- Hey guys...today I am reviewing the car stereo that I installed in one of my previous videos (that you should check out), to give you an idea if this would be good for you, and what type of features and apps come with it. Thanks for watching, and comment below if you have a question...thanks;-)
I just ordered my kit for my 09 Honda accord V6. Comes with plug and play wire harness and everything. I also order front and rear dashcam so I’m hoping I can download app for dashcam and watch it when I need to on the screen. And watch UA-cam in my car on lunch break or when I need it. I travel and eat in my car a lot so it be great for that as long as it actually works well.
Could you share your experience? Is it fitting correctly in the center console space?

Awesome Chris!!!! I don't think you will be dissapointed, because I absolutely LOVE mine! If you have any questions when installing don't hesitate to ask...so happy to hear someone else is going to enjoy this tablet (stereo...I just call it a tablet now because it looks like one:-)...maybe you can tell me more things about it after you get it, because seems like I find something new everyday!

This is an awesome review! Definitely convinced to get one for my 2006 Honda element now : ) The only thing I'm debating on is whether to get it installed by a professional or do it myself - is it challenging?
Hey Ducky...nah, isn't to difficult, and if for some reason you get in over your head, tape off any exposed wires indiviually, and take it to a "professional", and they can finish. It will be cheaper anyways because you will have all suplies. You will need to get wire harness specific to honda element and dash mount kit specific to element too. Let me know how it goes!
@@hurstysgarage If you half do it and bring it to any reputable shop, they'll likely charge the same amount AND give you the stink-eye for not just bringing it there first. Undoing somebody else's mistakes is the worst.
Have you done anything with your Aux inputs (RCA)? I cant get audio through mines to work, but every other input & output works fine so far. Also was able to use android auto with my headunit.
No, haven't used the RCA connections...yeah, doesn't make sense they dont put out sound. Does it produce video signal? Thing to check first and its not fun...is to pull radio out and check connections...then check rca cable running from unit to whatever you are running with it (for obvious signs of damage)...and if you can, try and swap them (rca) out. Then if you have something else with rca cables and can plug that in and check, that would be good too. Try those options and let me know if that works!
I have the same radio but my screens look different what version of android does yours have mine is 9.0 I don't have sound settings ... can't control the sub volume
Hey Alan, that is really strange...I have the 9.0 too! But I got mine when they first came out, and I have noticed that they are different now, and have more features (like split screen). Not sure about the Sub, since I did not have that option in my vehicle. Have you tried contacting Hikity customer service yet...I would give them a shot to see what they say, cause it might be your head unit that is malfunctioning. I don't have that stereo anymore, so I can't trouble shoot that with you. Let me know how it goes though if you would, that way we might help someone else too. THANKS FOR WATCHING, and commenting!
Hi Hursty, could you tell me if your using the google navigation sat nav on the device can you still listen to music at the same time? can you listen to music through all channels ie radio mp3 spotify etc while the satnav app still runs? cheers
Hey Ashley, great question! I've only used it with the radio so far (while Nav is on), and YES, it can do both at same time...it just will speak over your music when giving you turning directions and the like:-)
$87 Amazon, thinking about getting it even though I'd prefer an Idoing or Teyes but being poor has its perks. How's yours holding up?
Crap M Knight, they sure went down compared to when I bought them:-) I still like mine, and I don't have too many gripes to tell you about, so if you can get it for 87 bucks I would definitely hold that one up to the higher choices on a list to get! Hey valleyfornia...go to home screen, swipe down from top screen till you see switch and notify and touch switch...then touch car amplifier...then you can touch car settings and sound settings to adjust equalizer:-)
mines so slow, is there an update or a decent reboot app? I factory reset it and its junk
You probably have a model with low RAM capacity.

