Highly recommand it! Larp comes in all shapes and sizes. There are alot of events out there that are less intense or demanding which are perfect for easing into the hobby.
Grandiose Bilder, toller Schnitt und die Musik perfekt in Einklang mit den Bildern gebracht, vor allem beim Blutballspiel. Eines der schönsten Larp-Videos die ich je gesehen hab.
I really want to figure out the combat rules in these big epic-level games like Empire, Conquest, and Drachenfest. The fights look cool, but no one's calling damage like Nero or Solar, and no one's tucking back limps like Amtgard or Dagorhir, so it's a little hard to tell how they determine who wins. I'm sure it's something with how much armor they're wearing and/or the weapon they're using, but I'm seeing people in full plate drop from one hit and at the same time people in robes are tanking against multiple opponents, just taking a beating. Someone make it make sense.
Epic Empires, Drachenfest, and Conquest (side note Epic Empires has no relation to Empire in the UK). Have all slightly different systems. We can only speak for Epic Empires. The System can be translated as "What you see is what you get" means there are no points, called out damages, or hard combat rules. It's an honour system where it's all about fighting nice and selling the hits as convincingly and/or dramatically as you are able to. On big events where you have hundreds of people fighting in one spot this can lead to people going down early or a bit too late. Epic Empires also has a respawn system which encourages to go down in a dramatic and untimely way. This is fairly representative of the majority of fantasy Larp events in Germany (except the respawn) where this system has out grown the more rigid point based and rule heavy systems.
Like I said, it's an honor system base on selling both strikes and hits well to making combat overall into a more cinematic experience rather than an out of game competition.
95% is just swinging wildly without any regard for weapon heft. This is my main problem with huge larp. There is basically no order or rules to anything.
Well it definitely mimics the chaotic nature of large scale battles especially with mixed weaponry on each side. Also alot of weapons are not stab-safe which means you see more swinging where you would see stabbing otherwise.
Deliberate strikes to the head are not allowed but as you correcly pointed out they happen in the heat of battle. Especially when you have alot of pole arms an both sides and not much space to move. Thats why its recommanded to wear a helmet when fighting with a shorter weapon.
This looks so fing cool!!! I want to bring like 10 friends and we have our own little group of like marauders that have some of every kidney of armor and weapon type so we have a legit unit and then we just end up being sell swords for whichever faction we RP with. This looks fun af

I have nothing with larping, but this looks really fun. I do like fantasy, so maybe one day I'll step out of my comfort zone and give this a try

@@OTBlase Thank you for the tip. I'll definitely check it out.

Großartig!
Great job! What camera did you use?
Thanks! This was shot on a Lumix GX85
Random Nummi beim Fotografieren am Ende, die Musik triffts ziemlich genau *g
Der Versuch sich noch aus dem Bild zu Ducken ist einfach perfekt.
Die Atmosphäre muss man erst mal so einfangen können!
Klasse gemacht! :) Danke für Eure Mühen!

@@OTBlase Okay, so they're just winging it?

@@OTBlase That seems like it would be confusing, but I think I get it.
It becomes second nature really fast.

Das Ende ist ja Hammer. Starke Arbeit Dom
SO this is what Germany looks like now a days.
Once a year at least😁
I read the rules and head shots not allowed - but loads happen if you watch the vids. In UK its allowed but Germany no.....accidents happen?

Mega!!!
