Great video! Just wanted to note how humble you are - there are some UA-camrs who complain about the smallest thing and take things that 99% of us could never afford for granted, but I've noticed for a while how fair, just and understanding you are, and you always seem excited about every flight. Hope you enjoyed Vienna! PS 'kleiner oder großer Brauner' just means 'small or large espresso with milk' 🙂
That is exactly the reason why I follow Jeb, Vicarious Voyager, Dennis Bunnik and no more. The maturity and down to earth nature always draws me to his reviews
A lot of younger people these days are afflicted by "toxic positivity". According to them, it is simply "forbidden" to make the slightest remark that could "seem" like it may be negative. Absolutely everything is great, no mistakes are made, and one has to be grateful for absolutely every sh*tty situation, because it could have been worse. They strongly react when someone says something like "The train was supposed to leave at 0645, but started moving at 0647", thinking that the reviewer is negative and absolutely trashing everything known to humankind. Go figure...
Great thing I love about this channel above all the other travel review channels is there is no sense of entitlement at all. One UA-camr got angry staffers wouldn't let them film, another looks down at half of the dishes I would love eating any day. Yeah, Jeb points out the flaws during these reviews but doesn't get uppity about it at all, just tells you what's the problem and hypes up everything else. Love these reviews of European airlines! Would love to try these trips someday when Japan gets less paranoid with border restrictions.
You are right. Travel books warn about the Ugly American, the complainer who has no business traveling from home because something might be different from what he/she is used to on a daily basis. Enjoy what is different and try to fit into lifestyles and viewpoints that are not seen at home.
I flew with Austrian about six months ago and the meal service was indeed superb, but what I remember so fondly about that experience is just how fantastic the crew was. Truly great crews with Lufthansa group.
I took a flight from Vienna to Hamburg a few years ago. Outbound Lufthansa, Austrian the way back. It was like day and night. The German crew grumpy, the food awful, Austrian - newer plane , A320 instead of B737 MUCH quieter, friendly crew, delicious food as always. Lufthansa crews are hit and miss, Austrian always great. I have had a great experience with a flight attendant of Lufthansa on a trans Atlantic though: He saw that we were bored, so he took us to the freight room (back of the combi 747) and showed us the polar bears. Their caretaker was present also. I looked the bear into the eye at a distance below 50cm, very unique. Polar bears don't look very friendly.
Absolutely love how calm and seemingly humble you are. I sat through the entire video attentively and that happens rarely with other similar UA-camrs who just complain about every single detail because they go out of their way to look for issues.
I just want to thank you for flying with my national home carrier. It's always a pleasure for me. Austrian Airlines is one of my alltime favorite airlines for transatlantic flights. Their Boeing 767 are a bit outdated but well maintained especially onboard. I love the seats layout in business, premium eco and economy because it gives you a little bit more of privacy. Austrian has phased out 50% of their 767 fleet so there are only 3 aircrafts left. They also have 6 Boeing 777 with a 1-2-1 and 2-2-2 layout in business so you can choose what you prefer. What I like most of Austrian Airlines is the crews and of course the catering, especially when departing out from Vienna. I'm very looking forward to my Austrian flight from Klagenfurt via Vienna to Los Angeles in June this year. I'm sure it will be a great experience again. Thank you for your honest thoughts about your Austrian flight and your great content.
The 767 has always been my favorite commercial airplane, and the business class layout Austrian put together for theirs looks super nice. Thanks for sharing :-)
I love your humble attitude. You're a pro but you don't take everything for granted. That's unfortunately rare on channels like yours. I'm Austrian and I hope you enjoyed our country.
Nice! 🙂 9:00 It's "Zweigelt" ;-) 11:00 This means "Small or large brown one", so it is a choice between a small or large cup of coffee with milk ;-) ("Schwarzer" means "black one" or coffee without milk, "Melange" is similar to a Cappuccino) Cheers from Vienna!
Yes, and don't even think of the large cup to be the american size! The cup shown in the video was already the large cup. It's usually 125 milliliter or approx. 4 us fl oz. Greetings from Graz!
Great video, I have a soft spot for Austrian and their 767's, I'm so happy to see that old workhorse updated and put to good use. Also I always love seeing airport shots as they make trip reports way more interesting in my opinion so thank you for always including those!
Thank you for your vlogs and I appreciate your comments regarding your love of travel and of all things airlines. As an airline crew member I find a lot of UA-cam airline vloggers to be overly nit picky and very MEANSPIRITED! I have never felt that way about you. I find that your criticisms are informative and constructive and always presented with the best of intentions. Thank you for supporting this industry that we both love and I will be watching. My ‘new-to-me’ airline try will be Brussels Airlines this summer in business on my return from an African safari. Like you, I am always excited to add a new airline to my history!
