Been using this to record my podcasts remote ever since I seen this video. Can't recommend this enough!
Between this account my wife's and my account I've been watching you for years and I have to be honest you look so damn healthy and happy and I just love it you're a very good person you've been a great inspiration with me knocking down reverberation clean connections understanding frequencies
Mike, I failed to mention that I'm very happy to see a new video from you. Thank you for all the help you've given us over the years, you are a gifted communicator. Thanks
I'll be honest I first used this for a podcast, now I'm using it as a replacement for general calling because for the first time in history my friend doesn't break up on every other word! Thanks for the suggestion Mike I really appreciate it!
This is insane!!! IN-SA-NE. Perfect timing. OMG I went to bed last night at 5am looking for something like this and I found it!!!! Thanks man! 😎
Thank you for turning me on to Clean Feed! I just started implementing it in my podcast. My host and I are remote from each other. We used to record our audio locally then he would send his file to to me via FTP, I would then take it and line up the tracks and edit for content. Now, as soon as the recording is over, I have two perfectly synced tracks ready for editing. The audio quality is fantastic! Thanks, again!!!
I've been using Cleanfeed to record guests on my podcast for over a year now, and it is by far the most reliable service I have used. None of the lag or ducking that you get with Skype or many of the other services.
As Program Director for a tiny volunteer-run low-power-FM radio station, this is AWESOME, Mike. Thanks! We're trying to keep the station running while everybody stays home, even though we are technically allowed to continue operating our studio (radio being an "essential service"). Just wanted to let you know I have been watching all your videos over the past several days and you are a great teacher. Your delivery on what your teaching is spot on. Easy for newbies (like me) but yet an experienced person would not be bored. I appreciate the content you have given us, it is much better than that of others I have found, and believe me, I’ve found a lot. Thanks again. I have been able to learn so much in my quarantined days!! Please keep teaching us😊
Mike, Ran across this video. Ive got to say...I'm impressed with audio quality of both feeds. Signed up for a free account. Within minutes I called my son....just to test it....but forgot to plug in mic......I'm the dummy this time. LOL Also had him on Duo so he could hear and see me. And I could see him. The audio was crystal clear in my earbuds, in fact better than any audio I've heard in anything. Will more than likely purchase pro version.
Been watching your videos for sometime now and found great advise and of course things I didn't know. Recently I turned a unused closet (2'x4') into my first vocal booth...think it will be perfect. Thanks for all you do.
Mike, you saved my life just now (maybe literally). Was supposed to be interviewed for a local school gathering tomorrow, but since social distancing is now a thing they wanted to post the interview online for the kids to watch. They wanted me to come to the school and sit with the interviewer but I felt uncomfortable leaving the house for a one on one interview... Just sent the clean feed link and we are all set to conduct the interview tomorrow, and I don't even have to leave the booth! Thank you for posting this!!!
Hallucinogenichusky oh ok thanks for the tip.
Me and my sister (who lives about 400 miles away from me) were just thinking about starting a podcast and Cleanfeed could be really useful!
You probably won't read my comment, but I would like to let you know that often I get distract and don't understand totally what you are saying being overwhelm by your calming and comforting voice.
Love from Montréal,
Alexandre
I have now watched this an extra time, I was shocked at how good the audio was, I have been working on a solution for this very problem. I decided to solve the video problem by having the person on the other end just record on their end, and then send it to me to make a video afterwards. I know this is more work, but I have never been happy with Zoom recording quality, and would rather not clog bandwidth with bad video.
Thank you so much!
Thankyou Millions Mark...You are changing the game...Earth changer for me...My 1 and half year research stops here at Cleanfeed....myGod blowing invention Maaaarkkk...Thanks lots
He's back!!! I was wondering where he went and kept looking for him. Glad to see he is back.
This was excellent. This is going to help me a lot. I have been trying to figure out the best (cleanest) way to do remote recording for a project we have been planning.
I've also heard good things about Clearcast (dot io), but Cleanfeed's free tier is (at least from the site information I found at a glance) more generous.
Mike your videos are revelation. Truly excellent. 2 weeks ago I was going out of my mind setting up my own home studio for work but now I feel much more at ease using bother Reaper and Cleanfeed.
Keep dropping the knowledge!
going to have to give this a shot. my cohost struggles at times with his quality over video calls and ive been trying to find a quality software or site to do quality calls. glad to see this has numerous recommendations
I've been looking through your videos and MAN you have lost a lot of weight! Proud of you.
I'm not sure how I missed this video but recently I've in the need of such a program! Thanks a lot Mike!
we were just wondering how to make a podcast from a distance with my friend and you uploaded this golden video...
Mike, the CAD E100s is on sale right now on B&H for $199. (Sale ends at midnight) Just got it because of your videos. I saw it pop up and I thought of you. Haha. Love your content. Cheers from North Carolina.
