I can understand an interviewer trying to establish trust or rapport with their sources, but it came off like she was just trying to defend herself and clear her own name. Why was any of that relevant to mention? If those things aren’t true, it would be more professional to not mention them at all.
Saying "I'm not being paid by Jamie Spears", a couple of times was odd enough. Every single time she said it, after the first time. Just made it appear that she was in trouble with the Spears team. And they told her, "get those people off your ass. Or, we'll have to find someone else. Who doesn't have the attention of that group". It ultimately came off as desperate on her part.
I used to have a little 3-year-old neighbour whom I was quite fond of. She moved; it’s sad. But anyway, when she still lived next door, she came swimming in my pool one time. At some point she started informing us all that she did NOT pee in the pool. Nobody asked, but she kept repeating her announcement. So obviously, she had, indeed, peed in the pool. Whenever someone insists repeatedly that they did not do something, you can be sure they did. It’s human nature I guess, but you’d think most people would grow out of it around age 4 or 5. But here’s Chloe still trying too hard to convince everyone that she did NOT “pee in the pool,” so to speak.
I agree that Chloe is on Jamie's side and that she is a liar. BJ has done a great job putting together clips Chloe contradicting herself and defending Jamie. Whether she is on his payroll, kissing up to someone who is, or motivated in some other way, I don't care. Her manipulative actions are self evident. However the logic that everyone who insists they are innocent must be guilty doesn't hold up. Even in the innocuous pee in pool case there are possible explanations besides speaking out of guilty conscience:(1) She has peed in the pool in the past and been corrected for it and she felt the need that day to show she did something different than her reputation would bid you to expect, and/or (2) Someone who peed in the pool as a kid was reluctant to bring her to the pool thinking she would pee and only let her after she promised not to pee. She would have thought she needed to give feedback that she kept her word and did not fail as predicted, (3) She overheard someone talking about how much pee they [probably correctly] estimate is in public swimming pool. She wanted everyone to know the pee wasn't hers. I don't know what is the case with this one kid. Maybe she has a pattern of defending herself only when she feels guilty. However, not everyone has the luxury of only expecting trouble when they actually do something wrong. If you look at the innocence project, not all the people exonerated by DNA evidence made false confessions. Some truthfully said "I didn't do it," when they didn't do it, and continued insisting. Even those forced to make false confessions were sometimes convinced trying to defend themselves made them guilty. Early experience being punished for stuff you didn't do, and parents always looking at you like you're the embodiment of Murphy's law can make kids defensive. Worse: Living with people who have major baggage, project their faults on others, have paranoid schizophrenia, get others to take the blame for stuff they do etc. can make victims hypervigilant. The more you falsely accuse someone, the more their sense of a just world will be pulverized and the more guilty they will look 24/7. Chloe isn't guilty of lying because she says she's telling the truth. She's guilty of lying because the truth contradicts her.
She has definitely benefitted by being on the WRONG side, rather it be in gifts, money or maybe even past or future favors promised I'm 99.99% sure she's being paid some way some how by someone on "team con's" side....

Without the deep dive series I would still be unaware (bc I'm not a social media person so I'm not up on current events) thus Britney continuing to live her hell. I feel that the deep dive series really helped kick start, or at least help the momentum of the #freebritney movement. It has up to this point been more beneficial for Britney, although I agree probably hurtful for her as well. I don't think there's ever a reason, especially in her life time, to ever show that footage, or talk about those dark times in her life again. Unless it's her talking about it, on her own terms. That's just my personal opinion.

In response to Chloe telling Wendy Williams that Britney was “in debt, owing millions of dollars” i have a couple things to say. It never made sense to me since we never really saw her overspending, a Mercedes convertible was well within her financial reach. Various things would have been comped because she was so famous, AND the Blackout album was selling when everything was going down. But, Britney did tell Diane Sawyer she had an uncle who took care of her large sum of money. Also, this was leading into the Great Recession in which a lot of wealthy people lost large sums of money through no fault of their own. But I’d love to see her source because the New Yorker article said her mother was worried she would go into debt, but was not broke. Therefore wording it as “in debt owing millions of dollars” is so careless it’s basically a lie, and if you’re talking to a talk show host you should probably not do that.
I think it had something to do with Jamie's spending. Her report wasn't that great but nothing was said about Britney's they would have to do a credit check but I think some people resulted to heavy spending because of the pandemic. If Britney co signed to help any of them. It might lower her score a tad bit but it would still be there debt owed and not hers if she took her name off the conservatorship. That's why there so pushy about having her on it. They don't want to disrupt there cozy lifestyle and its mostly just out of selfishness.

