Ali/Rob, even though it was Brentford at home, the crowd were up for this game. They sang loud and proud throughout, and Brennan Johnson’s name could be heard reverberating around the stadium on more than a few occasions. Of course, I joined in with gusto. Onto the game. A sloppy start and the ball given away by Kulusevski, led to Brentford take an early lead through Mbeumo. If I wanted to be harshly critical, VDV should have closed Mbeumo down to prevent their goal. Apart from that VDV had a very good game. However, Brentford’s lead didn’t last long. A smart interception by Maddison led to him taking a shot which the keeper parried for Solanke to score an easy first goal, to kick start his Spurs goal-scoring career. Another Maddison interception, had him pass to Son who played the ball to Johnson, who scored with a neat finish in the far corner. The strike had the stadium singing his name, loudly. A good assist for Son, who was off his short game, today. Son was not alone, because Vicario was sloppy at times and not at his error-free best, even though he did produce some good saves. The third goal came when Romero made a long forward pass to Son who gained his second assist by passing square to Maddison, who finished with a cool chip over the rushing goalkeeper. More about the game. The midfield-3 of Bentancur, Maddison and Kulusevski worked well, with Bentancur sitting deep and Maddison and Kulusevski pulling the strings. Kulusevski was exceptional and easily Man-of-The-Match for the amount of ground he covered. Kulusevski was everywhere. It’s a wonder where he gets the energy to make surging-runs, so late in the game, and he was unlucky with a shot at goal. I am sure it won’t be long before Kulusevski gets back on the score sheet. We showed good energy and pressed hard throughout the game. Solanke will revel in this system. I was particularly pleased with our urgency and tackling to win back the ball. Brentford were limited to long balls and getting men forward every time they had a corner or free kick. Still, a one goal lead is never comfortable, and we left it late to get a third when we should have been out of sight. Overall, our shape was good, and we kept 3 & 4 defenders back for most of the game. If we cut out the needless errors under the system, we will have a very good season. COYS.
Enjoyable read made all the easier by the use of punctuation, sadly missing in these days of our dumbed down education system.
@@Armoris6247 I understand if fans disagree with my MOTM.
cheers geoff
Where was Romero when Mbuemo scored ?? It was in his area of the defence , not VDV .

Best Tottenham Show
Great to see Maddison returning to his early season form of last season when he was being hailed as the best signing of that summer before losing his form after Chelsea. Would love to see him continue on his current trajectory this season- he and Kulusevski are two of the cleverest and most skilful players in the league and could form a formidable partnership in the games to come. COYS the potential is there.
Was really really happy to see Ange bring on two fresh players with 20-30 to go. So important when your style is the hard press. Hopefully see Vic kick long on more occasions when under pressure, one to release the pressure valve, and two-it actually helps the spurs try to score as the low block is not in place. Big fan off playing from the back, just not when under pressure all the time.
Some of his long passes were really good in this game. I think that’s an area he’s been a bit lacking so good to see he’s obviously working on it
@ Guesty I am in total agreement that Bentancur was truly exceptional. Had Maddison not had such a Killer game he would have easily got MOTM
I liked Hojbjerg and Skipp, but seeing Madds drop deep to receive the ball from the back line and, instead of passing back, or sideways, turn and take the ball forward was a revelation.
Very few players can be a top performer for a whole season, stamina, injurys and mental tiredness take their toll and writing off a player after 20 games is a typical pass time, Spurs need to protect their classy players, Foden is a player that needs protecting and plays selected games, same as Stones.
For some reason the Nord vpn ad cracks me up😂
"The game is about glory. It is about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.” Danny Blanchflower.
Postecoglu goes to the same footballing church as Blanchflower. The game is glorious and we've the most attack minded manager in football. I love it.
Hi gents - with a lack of FB’s, would it be worth trying more of a 343?
We had less possession because there was less of wasted pointless back and side passes as we normally do.
Brilliant Game on saturday.
Ange Tweaked.
The left and right back were not too inverted.
Mbuemo has been linked with liverpool as a potential salah replacement
His teammates have hardly utilised Solanke's strengths , balls in behind , and early crosses into the box for him , have been few and far between . If the team play to his strengths , there's no doubt he'll deliver goals .
OOP'S commented before watching the full Podcast. 😊
So, the day when Maddison scores a goal once a year becomes a National Holiday of England, while Son, who saved Tottenham from getting battered again by making big chances and assists, is blamed by critics, pundits, and media for missing a 1 to 1 chance.
Interesting! Humans are not so elegant an animal as Shakespear shouted.
Really ? God you must be truly exhausted ! I mean totally drained .
Why don’t you start up a UA-cam channel only praising Sonny called Sonny does no wrong
@@BelgianHotspur Truth is always painful, but face it, Mr. Undrained.
@@deandrury4330 Do not be mistaken. I am talking about fairness and elegance, not worshipping.
Big up both ! Happy with the takeover at Everton???
Pleased for Mr Guest supporting Everton and writing about spurs the man has suffered
@@stewarteldridge5498 indeed that was my point but yet to get a reaction from Guesty ever!
That could be cause I kept asking for a t shirt with his head on it which is apparently his worst nightmare. 🤣 He
Hee hee
Is there any rule that says you can’t have 3 goal keepers and 8 outfield players??? Lol
Ali/ Rob/ anyone reading: how would you have rated Johnsons performance had he not scored? More over, had Spurs not won? Goals and victories tend to scew opinions. I rhink he is a good talent with big potential but still underperforming
And lacking in confidence
He's too right footed and needs to dribble inside a bit more
I agree wholeheartedly about outcomes and individual ratings. If a player puts in a performance that might be rated 8 in a winning team he will be rated 5 or 6 if the result goes against his side even lthough his own individual effort remains the same. I am happy with our performances this year without being too chuffed with the results.
That’s what confuses me!
The kid was dangerous all game scores a goal into side netting that couldn’t be better and still people are negative. Yeah he’s not perfect but maybe the best way to get him performing consistently is praising him when he does play well and boosting his confidence ?
Just thought 💭 🤷♂️
PS he played an almost full game midweek and pressed like a warrior .
@@maxccolwell Johnstone reminds me of Bale's in his early days. Player in there, somewhere?
I would love for Spurs to bring in Mbuemo and Semanyo
The Max Robson situation is just strange; club trained but too old to be on the B-list. Two open spots that could ONLY be taken by CT-players. As he was left out, he can´t be seen as even remotely good enough for the team now or in the future - so why is he still at the club? To fill out the numbers at the U21 team?
I don’t think we have the squad to make 7/8 changes by that I don’t need numbers but quality.
I think a few players have yet to be seen enough to know fully, depending on say Archie Grays midfield performances or if werner can find some form etc. Be great to see Mikey Moore in a game like this and get a real sense as to where he is
Vic concerns me more than the way we are playing. I believe he makes the defenders around him very nervous. He flaps when he should catch and he is not commanding in the penalty area. Like most goalkeepers he berates his defenders too much. He does not appear to take responsibility but pass it on to the defenders.
