I always found it kind of amusing that they put so much effort into making the town reflect Germany, but the school feels so Japanese, down to ultra-strict dress codes that forbid even jewelry and makeup and the idea that backpacks are babyish and not what everyone wears at all ages.
YES!!! I remember this anime from way back then too!! It feels like we barely get animes like this one anymore, like very lighthearted and relatively kid friendly episodic anime that isn't toyetic....
Right? It's such a treasure! The toyetic anime can survive in the struggling anime industry because they make their money from sales, but even those are a VERY hard market to break into now... unless you're Pokemon, Pretty Cure, or a long-runner like Doraemon or Chibi Maruko-chan, it's hard to make a new show that'd succeed, so a lot of studios just make stuff for adults with lots of fanservice to sell figures whatever...
To this day I *still* sometimes hum the little tune Sugar plays on her flute. Such a blast from the past, glad to see this cute show get more attention ❤
Okay but has anyone else ever watched an anime called "Bottle Fairy"? I remember watching it from a DVD I borrowed from my local library in middle school! Such 2000s aesthetic ✨️
@sghope it's such a niche series but has very similar art style. I remember it being very cute ♡ I think there are episodes on UA-cam haha I might rewatch for the nostalgia ✨️
I remember that series! It stood out to me because each episode was so short and covered a different season. I have so many screenshots of it on my old computer!
One year me and my friends all dressed up as characters from this show for Anime Expo Because Koge Donbo was visiting. I was dressed as Sugar, and my friends were the other fairies and Saga. We all made our costumes by hand. It was so much fun.
Oh man the only reason I remember this anime is because I was obsessed with its art on a puzzle piece game when I was a wee kid. Never knew where it came from.
This sounds like a cute little gem especially with anime with fairies and the animation definitely looks cute ^^ I never knew there were series like this in the 2000s since I was still a young girl then ^^ I think I'll give this series a watch ^^ Great video as always ^^
ahhh i had this on dvd!! my grandma bought it from a thrift store since i was so obsessed with anime when i was around 11!! the dvd only had a few episodes from what i remember. i cherished it dearly.
Snow Fairy Sugar was my JAM as a kid!! I had an entire custom-made Halloween costume of the main fairy! Sadly that was about 12-15 years ago so all the pieces are either broken or donated, but it's such a wonderful show with so many wholesome memories for me :]
Great video!!! I found this show over 10 years ago due to the character design being done by Koge-Donbo*, one of my favorite artists. She's the creator of series like Di Gi Charat, Kamichama Karin, and Pita Ten. :) Di Gi Charat especially is a huge special interest of mine, and getting into that in jr. high school quickly led to me getting into many of her other works, this included (though her only contribution was designing the characters). I am lucky enough to have managed to get my hands on Sugar's scale figure a few years back.
I KNOW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERS THIS! I remember watching this at my sister’s place ages ago (she lived somewhere else with other family) she had it on DVDs! It’s such a wholesome and emotional anime anyone can enjoy. ADV dubbed the show from what I could find… So yeah, the same people who are behind the iconic Evangelion dub also did Snow Fairy Sugar’s dub. This anime just hits hard, and it’s nostalgic too if you ever saw it when it had released on DVDs. It’s such a cute anime.
I remember being on an anime website where they had a space with randomly selected animes in it, and decided to watch that one. Absolutely no regret, it was so nice. Also that ending song is beautiful I want to rewatch it, now
Oh my GOODNESS this takes me back. I had an anime rental store near my house (weird right??) and I picked this one up so fast after seeing it 50 times on other Geneon DVDs. One of the best decisions my young weeb self could make, I still adore this show so much and its lessons in heartbreak and growth and healing is just so... Mwuah, chef's kiss. ;u; Thanks for the video!
I didn't grow up with this (sadly) but I found it years ago and rewatch it every now and then. It's such a cute chill anime if you're looking for a slice of life with a touch of magic. I always thought it was cool that it was set in Germany.
funny fun fact I watched the specials first since they where in front of the other episodes on a site for some reason it made me more interested in the upcoming lore XD
I bought the manga last year without realizing there was an anime. The trace/lineart of the animation makes me think of Pita-Ten! By your review, the anime sounds so lovely, omg!!!
I actually used to watch this anime with my dad! I'm so glad he wasn't "above" watching these more girly childish anime with me. It made me really like waffles for a bit also, haha...
It's also like a modern take on Little Memole (Memole of the Pointed Hat), a similarly precious old anime series that's about a sickly, wealthy, but very lonely human girl who lost her mother young and whose father is so busy, he won't even be by her side when she's literally dying. A cute, pixie-like alien named Memole and her friends save her life. But, she and the other aliens shouldn't be seen by humans! They make a special allownace for Memole and Marielle to keep being friends and they bring more light and happiness into Marielle's life...
I love this channel so much, it’s literally going back to my childhood to when I was obsessed with shoujo anime! I totally did forgot about this anime ! I used to like anime because it was so cute 🥹
This anime holds such a special place in my heart, it was one of the first animes I watch that wasn't something mainstream. I'm so sad no one talks about this anime :(