Mike, we are more socially connected than ever before. Please share that thought. Physical contact is the separation, not social. Love your work man.
I agree entirely! Greetings from Mexico
I admit I was quite impressed. I opened an account, and I'll dig deeper into the technical side of things, how they are doing that (is that a new implementation of opus, or something else?), is that lossless (the only thing I could describe as "studio quality"), and so on. Only support Chrome is a big letdown, and can be a deal breaker in pro environment where people don't know or can't change away from Firefox or Safari.
On thing though strikes me from the get go: no mute function. Having a mute function, and having the ability to bind it to anything, is to me a deal breaker. I do longform VOIP, with hours and hours long communication for various thing including something similar to shared drama. But you can cough, or vape, or step away from the conference for a quick drink, or having a dog bark under your window, or any dozens of reasons to need to instantaneously mute your mic. I personally always bind mouse 6 to this (an extra, extra button dedicated to VOIP mute, different from the basic usual 5 buttons setup) mic mute toggle and it's extremely useful. I can't imagine doing those VOIP communication without it.
It's late, I wasn't clear: you can mute yourself with the mouse obviously, but you can't bind it to something else. When you're taking notes, or watching the video feed of the conference, or using a virtual white board, or any thing like that that Cleanfeed tab will be buried. At the very least away on a second or third screen, or behind windows and others tabs. Being able to bind it to an extra mouse button, or F12 or other key, and being able to use that bind even when the tab is out of focus, is critical to me but more importantly could be extremely useful for a lot of people imo.
HiMike! In my booth there isn’t a window for a monitor so I use an iPad to connect to my computer (with a wireless mouse). That way I can be in the booth and have full control of the computer without any noise. The program I use to control my laptop is called Splashtop. It’s super helpful and it works across platforms. It’s definitely on my top list of favourite programs as a good compromise for being able to use your computer in your booth when you can’t have access to a dual monitor etc. Thanks!
Thanks for bringing this on to my radar Mike! Now if we can just get clean, ultra low latency video, then I'll never need to leave home again 😂
Dude I love how genuine your smile is. I genuinely feel better seeing it. And my RPG gaming group is gonna try Cleanfeed because of endless issues with other services. I know you're a studio recording kinda guy, but this has a lot of potential for other users too I feel!
Holy Moly Mike! My podcast interviews voice actors and THIS IS PERFECTTTT!!!!! Thank you!!
Yes! it's so nice to see you often on YT again Mike. We'll definitely start using Cleanfeed for our new weekly podcast :)
Mike you are knock'n it out and this is awesome !!! not to mention you guys sounded smooth and clean !!! Thank you !! MARK, stay blessed !!
This is EXACTLY what I need! Just had this question come in this week about doing directed sessions. Thanks so much Mike!
Can I do guitar lessons from the U.S. to Germany with cleanfeed? I'm going to it this out in two days and see what happens. Almost zero latency would be awesome. That's the problem with sound over other connections.
Bro the haircut looks good. Best I’ve seen it on the channel
I can recommend Squadcast. You get a 16bit WAV file for every participant, which are always synchronised and you also have video, which is important for me as a podcaster. So it's like Skype, but with great audio and internal recording. Also it's really easy for non-tech-savvy guests.
By the way i listen to ASMR everynight to fall asleep. Mark's voice almost knocked me out.
Ok before you used to look like Mark Hamil playing old Luke and now you look like Bruce Greenwood playing captain Pike in Star Trek, as a fan on both as well as your channel this makes me very happy.
Your content is fantastic Mike! Thank you and keep it up. Also CLEANFEED, y'all are amazing for giving as much in the free version as you have. Incredible product.
This is great content Mike. And you couldn't be more right about how creativity has risen. Yes, for artists there's not a time we're looking to collaborate and work with each other on projects, as now. Interact and enlighten each other, as you're doing here. This is great stuff. I love it
What's that white curve thing at the back of the mic? Is that a pop filter? It looks cool and illuminated!
Its this octo pop filter for shotgun mics. www.google.com/amp/s/www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1181606-REG/the_hook_studios_thpf842s_front_address_pop_filter.html/amp
Fabulous! I've been searching for something like this. You've done it again Mike - Always ahed of the pack!
Currently my cohost and I are recording on two separate Zoom H5s and sharing files. This seems like a great audio option. As a video podcast, we’d have to sync the cleanfeed with our Skype screen recording. Sounds like a plan.
Thank you for the demo! I will use this for all my remote podcasts from now on!
OMG! Finally!! 😁😁😁 I've been waiting for something like this!!!!❤❤
It's nice seeing new vids every few days. Keep up the good work, Mike!
Thank you so much for creating great content. My podcast listeners appreciate all that I've learned from your channel.