As someone who has flown Austrian Airlines several times, including this exact route, I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Your speaking manner and pace of the video is excellent! The one thing I found missing was footage and a review of Vienna International Airport upon landing. The airport is extremely efficient, easy to navigate, and immaculately clean. Baggage claim is a breeze and the airport personnel are attentive and extremely professional. Also, getting transportation from the airport to your destination is done with ease. In all of my experiences, I unfortunately found the workers in Newark to be rude and almost abusive, while those in Vienna were polite and professional - it was a stark contrast! Thank you for the video!
I've said many times how much I enjoy your videos. It's great getting to experience these products without having to part with cash. You seem to have a similar attitude to travel that I do: you have great appreciation for the crew and what you're presented. I believe that in life how people treat you is a reflection of your attitude towards them.
Hey Jeb, cool video. I got a kick out of the fact you sat in 5k. I was in the same seat from Vienna to Montréal back in January. I really like Austrian Airlines, I know that their hard product may not be the newest one out there, but service is always impeccable and catering excellent. I'm glad you had the opportunity to fly with Austrian. They will always hold a special place in my heart, my first time flying longhaul business class was an Austrian 767 from Vienna to Toronto!
That was an incredible review, but that view of NYC on the climb out was something else! I have never flown Austrian, but am now tempted to do so. That said, I better make my first experience with them a long haul!
Great video Jeb! La Compagnie is my next new airline to try. They’re an all business class airplane that has routes between France and EWR and a new route to MXP. You’re one of the best at pointing out what could be better without coming across as pretentious or humiliating the airline.
As an Austrian i had to smile as you ordered the "Kleiner oder Grosser Brauner" :) I know you couldnt know, but "Kleiner oder Grosser" means big or small, so you can order either a "kleiner Brauner (small)" or a "grosser Brauner (big)" In fact it is coffee with milk and with milk foam, it can be compared with cappucino (even if some austrians would crucify me for this statement) anyways thank you for visiting vienna and for using our airline. Its small, but we are proud of it.
I’ve been on the Austrian 767-300 over 30 times in my 18 years of life! I absolutely love them! I am going again this summer to Vienna from Newark on the Austrian 777-200ER, and I am super excited.
An American friend once told me that nearly all transatlantic flights are at night. That is sad because such a short flight would be ideal for the day! Thank you for the video!
Great video Jeb and I hope to get to try the Polaris lounge one day! I used to fly Austrian from LHR to VIE on business in economy. The short haul European service was no better than a LCC - and actually I think I'd prefer EasyJet. Austrian have one of the first departure slots at LHR so it's an early start and the inflight service is woeful (a drink and biscuits - nothing at all substantial for a 2+ hour flight). The most memorable thing about them was that the female cabin crew uniform is eye-wateringly RED. Red shoes, stockings, suit, the lot - it's hideous! Clearly long haul in Business Class is a totally different experience :)
Great video Jeb! Austrian Is definitely an overlooked airline. Despite some of the small flaws of your flight you still have a positive attitude of your experience, which is why I love your channel! Thanks for this great video Jeb, and cya in the sky!🇦🇹🛫👍
Glad that they updated their ageing 767 fleet. Ten years ago IFE was even worse, movies would just play nonstop and you would have to "hop on". I don't know where they get the catering inbound, but Austrian is famous for having one of the best Airline caterers in the industry, even in economy. Do & Co was actually inherited from Lauda Air when that was taken over (as are the 767 btw.). Niki Lauda set a standard in the industry back in the Eighties with this high class caterer. I remember that I was served a steak in economy on a flight from Vienna to Athens in 1991. Crews are always very friendly and hospitable. Side note: You did not get a "großer Brauner oder kleiner Brauner". Either you got the big one or the small one.
I wanted to echo what Alex has said, I’m a huge av follower and I came across you on UA-cam and you’re commenting and over all standard of videos are so professional, you’re honest and the outcome is extremely well executed thank you
Hey Jeb, would you consider putting the Month and Year you took the flight in the description? Just so it's easy to tell whether it was pre-Covid, mid-Covid, etc and can compare service levels accordingly?
I flew with Austrian in economy from IAD to VIE and back on a 777-200 a decade ago this year, and while I don't remember the flight very well, I remember enjoying the flights despite being in a center seat on both legs.
