      I think that’s the right move for heavier riders who crave range over speed. You won’t go wrong with the DTX, it’s. A great vehicle for sure. Still hoping that companies like Rion push Dualtron to release faster models in the future though 😅

    My favorite quote on these scooters from /u/htrr:
    “The beauty and the beast. Hard to think of any two scooters in the same power class which are more different.
    They both reflect perfectly their respective heritage. One the one hand the DTX is the logical evolution of the Ultra / Thunder freed from any weight constraints. More power, more range for a well-established clientele who crave long group rides. It adds real suspensions increasing comfort and versality and builds in support for all the beloved (LED) gadgets of future owners. The Rion on the other hand is clearly the product of a race mindset. Impeccable chassis, amazing aesthetics, top of the line brakes, carbon fiber everywhere to satisfy an absolute obsession for weight. Not much concern for polyvalence or comfort which would have required suspensions and they did not even bother with non-slick tires. She is for the well-maintained asphalt only.
    I can see who the DTX is for and can see that these will be logging on a lot of kilometers on these really fast. However, not sure they will go with all the legislation popping up in Europe and elsewhere. I have more difficulties imagining who the Rion is for and can’t help but wonder if its primary audience is not for those seeking a social status symbol or occasional toy for thrill seekers. But, I have to confess that I would be far more interested in riding the Rion that the X.”

  • @hairtransplantchannel
    @hairtransplantchannel 5 років тому +10

    I really appreciate your videos but how do you justify running at such high speeds on bike and jogging lanes? The weaving in between joggers, and the one point in the video where you both passed a car on either side on a two lane road is highly unsafe and will only contribute to future legislation to harshly regulate and even ban these great scooters. I write this hoping that my eventual purchase won’t be a massive waste of money because my city will ban them because of videos like this. I see electric scooters as quad copters before they were over regulated too.

    • @AlienRides

      Do they make their own motors in house in addition to their controllers?
      They really are setting the bar in this category. Slick on road custom tyres, in house controller, best capacity size and current performing battery, carbon fibre mould for chassis, best hydrualic brakes for scooters and that throttle is just flawless.

      @@AlienRides thanks for the reply. This is a huge key I think. If any manufacturer wants to stand out and be in it it for the long haul they should take more control of the controller and motor as well as chassis. Brakes, batteries and tyres leave to OEMs already doing a good job.
      As for laws in UK, im in London. I hope they arent introduced as i'm imagining they will want users to pay a road tax or have full blown insurance. Right now pretty much everyone in London is riding Xaomi m365s and police are ignoring them on the road, helmet or not. Perhaps the helmet should be obglitaory by law and be stopped by police if not.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому

      Yeah, that could be an interesting idea for sure, right now the Rion has way more power than it can deliver to the ground. It's crazy.

    • @robinlehnerd1475
      @robinlehnerd1475 4 роки тому +1

      @@AlienRidesIt's pretty cool. If it gets more competitive between brands, there are at least a few ways to get a new edge.
      One thing that came to my mind is that although it's super cool to have the huge power at both wheels, it might be at least slightly reducing the "racing" performance. The front wheel just doesn't need the same power as the rear wheel, and any unused power could be trimmed to cut weight and increase range. I'm not sure what the power distribution is but I thought I saw somewhere that both motors had equal power.
      I'd like to see basic TCS and anti wheelie systems. It would be cool to see electric scooters push the edge of what's possible. Especially if you could open the throttle with confidence that the tires can stay planted and give you the maximum acceleration without compromising safety and handling.
      I have to admit the thought of working on something like that is exciting. I'll be keeping my eyes out to see what's next.

    I don't understand the comments about the chirping being the rim slipping inside the tire.
    Wouldn't it be harder to slip the rim in the tire than for the tire to slip on the road?
    The tire is only contacting the road on a small patch with half the weight of the vehicle (or less), but the tire is squeezing the rim on all sides with presumably greater force than the weight of the vehicle.
    Another point is that friction is pretty much the same at all speeds, so if the rim was easier to slip than the tire on the road; the rim should also slip if you hold the brakes and try to push the bike.

    • @AlienRides

      1- Since I’m moving to NY, my commute from home to my office ( BayRidge Brooklyn to Dumbo) will be a minimum of 22km per day back and forth .
      2- I’ll go for pneumatic tires front and back, 10 inches size for maximum confort
      3- Max load over 130kg, since I weight around 100Kg
      4- Real Autonomy of at least 40km
      5- Max scooter weight of 30kg
      6- Front and rear suspensions
      7- Front/rear hydraulic disk brakes

    Can you imagine falling of? This is not 4 your average joe.

      Luckily they are both very stable at speed, but yeah, I would not want to fall off one of these scooters. 💀

      Falling off would hurt so bad. I fell while riding my Qiewa Q1 Hummer and broke my hip.

    Jeezz that's insanely fast. The fastest I've driven an e scooter was like 25 m/h would love to try one though

      Ok, maybe these specific models aren’t the most practical ones, being both heavy and extremely fast, but nothing id rather ride 😁

    1 hour later the rion dies

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 років тому

      Yup, it would not win a range comparison in the current configuration. Some new batteries in the works though, should be interesting to see what happens next year,.

      @@AlienRides if they can sort the battery thing possibly have two modes for longer battery then it would sell. I'm just curious about maintenance what needs to be done periodically for up keep? And if Dultron came out with a race edition that would ge great.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 років тому +1

      Steve Kioussis we get as maintenance goes I think it’s the same as other scooters. Mainly air pressure, tires, and brake pads. I think we’re going to see innovation from both companies in the future including faster Dualtron, and longer range Rions.

    Off topic question - but are there any scooters/PEVs that cater to those of heavier stature.... I'd love to use one and save gas and/or not suffer with our insane roadworks here but load capacity all seem to top out around 120kg...
    Would love to find something more.... Heavy duty...

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 роки тому +1

      I think you'll probably need a bigger scooter to handle some heavy weight, but I'm talked to a few heavier guys who are able to ride the Dualtron X or Dualtron Thunder without problems. I typically recommend folks purchase these from here: minimotorsusa.com?aff=7

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 років тому +1

      Yeah, a powerful scooter can definitely conquer any SF hill. I would love to race scooters at Laguna Seca, or a proper race track. I think we'll do something along those lines next year :)

    Good video. I have a question. Is the Dualtron X stable at high speed without a seat? Don't get rid of wobbly driving without a seat?

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 років тому

      It was generally super stable for me, though I occasionally got some weird oscillation in the front tire, possibly my suspension was not tuned correctly. I don't know if the seat helps stability or not tbh.

    Is there a speedometer on the Rion??? Great video brother!!!

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 років тому

      Thanks! I don't believe that the Rion has a built in speedometer, but they are working on an app which will display the speed. So you can mount the phone to the handlebars and have a digital speedometer, should be nice.