Hey Booth Junkie, for your next mic review, you should check out the Austrian Audio OC18 / OC818. I think you'll be blown away.
So helpful!! Brilliant to let us know about this service and the difference between both pro and free versions, in particular, during this quarantine time.
The haircut is looking good, Mike!
This is great, i couldnt get in for an intervie and made it through this as audio only and it works amazingly
OMG, thank you so much for this video! We’ve had to start recording our weekly podcast through Skype now because of all the restrictions due to this unprecedented time, and the audio is so bad! Even if I’m using my Blue Yeti microphone, the audio quality isn’t there. Ive been looking at ways to get the best audio quality and I’m so glad you’ve made me aware of this. I’m definitely going to start using this. Brilliant video! Thank you.
Thanks for this, Mike. Gold. I have been testing the free version (which is great) over the last couple of days but already see the benefits of Pro so I'm going Pro. Great find. Cheers
Hi, MIke, B.Js.
I recently bought cheap (400euro) Sennheiser 418s P48.
There are not many reviews around.
What is you opinion on this mic if you have ever met one?
And since it is Mid-Side mic, can it be used in M-S mode for voiceover or could it be anyhow beneficial for it?
Great channel!
Thanks
I think I may have just found a replacement for Source Connect Now. The GUI looks very DAW which makes it very C-O-O-L! Thanks Mike!
Thank you so much. This sure is one of the best things I think you have ever shared with us. Great content and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video Mike. I discovered Cleanfeed a couple of weeks ago through another youtube channel and we're planning on using it when we record our podcast this week. Nice to hear it in action though! Keep the great videos coming!!!
Hi, can you make a review on the Samson Satellite Microphone. Thank you for the awesome videos.
This is *exactly* what I needed! Thank you so much for sharing this and the quick tutorial on how to use it. As always, thanks for your excellent videos and advice. Be safe. Be kind. Wash your hands.
Nice overview of Cleanfeed. I've used it a couple times with vo friends and it's been solid and easier to use than their other more robust offering, ipDTL. It would be great to see further options on the pro side like flac uncompressed audio or straight pcm for studio sessions. If that works well, it will be more flexible than other software based studio connections. The opus codec Cleanfeed uses is good; some studios would love the ability to get an even 'cleaner' feed with uncompressed audio from talents or studios.
As an example, there's a tv network I connect with each week using a hardware codec (either the Comrex Bric-link ii or the Telos Z/IP). We originally were connecting with AAC at 256 kbps. One day I suggested we try straight PCM, which requires about 1.6 Mbps on the Telos. It worked perfectly for an hour long session. The Comrex offers a Flac option and that further reduced the bandwidth needed to around 800 kbps and sounded every bit as good as PCM. It's good to have options. Thanks again for the overview!
Thanks for this! Just discovered your videos. Do you have any on mic technique? How to frame your mouth to eliminate breathing and mouth sounds on the mic etc? Thanks x
This is a fantastic app. Thanks for doing this video about it!
Thank you for sharing this information! Sounds very promising, will certainly give it a try.
thank you!! i never heard of this before but i knew there must be some way. i will be using this!!
Thanks for doing this video. How can I connect my RodeCaster Pro mixer to a cleanfeed session? Is the pro account necessary?
I wonder if Cleanfeed will ever interface with Ecamm Live... what a bonus that would be.
Excellent.. looks like a great option for VO / podcasts.. lookin' forward to playin' around with this.
Interesting, thank you! Would be interested to know what the latency is...
Hi Mike, can you please recommend a mic for livestream. Using it from my home in a non treated area. I like the Neumann 102, sennheiser 416, it’s primarily used for spoken word. I’m okay, if there is some room noise, I’m just unsure at this point, if it will be usable. Thx
Mike, what are the appropriate settings for the Mac in terms of input and output with Cleanfeed when using a USB mic?
I'm curious as to what Marks setup was for this conversation. His voice had decent quality. Also Mike I miss seeing more of your stuff.
Main crisp thing from anchor is ..When multiple voice talks simultaneously...It cancels each other and dissolves ...Some words are swallowed, dissolved ...But Cleanfeed clearly records each and everyone...
Thank you for letting us know that you are doing well
Hey mix -- I have the same Sennheiser and LOVE it for voice over -- but I cant find that pop filter you have for it anywhere! I would really love a link.
Thank you Mike for always keeping us informed
Could you point me in the direction of how to import the audio from Cleanfeed into either zoom or a DAW.
More videos Mike - I need my fix. Let's see your workflow in post.
Is it possible to do a Band Rehearse from our individual houses ?
Giving good qaulity without the Mics interupting.
peter scarfe let me know if u have tried it for band rehearsal, and if there is no delay? Thanks
Hi MIke this Pop filter in your video is a good one? where can I find it? and what happened to the mic foam?