Thanks, another great video, when I was younger I loved to fly but never got to very often just going from California to Philadelphia to visit husbands family dragging three young sons along🤣 I love ur views from the sky. I’m 79 now so flying has really changed. Thanks again for the flight👍🏻👵🏻🇺🇸
Hi Jeb. I agree with you that the food on Austrian Airlines is up to Singapore Airlines' standards. 😋🤣. I didn't see any mention of a "chef on board" your flight. I flew Austrian pre-Covid from IAD to Vienna and there was a chef who came around to ask how I wanted my breakfast prepared. They made omelettes to order. Guess they have eliminated that service? Your salmon dinner looked delicious. It's always so refreshing to hear of cabin service offered by flight attendants who obviously love their jobs and are proud of their airline. It really makes the flight enjoyable. Take care and have a great weekend. 👍❤✈🙏🌎
I flew on Austrians 767-300ER Newark to Vienna in 2019. I was in economy in the aisle, so I didn't get to see the views that much. But I loved the flight and glad you enjoyed it as well!
I’ll be doing this same flight on Austrian in about a month with my son for his graduation gift (2 years late due to Covid). We’ll be on the 777-200. Looking forward to it. Loved the video…keep it up.
Thanks Jeb, I’m living vicariously through your honest and fair reports Considering all the places you’ve traveled you could probably venture into doing some international history, probably with much of the footage you already have edited out of these. Wish I could afford these travels but it’s great watching you travel and treat the airlines, and railways fairly
Great Video I’ll be flying Austrian Business class next month. Now im very excited. Thank u for a great video. Also thank you for not coming across ungrateful like most UA-cam travel reviews that love to complaint about First and Business class.
Fun fact about the Zweigelt, it's an invented grape. Created in the 1920s! Also, Austrians take great pride in their coffee. The Vienna Coffee house is a thing of pride!
1:42 Everybody and their mother compares some other burger to In-N-Out. I'd say that this routine comparison bodes well for the 'In-N-Out is the best burger around' argument. Why else would so many feel it necessary to compare? Great video again, Jeb!
My next new-to-me airline will be Finnair Business Class MIA-ARN on their A350-900 later this year (likely with their new AirLounge sofa-type seat and the new bedding, although their other biz class seat would still be fine with me, too). Very excited about that flight!
Those triangular plates bring back memories of flying Lauda Air from Melbourne & Sydney to Vienna in the 1990s. The food and service were great, even in economy. The 777 had a strange layout. The first Y cabin had 3x3x3 and the second had 3x4x3. Seat width and legroom was the same in both cabins.
I love the Polaris lounge. I’ve visited in SFO and EWR and it’s been a great experience every time. I love to stock up on the macarons for a good snack mid flight. Great showers too when returning from an international trip
Hi Jeb, thank you for this amazing video! I really enjoyed it to watch it. It is so great to see, that you are still thrilled to fly and you are sharing it 🙂 Austrian is a great Airline and they are on my Bucket List.
Glad to see you taking the time to show the menus rather than inconveniencing your viewers by going to another page 👍🏻. Did your flight have the Chef with his toque as part of the crew? Looked like a great flight! I think the next trip to see my family in Switzerland, I just might have to try Austrian Business Class for the sake of trying it, rather than my usual Lufthansa First through FRA and Swiss First nonstop home to LAX. I agree with you, Jeb, flying from the West Coast to Europe provides plenty of time to enjoy the flight, watch a movie, AND get a good rest.
The Polaris lounge in Newark is awesome. I visited it back in February 2020. It’s amazing. I regret not trying a cocktail with the airplane swizzle stick.
Actually Austrian was my latest „New to Fly-Airline“ just yesterday. I just them on two flights. First was from Düsseldorf to Vienna onboard one of their Embraer 195 and then from Vienna to Barcelona onboard an A321. The crew was very kind, they gave around chocolate which you don’t see that often anymore in Europe and the legroom was spacious on both airplanes. Can’t complain about them at all, only thing: Vienna Airport (Terminal 3, F-Gates) wasn’t the nicest airport I have seen
@@vinzenzrichter9216 A good airline wont lose your bag at their main hub and if they do, they will find it. Because it is their main hub. Pathetic effort to lose a bag at your main hub and then make ZERO effort to find it. They’ve actually palmed off the problem to a company in another country.
Thank you! I'm on my first ever long haul flight from Vienna to JFK in about a week and it's also with my home airline Austrian. Thanks for the insights :)
Wow - better coffee than you had on the Hawaiian Air flight - who knew? This is one of those airlines you don't hear much about but seems really nice! thanks for the video Jeb!
I also flew Austrian for the 1st time on March 28th 2022, route BKK to VIE on their B772 in J class. I enjoyed it, but I didn't like the IFE system. Your videos are very well done, i really enjoy the channel. Happy landings!
In 2000 on Thanksgiving Day I flew from Dulles to Vienna on Austrian Air in business class. It was a lot different then, no lie flat seats but still very enjoyable.
I'm about to take my 1st trip on Virgin Atlantic Upper Class on their 330-300 ATL-MAN and on to AMS via KLM on the relatively new Ebraer 195. Love your videos. Just the right amount of the right info. Thanks.