This video made me so happy. I'm tired of the main stream media and their bs stories they did about britney. Vivian did a interview representing Jamie on cnn. The fact that Chloe basically defended herself of not being on the payroll when there wasn't any speculation on her, is very telling. Its funny that Jamie wanted this media matter paid for in the accounting, and Chloe making sure you knew she isn't on payroll. Obviously just speculation of course. What I’m hearing her say is “I am not on Jamie Spears’s payroll. I say all these nice things about him for free!” Weird that she says Britney can vote, get married, gets driven around by a driver, can work without interference, have a nice life under her conservatorship without taking into account that it’s a conservatorship. A prison can be pretty posh but if you can’t leave and you are in a forced labor arrangement, and you can’t choose who visits you and people who are supposed to represent you have a conflict of interest in keeping you in prison, does Chloe really think that’s ok because there’s a chauffeur?? She’s definitely too close to someone out there. Yes, celebrities do pay a lot of money for high powered attorneys who deserve to get paid. But Britney didn’t choose the attorneys and although they’re supposed to be working for her estate, they also seem to be working against her. So was Chloe paid by James Spears? IDK. Was she paid by *someone*? IDK. CNN probably has rules about that. Was there a quid pro quo for access to other celebrities in the future, further enhancing Chloe’s professional career? She doesn't need to get paid by them. The issue is access. It is a conflict of interest for many journalists when they are covering the very people who control access to people they need to interview. Tristar and team con can control access to Britney and others and if they want to report on her, they need to go through Jamie. That is how it has worked from DAY ONE. NBC killed the Harvey Weinstein story for a year because they were afraid of losing access to his clients. This is the same thing. It requires a reporter, like Ronan Farrow, willing to lose their job to push a story like that through. I don't think Chloe Melas is a paid PR flack. I think she is a mediocre reporter, enjoying the clout and fame of working for CNN at a very young age. She knows there are a million young reporters who would KILL for her job and she's not going to rock the boat...

And when she brought up being a mom, I would've guilt tripped her by pointing out that Britney is a mom, too, and doesn't have the luxury of being with her kids whenever she wants, because of the conservatorship that Chloe seems to favor. This explains why the CNN "doc" was a shallow bunch of loosely connected celebrity interviews, sloppy with the facts than the other two that dropped that week. All journalists have a hard job. They all have to vet their sources before they air them and there often IS pressure from above to water down or drop stories. Most journalists value their access to the higher levels of power within their beats. The idea that she would be paid off isn't the issue. The issue is ACCESS. She keeps going back to that over and over as if it proves anything that she isn't on the payroll. (Which ya know, we still don't actually know, but I think it's unlikely) NBC repressed the Harvey Weinstein story for a year because of ACCESS. They felt they needed to keep him on side because he's a powerful figure in the entertainment industry. One thing though, reporters rarely get to chose/write headlines for their pieces. That is almost always last minute done by web editors and people higher up the chain as well as the lowest rung who are actually inputting the stories into the web. HOWEVER, I can't believe that if the headline is misleading and people are vocal about it, that they WOULDN'T issue a retraction or change it. It's not that hard to issue a retraction. As BJ said, you just say it, apologize and move on. It never takes less time to lie and deny and try to manipulate the other party. It's just unprofessional and ultimately is going to hurt Chloe's career. She should just go work for Tristar already if that is how she's going to play things. The day after Britney spoke, like 12 hours later there were already pieces in the press, clearly READY to go, "why Britney's shocking testimony doesn't vindicate #freeBritney." It was put out there by a PR firm and picked up around the web. All news organizations are machines that require fresh content, so PR flacks know that if they just pre-package stories they will get picked up, often without a word changed. They don't care about the truth. They just want clicks.