This anime was featured in one of my mid-2000s Newtype magazines, but I have no idea which issue. I never saw anything about it before or since, and never saw any clips from it till this video. Thank you for looking back and pulling this out of obscurity!
Omg i go on to your home page only to see the video that I suggested without checking. I loved this show so much as a kid. I live in America but my grandpa was an anime fan so he bought them when I was little.
OH MY GOSH 😭😭 this video brought back so many memories!! idk if this is spoilers but I remember being really sad that she couldn’t see sugar by the end of it 😭 it was this and princess tutu that i distinctly remember having a huge emotional impact on me lol
i loved this anime back in middle school!!! Sugars my pfp on my anime list LOL there use to be a snow fair fan website that played the op/soundtrack and you were able to click through and play all the episodes and have chara wikis, i think it shut down tho. This anime isbnear and dear to me :3
Ohh when I first heard of that anime I wanted to watch it so badly! But it was during the times where it wasn't really that easy to find subbed anime on the internet to download and the only .avi pack I managed to find would take weeeks to download so I gave up and forgot about it. Such a cute story
So I am kind of getting back into anime. I never really stopped as much as College, work, moving to a different place and getting myself established. I would constantly work and feel guilty if I wasn't doing some kind of chore or studying. Now, I make time. Even if it's only like 15 minutes before bed. I saw this on UA-cam back in 2011 and I wanna finish it~
I have been LOOKING for this!!! I watched it when I was in middle school back when Netflix came in the mail lol I’ve been wanting to re-watch but couldn’t remember the name! Can’t wait to read the books 💖
I remember when I was little, we used to borrow this show from our local library a lot and watch it! Can't believe I forgot about it until recently as well! I might have to watch it again! Thanks for bringing back memories! ❤
One of my favorite childhood….or teenhood animes I used to watch. I love this series and the characters. I love Sugar, Salt, Pepper, Ginger, a little of Turmeric. I sometimes didn’t like Saga for how stubborn she was through the show. And I hated the elder cause he was really creepy and annoying when he tries all through the show to get Ginger to notice him. Also, about what you said how the adults wouldn’t tell the baby fairies about the twinkles, they’re not allowed, or supposed to. They can help them here and there. Just not tell them so they can learn and find them on their own. They may suck, but it’s their law, or rule. I won’t spoil the end if anyone hadn’t seen it, but there is a somewhat reason why Sugar and Saga were close to each other and it’s about what had happened in Saga’s childhood. Not gonna say anything tho lol.
I love this anime and seeing you do a review on this anime he makes me so happy I love everything about this. It’s so cute adorable and I love it so much.
This series made me CRY. I went into it thinking it would be all fluffy but OH GOD when Greta realizes that the piano she got for her birthday had belonged to Saga's mother and has a breakdown, shouting "I didn't know...I DIDN'T KNOW!" to an empty room... I'm crying just thinking of it! And the ending where Saga suspects the passerby boy can see Sugar even though she no longer can, I was shouting GO AFTER HIM!
I just did some reaserch on Geneon, and then realized that both this and the Original Beyblade series were licensed in the US by the same company. That alone makes this anime appeal so much more to me, maybe I should give it a watch.
Woah blast from the past I never thought that someone would make a video on this anime❤ There's also Petite Princess Yucie if your interested it has fantasy romance but most of all friendships Also I think I'm hearing Baribie as rapunzel music in your BG❤❤❤
I remember that i was in starstruck mode when i was see this anime for the first time at local tv station but unfortunately i only managed to just watch 1 or 2 episodes because it hard for me to catch the anime schedule properly
ahhh, love to see some content about this anime haha it was the very first manga i'd ever bought before even knowing what manga are ...i still vividly remember begging my mother to buy it for me and very professionally went volume 2, 3 and 1 in this order haha xD
Ahh yess childhood!! I loved this series to bits, I actually almost forgot the title of this since it goes long way back~ I might look at your Ashita no Nadja vid too, which has been on my watchlist ever since like junior high I still haven't gone on with it cuz it has like 50 episodes, I didn't know it was that long XDD I'm honestly one to talk, when I watched all of Fushigi Boshi Futago-hime and it's second seasons so~
Seeing the fairie's and even fairycore themed genre's in anime or even tv show's and movie's or even video game's are so very rarely underrated yet so very interesting to me because it definitely peeks my interest and it definitely wish that make's me wanted to see more of the fairy like media's and even more fairycore themed media's around the world or even elsewhere once more once again! And so then thank you so very much for sharing this wonderfully hidden gem for me sailor gaurdian hope I've definitely appreciated it and it definitely warm's my heart and it make's me smile to see an underrated hidden gem of an anime that nobody and i do mean nobody talks about or even seen or heard about this hidden gem of an anime and so then everyone speaks out and talked, seen or even heard about this hidden diamond in the rough anime for many generations to generation's yet to come once again and so then thank you so much for sharing this video hope I've definitely appreciated it and so then keep it up the fantastic work because you are the best and the most wonderfully talented person!!!