A few new airlines that I’d like to try out are Emirates, Qatar, United, British Airways, Breeze and Avelo. Also Austrian seems like a great airline. Thanks for the review!
@@Kaviationfilms , for puerile excuses.., and it is not just delays, rude, unprofessional, untrained, plus, in three different German airports, I've got more support, assistance, sympathy - disabled Veteran - then in EWR, and I am not a German veteran
I've taken two red eyes to Europe. 1 to the Azores and 1 to London, both from Boston. Yeah, just not enough time to get proper rest. We had a crazy tailwind to the Azores, too. 4 hours flat. Left at 10PM and landed in the dark and fog.

Considering all the places you’ve traveled you could probably venture into doing some international history, probably with much of the footage you already have edited out of these.
Wish I could afford these travels but it’s great watching you travel and treat the airlines, and railways fairly
Thanks for the watch spotting!! PP is an excellent option considering your destination. Would love to see the rest your collection. Enjoy Bavaria!
Great Video I’ll be flying Austrian Business class next month. Now im very excited. Thank u for a great video. Also thank you for not coming across ungrateful like most UA-cam travel reviews that love to complaint about First and Business class.
Amazing views of NYC. Stunning!!! Great video, Jeb! (As always).
Fun fact about the Zweigelt, it's an invented grape. Created in the 1920s! Also, Austrians take great pride in their coffee. The Vienna Coffee house is a thing of pride!
another great video Jeb, amazing views on departure from Newark
1:42 Everybody and their mother compares some other burger to In-N-Out. I'd say that this routine comparison bodes well for the 'In-N-Out is the best burger around' argument. Why else would so many feel it necessary to compare? Great video again, Jeb!
My next new-to-me airline will be Finnair Business Class MIA-ARN on their A350-900 later this year (likely with their new AirLounge sofa-type seat and the new bedding, although their other biz class seat would still be fine with me, too). Very excited about that flight!
I'll take them from lax to hel to bkk in J early next year to enjoy non stop 359 experience
Good to see the Queen of the Skies still doing a job. Well done Lufthansa.
We’re flying Air France for the first time in August. We cannot wait, our first long haul business too!
What a nice video! As an Austrian I am very glad you enjoyed our flag carrier!
They lost my bag at their own center hub - complete joke of an airline
@@tvbox7083 that can happen to any airline. I am sure you will get a refund.
@@vinzenzrichter9216 A good airline wont lose your bag at their main hub and if they do, they will find it. Because it is their main hub. Pathetic effort to lose a bag at your main hub and then make ZERO effort to find it. They’ve actually palmed off the problem to a company in another country.
Another great video Jeb - your videos are so calming and interesting. Have a great day!
The JetBlue Airbus seen at 7 minutes 19 seconds into the video totally reminds me of British Caledonian's livery. Awesome!!
Looks like you had a great trip.
My "new to me" airline will be Avianca from LHR-LIM via BOG. Can't wait. Loved your videos about Amtrak!
I will fly on Edelweiss a340-300 from Calgary to Zürich this sommer. Can’t wait!!!
I also flew Austrian for the 1st time on March 28th 2022, route BKK to VIE on their B772 in J class.
I enjoyed it, but I didn't like the IFE system.
Your videos are very well done, i really enjoy the channel.
Happy landings!
Absolutely fantastic trip report Jeb!😸
In 2000 on Thanksgiving Day I flew from Dulles to Vienna on Austrian Air in business class. It was a lot different then, no lie flat seats but still very enjoyable.
Wow Jeb, you're an absolute legend. Those views !!
Greta video! I just did this route end of last year along with Swiss Business…. Hard to beat those airlines quality!
Great video. Love Austrian flew it years ago to Vienna. Even in economy, the food was very good.
Another great video Jeb! Keep up the great work 👍👍
Also flying Austrian for the first time to Bangkok in June. Looking forward to it!
Super helpful. Planning on giving Austrian Airlines Business class a try sometime soon.
I'm about to take my 1st trip on Virgin Atlantic Upper Class on their 330-300 ATL-MAN and on to AMS via KLM on the relatively new Ebraer 195. Love your videos. Just the right amount of the right info. Thanks.
I absolutely adore your videos, Jeb. I really hope you can film some more videos at O’Hare.
Really enjoyed this review , thanks and looking forward to our Business Class flights in September
Before COVID, Austrian used to have a rolling trolley with a multitude of appetizers you could chose from - as much as you want!
A few new airlines that I’d like to try out are Emirates, Qatar, United, British Airways, Breeze and Avelo. Also Austrian seems like a great airline. Thanks for the review!
If you respect yourself, stay away from United, a very poor excuse for an airline, from A to Z
@@mc152938 Yes I have no clue why I said that. United does delay every flight
Great video as always... I did a new airline for me on Sunday for vacation to Portugal flying with tui. Quite impressed