I can understand an interviewer trying to establish trust or rapport with their sources, but it came off like she was just trying to defend herself and clear her own name. Why was any of that relevant to mention? If those things aren’t true, it would be more professional to not mention them at all.
Saying "I'm not being paid by Jamie Spears", a couple of times was odd enough. Every single time she said it, after the first time. Just made it appear that she was in trouble with the Spears team. And they told her, "get those people off your ass. Or, we'll have to find someone else. Who doesn't have the attention of that group". It ultimately came off as desperate on her part.

I used to have a little 3-year-old neighbour whom I was quite fond of. She moved; it’s sad. But anyway, when she still lived next door, she came swimming in my pool one time. At some point she started informing us all that she did NOT pee in the pool. Nobody asked, but she kept repeating her announcement. So obviously, she had, indeed, peed in the pool.
Whenever someone insists repeatedly that they did not do something, you can be sure they did. It’s human nature I guess, but you’d think most people would grow out of it around age 4 or 5. But here’s Chloe still trying too hard to convince everyone that she did NOT “pee in the pool,” so to speak.
I agree that Chloe is on Jamie's side and that she is a liar. BJ has done a great job putting together clips Chloe contradicting herself and defending Jamie. Whether she is on his payroll, kissing up to someone who is, or motivated in some other way, I don't care. Her manipulative actions are self evident.
However the logic that everyone who insists they are innocent must be guilty doesn't hold up.
Even in the innocuous pee in pool case there are possible explanations besides speaking out of guilty conscience:(1) She has peed in the pool in the past and been corrected for it and she felt the need that day to show she did something different than her reputation would bid you to expect, and/or (2) Someone who peed in the pool as a kid was reluctant to bring her to the pool thinking she would pee and only let her after she promised not to pee. She would have thought she needed to give feedback that she kept her word and did not fail as predicted, (3) She overheard someone talking about how much pee they [probably correctly] estimate is in public swimming pool. She wanted everyone to know the pee wasn't hers.
I don't know what is the case with this one kid. Maybe she has a pattern of defending herself only when she feels guilty.
However, not everyone has the luxury of only expecting trouble when they actually do something wrong.
If you look at the innocence project, not all the people exonerated by DNA evidence made false confessions. Some truthfully said "I didn't do it," when they didn't do it, and continued insisting. Even those forced to make false confessions were sometimes convinced trying to defend themselves made them guilty.
Early experience being punished for stuff you didn't do, and parents always looking at you like you're the embodiment of Murphy's law can make kids defensive.
Worse: Living with people who have major baggage, project their faults on others, have paranoid schizophrenia, get others to take the blame for stuff they do etc. can make victims hypervigilant. The more you falsely accuse someone, the more their sense of a just world will be pulverized and the more guilty they will look 24/7.
Chloe isn't guilty of lying because she says she's telling the truth. She's guilty of lying because the truth contradicts her.

Without the deep dive series I would still be unaware (bc I'm not a social media person so I'm not up on current events) thus Britney continuing to live her hell. I feel that the deep dive series really helped kick start, or at least help the momentum of the #freebritney movement. It has up to this point been more beneficial for Britney, although I agree probably hurtful for her as well. I don't think there's ever a reason, especially in her life time, to ever show that footage, or talk about those dark times in her life again. Unless it's her talking about it, on her own terms. That's just my personal opinion.

In response to Chloe telling Wendy Williams that Britney was “in debt, owing millions of dollars” i have a couple things to say. It never made sense to me since we never really saw her overspending, a Mercedes convertible was well within her financial reach. Various things would have been comped because she was so famous, AND the Blackout album was selling when everything was going down. But, Britney did tell Diane Sawyer she had an uncle who took care of her large sum of money. Also, this was leading into the Great Recession in which a lot of wealthy people lost large sums of money through no fault of their own. But I’d love to see her source because the New Yorker article said her mother was worried she would go into debt, but was not broke. Therefore wording it as “in debt owing millions of dollars” is so careless it’s basically a lie, and if you’re talking to a talk show host you should probably not do that.

I think it had something to do with Jamie's spending. Her report wasn't that great but nothing was said about Britney's they would have to do a credit check but I think some people resulted to heavy spending because of the pandemic.

