How to make charcoal briquettes binder using starch?

This video showing how to make useful charcoal briquette binder, using normal starch.
For charcoal briquettes making, we can use compund type binder or starch. But if we use starch, we need working in these ways:
1) Cook the starch to transparent.
2) Add sodium hydroxide then use cool water to cook starch.
And easier way is like this video shows, using boiling water mixing starch. We can use corn starch, cassava starch etc based on which kind of is easy and lower cost for your local to get.