What is the difference between cleanfeed and Zencastr?
Hi Mike, I was wondering, how would you record Cleanfeed into Reaper or any DAW? I'am a bit stumped at how to go about it.
Mike, pretty much all the time I interview people for the podcasts they don't have a mic they speak into. What requirements do people on the other end need? Can the system just pick up the voice alone by itself? Thanks, I'm a big fan of your work.
Hi Mike... I am trying to use the "free" version of Cleanfeed... have tried tweaking every sound/audio setting I can think of and cannot get any mic input on the studio side... no sign of life in the "green" vu meter. I have a home studio: mic > dbx 286s> Mackie mixer> Focusrite - 6i6. I use inputs 3/4 on the 6i6 and the 3/4 outputs as well to control room speakers. This signal chain works perfectly through both Audition CS6 and Reaper 6 (by the way your vids on Reaper have begun to pry me away from CS6 since it's no longer supported by Adobe!!) Apparently there is not even minimal support from the Cleanfeed folks for those using free version. I recall the free version of source connect would only recognize inputs 1 and 2 on an audio interface. Do you know if that's the case with free Cleanfeed? Muchas gracias for any direction you can give me. I would gladly pay for the pro version if it didn't require a monthly subscription and of course that would be without knowing if going Pro would provide a solution. P.S love your vids... pls keep 'em comin'
@booth Junkie Morning Mike! Hope you're well and keeping safe. I wondered, do you still use Reaper and consider it a great option of Beginners? Or, would you recommend anything else for a home set up? Thanks a mil and stay safe bud! Peter, Vancouver Canada
Hi i have a request for you to do a review on the elegiant sorry there is two and tje mic is round on the tip
Hey B.J., I have a problem that I cant seem to solve in regard to Cleanfeed. First of all it sounds fantastic, however when the recipient of my connection starts replying, they hear an echo of themselves. Now I know what you're going to say, headphones to mic bleed and so on but firstly I've had this problem with multiple recipients. Secondly I use an USB mixer with loopback function which supposedly mix/minuses automatically. Please, please help, I love this Cleanfeed doohickey but for my purposes, this problem is making it virtually unusable. Equipment list. Notepad Fx 12, Sennheiser 416, Reaper, M50 headphones. Thank you.
I tested this service last week. And I concur that its great! Great minds...... :)
I am planning to broadcast live local sporting events on my Internet radio station and I think Cleanfeed would help. However, I have a question about talkback. If I initiate the Cleanfeed from my Studio PC and have a laptop with an audio interface and two mics at the game, I can see how easy it would be for me to put this on the air. But how about setting up a talkback to be able to communicate with the announcers in the commercial breaks. Is there a way to do that? If I open my mic to talk to them during the spots, my mic would go live over the air. Looking for some suggestions or someone to help level set me on what I might be missing here. Thanks!
I see you've got your Stellar X2 box in the background. I'm loving mine.
Hey Mike, do you think that using an expensive XLR cable (such as Livewire) is worth it? Do you prefer a certain brand of XLR cable?
Awesome! You keep bringing us classic content with mic comparisons and new and exciting stuff like this, keep it up! And Thank you!!
Hey man, I love your videos. Do you have any videos on mic stands and booms? I'm finding it surprisingly hard to find good videos on the best affordable mic stands and booms/attachments set up for home vocal booths.
would this be possible for remote live music recording? Having the producer in the studio and the artist with mic + laptop + interface at a remote location. Whats the highest quality possible?
Yay Cleanfeed. Made producing a show so much easier.
Hey Mike, I'm not sure if your reading this comment but I am working on a home studio, now I want this studio to have the effect of a professional studio, but it's also going to be my normal work space. I want to acoustically treat the walls around me, but then I want to hang a skateboard deck on the wall, to give it some character. I don't know how much this would effect the setup or if it would completely ruin the setup. Let me know. Thanks!
I know is not directly related to the video topic but Mike, what are your thoughts on upgrading to Catalina and Reaper?
At 9:47 "we wanna stay focused on audio" there seems to be a glitch in Mark's audio stream - may I ask if that is actually something that happened in cleanfeed? I guess my willingness to pay for a pro account is highly dependent on the reliability of the service even under difficult circumstances.
That was very interesting, the audio was very clean. Thanks for the information and stay safe...
Hey, im thinking of getting a new microphone (it has to be USB), for gaming/Streaming i have seen so many videos but i can't decide on wich one to get, i was looking to spend at max 100 euros, what is your recomendation?
ty for your time.
Hey Mike, I was wondering - Do you have any advice for developing a charismatic, attractive voice for voice-over? I'm guessing a vocal coach would be best, but given the current world circumstances, I was wondering if you have any of your own tips.