This video made me so happy. I'm tired of the main stream media and their bs stories they did about britney. Vivian did a interview representing Jamie on cnn. The fact that Chloe basically defended herself of not being on the payroll when there wasn't any speculation on her, is very telling. Its funny that Jamie wanted this media matter paid for in the accounting, and Chloe making sure you knew she isn't on payroll. Obviously just speculation of course. What I’m hearing her say is “I am not on Jamie Spears’s payroll. I say all these nice things about him for free!” Weird that she says Britney can vote, get married, gets driven around by a driver, can work without interference, have a nice life under her conservatorship without taking into account that it’s a conservatorship. A prison can be pretty posh but if you can’t leave and you are in a forced labor arrangement, and you can’t choose who visits you and people who are supposed to represent you have a conflict of interest in keeping you in prison, does Chloe really think that’s ok because there’s a chauffeur?? She’s definitely too close to someone out there. Yes, celebrities do pay a lot of money for high powered attorneys who deserve to get paid. But Britney didn’t choose the attorneys and although they’re supposed to be working for her estate, they also seem to be working against her. So was Chloe paid by James Spears? IDK. Was she paid by *someone*? IDK. CNN probably has rules about that. Was there a quid pro quo for access to other celebrities in the future, further enhancing Chloe’s professional career? She doesn't need to get paid by them. The issue is access. It is a conflict of interest for many journalists when they are covering the very people who control access to people they need to interview. Tristar and team con can control access to Britney and others and if they want to report on her, they need to go through Jamie. That is how it has worked from DAY ONE. NBC killed the Harvey Weinstein story for a year because they were afraid of losing access to his clients. This is the same thing. It requires a reporter, like Ronan Farrow, willing to lose their job to push a story like that through. I don't think Chloe Melas is a paid PR flack. I think she is a mediocre reporter, enjoying the clout and fame of working for CNN at a very young age. She knows there are a million young reporters who would KILL for her job and she's not going to rock the boat...

Sounds like weasel words, to me. She seemed to be emphasizing Jamie, as if Jamie were the entirety of the conservatorship. She could be receiving money from any given person within that "team". I would've asked her, point-blank, if she has received money or any other "gifts" from anybody known to be attached to Team Con.
And when she brought up being a mom, I would've guilt tripped her by pointing out that Britney is a mom, too, and doesn't have the luxury of being with her kids whenever she wants, because of the conservatorship that Chloe seems to favor.

I still can't believe Britney has only 60 million in her estate. She's been in a conservatorship most of her adult life, it's not as if it can be blamed on her spending it all; she didnt have access to her own money. I hope they do forensic accounting to see where that money went.

I can never get texts from my kids out of the blue . It has to be me that texts them and then immediately after 7 seconds of talking they purposely get distracted . Telling me mom I have to go so and so wants me to do something right now. Nothing can wait.

This explains why the CNN "doc" was a shallow bunch of loosely connected celebrity interviews, sloppy with the facts than the other two that dropped that week. All journalists have a hard job. They all have to vet their sources before they air them and there often IS pressure from above to water down or drop stories. Most journalists value their access to the higher levels of power within their beats. The idea that she would be paid off isn't the issue. The issue is ACCESS. She keeps going back to that over and over as if it proves anything that she isn't on the payroll. (Which ya know, we still don't actually know, but I think it's unlikely) NBC repressed the Harvey Weinstein story for a year because of ACCESS. They felt they needed to keep him on side because he's a powerful figure in the entertainment industry. One thing though, reporters rarely get to chose/write headlines for their pieces. That is almost always last minute done by web editors and people higher up the chain as well as the lowest rung who are actually inputting the stories into the web. HOWEVER, I can't believe that if the headline is misleading and people are vocal about it, that they WOULDN'T issue a retraction or change it. It's not that hard to issue a retraction. As BJ said, you just say it, apologize and move on. It never takes less time to lie and deny and try to manipulate the other party. It's just unprofessional and ultimately is going to hurt Chloe's career. She should just go work for Tristar already if that is how she's going to play things. The day after Britney spoke, like 12 hours later there were already pieces in the press, clearly READY to go, "why Britney's shocking testimony doesn't vindicate #freeBritney." It was put out there by a PR firm and picked up around the web. All news organizations are machines that require fresh content, so PR flacks know that if they just pre-package stories they will get picked up, often without a word changed. They don't care about the truth. They just want clicks.
