    The different sizes, and hardnesses of flints, I wish they were more accessible these days. The other day I put a Ronson red in a lighter, and sware it was sparking brighter, but thought it was just in my head, maybe not lol. Great video as always my friend 👍

    So far I personally have experienced not just with vintage lighters but with modern lighters as well that they can be quite finnicky on which flint they work best with. Generally most lighters will work with any flint but some lighters will only strike 1/3 times on one flint but 10/10 times on another flint. Only once have I ever had a lighter not function at all with a given flint and that was a Chinese zippo insert. In my experience the best flint for a “wide application” (i.e works perfectly in as many lighters across the board as possible) are the black clipper flints. I collect clippers and have a fuckload of generic Chinese flints that work great in said clippers so I just go swap the flint on every new clipper I collect. The clipper minis also have a flint that is smaller diameter than almost any other flint I’ve been able to find on the market. These are a must have as some random more rare lighters use a smaller diameter flint tube that is too small to accept a standard diameter flint.

    I’ve got a question. My mom told me that if I ever run out of zippo flints, I should find a spare bic lighter and put the bic flint in the lighter. Wouldn’t it be too hard for a zippo though?

      Man I fixed my ronson lighter with the rock of a Bic lighter, and it worked normally, no difference, maybe it doesn't last that long but it works great, hope I helped you man 🙂

      @@wyattbennett4737, I think they are longer so you may have to break it to get the length you need. I don't think they are harder though.✌️

    Hello! Thanks for the vid. I have a prince table lighter and it's filled with butane and fresh flint, but does not light. It sparks. Any thoughts?

      I have plenty of thoughts but if it's a butane lighter I won't be any help.✌️

    Sir, I have an old 8 sided table lighter, marked "Sterling Weighted 666" on the bottom. I found the exact same one that's made by Tiffany's which was clearly marked Tiffany's on the bottom. The one I have isn't marked with any company name at all. Did companies back then make "knock offs" to compete with large companies? The center piece insert that's stuck into the top of the lighter which has the strike button on top of it, I can't seem to pull out (I don't know if I'm supposed to try getting it out to see what's on the inside) as it seemed to be stuck.
    To your knowledge if there's no brand name on the outside, could it be on the inside?

    • @DependableFlame
      @DependableFlame  Рік тому +1

      It could be marked on the inside of the base or underside of the insert. It could be the manufacturer contracted with Tiffany's to put their name on some of the manufacturer's products.✌️

      @@DependableFlame yes, I pulled the insert out, finally, and found no brand. I'm betting these were sold for advertising) Tiffany's & Cartier's) and this one remained an unbranded (probably less expensive) one. Thanks.

    do old ronson/MTC/DOLINE table lighters use asbestos in the wick or wadding?
    also do flat ad lighters use asbestos wicks? cheerio

    • @DependableFlame
      @DependableFlame  6 місяців тому +1

      I think it's likely that any wick produced before the 1990s could contain asbestos.✌️
