Good name change as they were honouring the bands illustrious past but playing newer and different material . Nice to see Dean and Hopper still in the lineup .
En hommage à Soft Machine, j'ai donné comme prénoms à mon fils : Michael, Elton, Dean. J'ai envoyé un faire-part de naissance à Elton (c'est Pip Pyle, de Hatfield and the North, qui m'avait donné son adresse lors d'un concert), et il m'a répondu fort gentiment. C'était en 1974.
@@EH_ALLE_DOOF You're right : even if John Marshall was a good drummer, The Soft Machine deserves a drummer such as Mr Robert Wyatt. And, of course, the great Mike Ratledge on keyboards !
He was an incredible musician and writer, it seems weird to me how he seemed to just disappear from music, Hopper, Wyatt, Ayers, Holdsworth, Jenkins all continued making significant contributions but not Ratledge.
Agree but at least they had the decency to change the name . A fine band none the less . Rutledge , Dean ,Hopper and Wyatt was the finest Softs lineup .

Whodahell izzat on drums?.. sure as hell ain't John Marshall, who is currently in Soft Machine, back to using that name, supposedly to mark 50 years of Soft Machine, although the last original member, Mike Ratledge left in '75... I think they should stick with Legacy, in honor of Robert Wyatt, Hugh Hopper, and Ratledge, and Elton Dean...

Lost interest in the Softs around the time of "Bundles" . Missed Dean and Jenkins saxs . Still my favourite band though .
