Agressive band on the Compilation . I used to own this, and some these songs were really stupid like Oxym - Hot Rain which sounds like a Metal version of Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science. It sounds like he's saying Her Brain, Her Brain, not Hot Rain . Streetfighter were definitely the best band on the Compilation . Vardis were awful, I bought an album by them every song sounds like Elvis Presley with a tone deaf Vocalist, and all their songs were identical. I paid $200 for a Dawnwatcher - Hall of Mirrors EP , and everyone who I played it for said they sound like a Country Western band
@@Hecatecrossways A Country and Western band with a theremin? Lol, Johnny Cash in space.
@@richardcrook2112 What I never understood about this album is it was a Metal compilation. Why do they have some Bruce Springsteen looking mutha Fucker with a Kawasaki on the cover, instead of someone who looks like Blackie Lawless with a Harley???
@@richardcrook2112 It just reminds of a 1980s Sitcom idea of what a Metalhead is supposed to look like. Or like the Metal fanboy on the Trick or Treat movie
amazing sound!
Like listening to bands outside a practice studio
NWOBHM!
A little sad listening to Bedtime. i only got to know it through Hell and the late Dave Halliday was the man who taught me how to play guitar
Nice ;)
Even though the album cover looks like something Bruce Springsteen would release the music is more aggressive than most of the NWOBHM Compilations
These B or maybe C class acts show NWOBHM's true colours.
Conozco la mitad de esos grupos y al children son pieza
The faster side of NWOBHM
That Is Underground
Dawnwatcher nicked pretty much most of "You Fool No One" by Deep Purple. Still a cool tune though
They're not fooling anyone! Well, not you anyway.
"Great but who are the band members."
buffalo best band on this
Pretty much explains why most of these bands never made it, unfortunately.
The singing on most of these songs is just atrocious!!!
There are much better obscure NWOBHM bands, this was a tad bit early so the music wasn't as "epic" as it could have been ... there was more of a rock 'n' roll touch unfortunately. But then again, I'm not sure you would have liked a compilation from 1982 or 1983 either if it's the lack of polish you are remarking on.
@@Bravilor 99% of the metal I listen to comes from the early 80s, and a fair amount of it could reasonably be called obscure. It's not about polish but about having an extra edge.
@@PatrickSamphire Yeah, in my eyes this was too early for bands to generally even be able to have that extra edge. It doesn't seem like it had been able to sink into musicians' minds that you yourself could actually play like Judas Priest already did in 1978, but instead they most often opted for a bland heavy rock style.
Streetfighter sound like Sledgehammer

I have this on CD, great bands great jams but dumb band names!
Smoke some reefer come up with some simple riff work a song around it book an hour of studio time go to a cheap label conducted out of a mechanics spare garage release it and here you have nwobhm
Great bands, great music, but oh my GOD what an abysmal cover - embarrassing beyond belief and designed by a person with all the social skills of a lettuce.
Simon Berry Yeah, but kind of charming all the same!
Simon Berry The guitarist is obviously vetting the air guitarists for suitability.Hence the trials bike.Maybe the contest is taking place up north on the Moors.
+Simon Berry Odd that they used a Kawasaki and not an British bike, such as a Triumph.
Celtic Saint I've a feeling they borrowed it off of one of their mates
Maybe they were pressed for time.
Some of these songs have potential, but overall this stinks.
Then why do I love it so much?
