Shakers - I use the larger pill bottles from the pharmacy. One of the positives of having a chronic condition that requires medication. I drill 1/8" or so holes in the cap, partially fill the bottle with the scenery product I want, put on the cap and shake away. Scenic Cement application. I use an old white glue bottle and mix up my mixture of Scenic Cement (1/2 Modge Podge, 1/2 water, some alcohol, whatever) and fill up the old glue bottle then I have a cap and I can easily dribble my "Scenic Cement" wherever I want without having to use a pipette or other similar device. For getting into tight spots I use a large hypodermic.
Larry, I wanted to pass on to you that I have started my Model Railroad. Now, I am an N Scaler, but your series of "Let's Build A Model Railroad" has been very helpful to me. I have gone back to many of your previous presentations, and followed what you were doing. I started out building without any previous knowledge, so what you are doing has a lot of application for me and I have implemented these into my construction. There are times I have to scale down to make it appropriate for N Scale, but you have been a big help. Thank you, and please keep up the good work. Thanks.
Another nice video! Your step by step approach is very helpful, especially to those who might have never attempted the very textured type of scenery that you created with a few patient steps. Thanks for another great video.

Great piece of scenery work Larry. The gravel finish to the yard areas looks good. A mix of fine ballast and ash applied to track would finish the yard ? Happy New Year too.
Very nice and informative. FYI- I don't know if WWS ships to the US but many of their products are available in the US at the WWS Amazon store. Keep up the great work.
Sorry if I've missed it, but have re-watched the first 10 minutes or so trying to determine what modge podge you use (it comes in gloss and matte)and if it's diluted. Didn;t see that you described. Thanks!
Thanks for a really great video. I am new at modeling and was wondering if you allow the first layer of scenery material to dry before soaking the area with isopropyl alcohol? I am asking because I get “craters”. How does one fix the craters?
Generally I would but didn’t have time this week so managed with it tacky. After the base layer you can just lay it on wet for subsequent additions of other materials. I also switched from dribbling alcohol and glue to spraying it when I went to locking in the scattered sections. You need to really thin the Mod Podge to get it to go through a spray bottle and not clog, plus it takes a couple days to dry especially when it is as humid as it has been here.
@@TheDCCGuy Yes thanks for that Larry, I was wondering the same thing. I've been following your videos for some months now and althouigh I've been a Railway Modeller all my life I always learn something new from you, whether it's DCC or now a new build. I'm in the UK so I find it good to hear different ideas from the US. Keep it coming and Happy New Year. Phil in Peacehaven Sussex UK.
Yes, I too learn a lot fro UK modelers, especially Chris Nevard-his scenery tips are superb. I subscribe to Model Rail where he is a frequent contributor.
Larry-- The glue you're using in the eye dropper, is that just while glue like Elmers, or is that the Modge Podge, and what is your glue/water ratio? Thanks for the great videos!
That is Mod Podge in about a 1:1 ratio but plain old PVA will work too. I find that the thinner “glue” infiltrates better and still does the job. For spraying it you may have to thin more depending on how small the spray head opening is. Always clean glue out of everything after each use as it will permanently clog if you don’t.
Yes, I have the fence posts lined up in a painting jig right now, and will do them this week. However, I need a few more posts to do the entire area-another order on hold.
Hi Larry - A word of caution. Do not put cattle and sheep in the same field. Not realistic. Sheep eat the grass closer to the ground so the cattle can't graze after the sheep has been there. Love your clips!!!! Just worried about putting Decoders in N-Scale steamers, like a 0-6-0 with a slope back tender or a K-4 Pacific. Happy New Year!!!!
My grandfather grazed sheep and cattle on the same pasture for decades and never had any problems. Last year I put a Tsunami2 sound decoder, speaker, and keep alive in a B&O 4-6-2 tender so I know it is possible.

Loved this video, great techniques Larry, thank you.
Outstanding scenery video! Looks incredible!

Nice info Larry great job!
Nice video, I used basket liner for my greenery, glued it onto oasis..easy to shape and really pleased with the results
I have seen that suggested somewhere too. Looks like it would be a good briar patch.
Hi there i love the way you do your scenery it looks great i am enjoying your videos on building this layout.
best thing about scenery, is it can never be wrong. always random. and if you are not quite happy with a spot you can always add a bit more.
Right on, and remember the world is not a putting green so layer up.
Another awesome video learn something each time thanks
A Happy New Year Larry. Only just 2021 and a new Video already. Thank you.

Great show, as always. You do great work.
[thank, you for great helpful video]👍

Geek Gaming Seanice and yes you can buy them in the US they do have a large line of products at certain locations.
Thanks, I’ve bookmarked them for future reference.
Great work, as always! Happy New Year!
really good info
Great job.
loved the video
Model Junction stock Scenic Express material in the UK. But you will have to be quick if you want something as they plan to close at the end of March.
Wow, very informative! Can't wait to flock my HO farm.
Butalua Gracilis(Buffalo Grass) is normally a forage livestock really enjoy eating. Clumps don’t show up unless pasture hasn’t been used early spring.

That may be next week’s video.
Actually, War World Scenic products can be purchased through Amazon in the US.
Yes, I think another viewer mentioned that.

Always use matte for scenery unless you want glossy grass and ballast.
Thanks for a really great video.

Do u know if AK Interactive would ship to the US? Same with Brunel Hobbies.
9:10 paper towells? no.
always good idea to brush OFF the edge, not onto the edge
Great video Larry. Are you going to be adding fencing ?
Yes, I have the fence posts lined up in a painting jig right now, and will do them this week. However, I need a few more posts to do the entire area-another order on hold.
It looks great. But, why did you paint the surface? You can’t see any paint, seems like a waste of money and paint.
Good question.

7:20 of way too much talking before doing anything
You do know how to scroll past the introductory sections if you’re not interested in that, right?