This anime had 12 yr old me sobbing by the end
Seeing fairies in anime is so underrated to me. Thank you for sharing this.
YES!!! I remember this anime from way back then too!!

This anime predicted Disney fairies! Lol the anime looks underrated
SNOW FAIRY SUGAR MENTIONED LET'S GOOOOO!
To this day I *still* sometimes hum the little tune Sugar plays on her flute. Such a blast from the past, glad to see this cute show get more attention ❤

Wow, I had forgotten about this series, I used to be "obsessed" with Fairy Pepper! This was such a fun and retro video!
I love Pepper's dub voice I wanna ruffles his hair with my finger
Snow Fairy Sugar was my JAM as a kid!! I had an entire custom-made Halloween costume of the main fairy! Sadly that was about 12-15 years ago so all the pieces are either broken or donated, but it's such a wonderful show with so many wholesome memories for me :]

WHOA. this unlocked DEEP buried memories. I dont remember a single thing about this show except how cute the fairy's design was!!
Time might have forgotten this show, but I haven't. Its been on my mind since elementary school. I love the intro. :>
Speaking of anime fairies, have you ever heard of the Fairy Idol Kanon manga series? Sugar + Alto defined my childhood, fairy wise haha.
Oh my GOODNESS this takes me back. I had an anime rental store near my house (weird right??) and I picked this one up so fast after seeing it 50 times on other Geneon DVDs. I GREW UP ON THIS ANIME!! I thought it was just me who watched this so many memories with this❤️✨
I didn't grow up with this (sadly) but I found it years ago and rewatch it every now and then. It's such a cute chill anime if you're looking for a slice of life with a touch of magic. I always thought it was cool that it was set in Germany.

thanks for bringing back a buried memory that I packed in my brain in an unknown space =)
A Little Snow Fairy Sugar is so wonderful and cute aww! 💕😊

I legit grew up with this show. The song featured at the ending credits is forever engrained in my memory and I'm grateful for that.
I never forgot this anime - the opening SLAPS ✨

there is a movie that take place about one year after and it have them reunite with each other and we even get to see where all fairys live.

ooooo~ I remember loving this series! The ending theme still makes me cry.
Thanks a lot I wasn’t familiar with the show. You always make such nice videos.
I remember this! I don’t remember where I saw this series, I think I may have watched it from a rented cd when I was little, but I loved this!
I love this anime and seeing you do a review on this anime he makes me so happy I love everything about this. It’s so cute adorable and I love it so much.

Short Trivia : The rain fairy is voiced by Sailor Moon seiyuu and the cloud fairy one is voiced by Tuxedo Kamen seiyuu
This anime was cute as heck, definitely inspired me... and yeah, I love how it's set in Germany, the houses are beautiful.

Haven’t watched the video yet but this was my first anime!! Happy to hear someone talking about it!
Aw yeah this show was my childhood! SUGAR BABY LOOOOVE!
I remember that i was in starstruck mode when i was see this anime for the first time at local tv station but unfortunately i only managed to just watch 1 or 2 episodes because it hard for me to catch the anime schedule properly
ahhh, love to see some content about this anime haha
it was the very first manga i'd ever bought before even knowing what manga are

I was looking for this for weeks all because I was struggling to remember it's name! Great video!
I’ve only read the manga and the ending made me cry so hard when I was like ten
I always thought Koge Donbo had some involvement with this series? Did she do the character designs? It looks so much like her style.
we stan snow fairy sugar
The character design gives me strong DigiCharat vibes, let me google- ETA they ARE by the creator of DiGiCharat! That anime was huge back in the day.

I remember reading this manga at my library. This series is so unbelievably cute and sweet 💖

THIS SHOW WAS MY CHILDHOOD
Love your channel, you always cover stuff that is nostalgic for me! My lil bro loved watching it with me. Also, may I please ask what that pink plushie dog thing in your background is? It's super cute!

Once, I won the art box from the AnimeOnDVD weekly prizes 😁
This is so cute! Thank you for sharing this anime
I watched this entire anime last year and I love it!
this show was part of my childhood :D
I watched that series a lot when it was on Amazon Prime Video for free. I love it sm
