  • Renowned psychologist examines how mindfulness can transform our well-being.
Can you heal faster just by tricking your brain? Could you lose weight with only a change of mindset? Could you think yourself into being younger? If you think the answer to all these questions is no, you haven’t read the research from renowned Harvard University psychologist Ellen Langer.
Langer is a bit of a legend. She’s the first woman to ever receive tenure in psychology at Harvard, and her work has earned her the moniker: “The Mother of Mindfulness”. Her 40-year research career into the mind-body connection-and how mindfulness can hack that system-has delivered some unbelievable results that she believes hold the key to revolutionizing our health. She complies all of her work in her latest book “The Mindful Body: Thinking Our Way to Chronic Health.”

I am am a teacher who became allergic to all antibiotics 30 years ago. I mostly healed myself with silver solution and homeopathic remedies, only when I really thought I couldn't heal on my own. I find it so amazing and I would rather not see a doctor.

It is so interesting that authors who are promoting their books invariably say the same thing in each interview. There is little variation and thus it is not interesting to listen to them more than once. It would good to vary the conversation or interview a bit, not just the same stories that are told over and over.

yeah, I stopped wearing my cheaters about 3 months ago and my vision has improved immensely. Now, I do notice when I eat high carb meals, my vision is blurry, so I don't eat a lot of things like pasta and bread, and sugary sweets. I also notice that it helps my vision a lot when I stay hydrated. I also notice that when I'm looking at my cell phone for a long time that makes my vision much more blurry.. As a result I don't use my cell phone as much as I used to.

Might be interesting to consider the argument of not being mindful and it’s value. The reduced stress for those incapable of being mindful. For them ignorance is bliss. Being mindless and in autopilot allows more energy to go to parts of the brain that can be very creative like the Default Mode Network, like when you stop thinking about the problem and take a walk and then the answer hits you.

This is awesome about how her mom had a spontaneous remission of pancreatic cancer - holy smokes!!! Yes in the hospital and "care units" they consistently ask you, "ARE you in PAIN? What is your level of PAIN!? I've never heard the word PAIN PAIN PAIN more in life!" Wow talk about negative thinking!!!

Look into vedic knowledge systems and will find the power of mind. What the yogis were able to do with mind power was mind blowing. Until our culture got systematically destroyed by the colonists

How can you call her ' mother of mindfulness ' when the Buddha and thousands of Indian yogis, gurus, mystics have been teaching this for thousands of years?
