Fun fact: British line infantry not only has the best accuracy of any other standard line unit, but also has a higher melee defence. So melee is not a bad idea for them.

We almost got into a war because of south africa colonial control! It calls "the pink map"! In fact the national anthem is about about and it was created because of that! Original version lyrics was".. Contra os bretoes marchar, marchar.." "against the britons march, march", but it was changed because our ruler in that moment reatreated from the english threat of war! all that's good about portugal are their phenomenal light infantry; everything else is mediocre or sucks (that awful cav...) Unfortunately for other factions, light infantry in general is ridiculously strong in this game.
Portugal has the best skirmishers in game,they are soo good..love them and also portugal has a very desent foot infatry units,though their weak units are the cavalry!
I just lost 2 grief mode games on COD BO 2 Zombies (It was 1v3 and 1v2 cuz everyone on my team left). Came here to calm down and relax and I can tell that your videos are really good if you just want to relax after playing video games :)
putting those three units in their is just a waste of a unit (or in this case THREE!) they burn through their ammo quicker-easily avoided- and get less kills only ever put a shitty unit in there and only if you really have to maybe a militia then it would be cost effective but even then using the building is just a waste of time could do a lot more if those muskets were firing from an open line. (i understand tactically in real life that building probably would be crucial, but in this game using the buildings is almost a death sentence do to the sheer lack of fire-power you can throw out of them, anyway good commentary! :) P.S why portugaul did not bring skirms makes no sense to me there only real threat is there skirmishers due them being a minor nation those line wont stand up to British line but he is probably a new ish player, a similar issue with the British army he brought to many elite troops and should of just brought the 2 Foot Guards and the rest line then some lights and for this map British rifles(any rifle troops really) really come into their own on maps like this the early herass you can get with those can be a real game changer, and the british really wasted their money on that cav tbh he should of just brought the lightest cav or just brought hussars, british cav in this game are really bad lol horse guards are good but just are not cost effective enough the stakes were good idea but not placed correctly, apart from all this its nise to see some knew players still coming to these older total war titles :)
I remember an history about napoleon in porto city wheres i live there was a bridge made of boat and when napoleon invaded porto they cuted the bridge and they have falled in water

I Think that in Napoleon Total War they should add tactics like where you have three musket lines, first line fires then ducks, second one fires and ducks , third line fires and ducks. Just after 3rd line fire the 1st line fires cause they reloaded while duckcing then stand and fire again, then second line fires, then third. rather than one big fire then wasting time, this tactic means non-stop fire every long second. +Pixelated Apollo
I know this is REALLYYYYY old but, that’s called fire by rank and historically it was only used against cavalry because after the first rank fired the second and third rank couldn’t see past the smoke so could only hit large targets. In really they used fire by platoon where a group of 16 or so three ranks deep would fire then the next group would fire, then the next down the line.
Hello Apollo, just wanted to say that I like your videos a lot and to give you sort of a tip for this video. At 13:47 the game didn't froze, they battle was paused. Not by you, by the players during the live battle. Pauses during live battle for some reason exist in replays as well. :) Also a fun fact. Portuguese infantry is weaker that cazadores(their skimirshers) in melee and in morale. :D

PLEASE ANSWER APOLLO, What Graphic setting to i need to have on or off to keep the game from blurring my troops textures when i am a certain distance away? its really annoying because i know my computer can handle that small texture change and it completeley ruins the cinematic ambiance
okay is it just me or there were alot of low intelligent plays. For example, pushes with cav, almost 100% suicidal in order to break through, which is fine if you follow up with you inf, but no inf just stay back and watch how you wasted a whole unit doing nothing.
Sorry for the repeat but would empire work on a laptop only because Empire / napoleon because I'm British i find that in medieval 2 England/ Britain isn't represented that well. Pixelated also just a tip you know on mediaeval you know when you call some factions the bas word can you only do it on empires that no longer exist

in total war there is a mistake it's not cazadores it's caçadores and it's not tiradores it's atiradores I'm not angry I'm just saying

Problem was, Great Britain exhausted his troops, should've given them rest. What's the point of charging tired men into battle?