It comes with a harness with naked wires, without connector.
Some cars need to buy a dash kit and dedicated harness/adapter if you want perfitly fitted.
Do a search for your vehicle dash kit (2 din)...stereo is universal so should fit any 2din dash kit for specific vehicle (may need slight modification).
I did installed my android unit and also did installed my backup camera on my 14 Ridgeline. I didn't like the little camera display on the mirror that's why i got several scratches on my bumper.
After install the camera on the tailgate, i tries to hack the wiring to the cable from roof connecting to the mirror, but unsuccessfully because can't figure out the wires code.
The wiring not too bad i run it along the trimmer and dropped it down from the backseat.
I enjoy the unit very much, however i like the voice control ( little wally) robot.
Sometimes the robot is on the display and sometimes is not, do you or anyone know how to activate the robot icon?

Doing a little research. Could someone answer me if the data link between the head unit and phone, is it through phone's hot spot or usb tethered?
Thanks for comment Todd...for the data link you will have to use USB cable provided...and android phones have to download their app (TIMMS), for it to work:-)

This is the one I got...but when I originally purchased it about 7 months ago, it was 139...so not happy they raised it up so much...sorry, it was a heck of a deal...I think still good, but not great like it was!

how did you find the manuel app?
The app is on the home screen pre loaded from factory...and you can find a general manual not necessarily specific to hikity in a general google search for 8227L (our stereo number)
I just got one. How do you get Hulu to play on it? I can download the app. Load it up. Then when I start a show or movie it will say cant play error or something to that effect. Anyone have this unit and know how to get Hulu to work. Thanks

Can you split screen nav/radio?
Unfortunately Big Reg... you can listen to the radio, but then when you switch to the navigation tool, it goes right to that app and takes up the whole screen... You will still hear the radio , but you cannot do a split screen that I am aware of. That feature would definitely be nice, but at the price point it is, and the amount of features you get with it, it served its purpose, but that sure would be a cool thing to have :-)

How's it holding up
Hey Arnold...I had it installed in my Ridgeline for about 6 months, then put another head unit in, and gave this one to a buddy (I get a whole bunch of stereos to review and switch out frequently). He LOVES it, and it still works like it should! The only thing I would say that I didn't like...don't put to many apps on internal drive, because it will eventually slow it down too much. Other than that, It was great for the money at the time. I believe now that they have changed this model and added features like/ split screen. If they keep the price low, and comparable to the lower end models...you can't go wrong with this option:-)

Absolutely ThatVegas...I saved a picture of my dream car off the internet and use that as my wallpaper background 😀

Awesome man, glad you got it! Yeah. The only thing you will probably have to get to use those controls is a interface controller for steering wheel controls. My truck didn't come with any controls, so that didn't apply to me.

Hello Andres...they have a couple of options...the 1gb AND the 2gb. I got the 2gb so I could download a few things without it slowing down and so far that has paid off! But you can get the cheaper version, just don't expect to put a lot of things on there without clearing things out frequently. Course, I do that anyways...and if you use the screen mirror option, then no need to worry about that:-)

Sorry Dan I didn't get back with you soon as possible.. I don't have the vehicle anymore, it is with my daughter on the other side of the country so, as far as I know everything is still great and she hasn't complained so I would say it is still a big thumbs up:-)

Mine is having trouble connecting to wifi/hotspot. It was working fine for about 4 months but now it can't connect. Anyone have any ideas?
Shoot, sorry to hear that man...sounds like an internal issue, and might need to be sent back to manufacturer. I would look in settings under wifi and check to make sure they are correct, and then call Hikity customer service to see if they could help out a bit. Hi, I got the harness for my 2007 car. Will I also need an installation/ dash kit for my car to install? Don’t remember seeing u use a dash kit to do the install other than what came in the box along with the parts you removed from the car. Am I missing something? The guy that will be installing for me is telling me that I need an installation kit.

Hey Mauricio...Hikity cheaped out on us and the manual is only in the app on the radio. And it doesn't tell you how to install camera, but my other video goes over how to do that:-)
I went to two shops to install this head unit. One would not touch it. The second shop said I would lose my Steering Wheel Control. I bought the PAC specifically for this. He said something about the signal from my car's computer blah blah I don't understand the jargon. Basically, he said if he installed the PAC it could "Short" the car and become a hazard.
He said if I bought a name brand I could keep my SWC. I hate to lose my SWC function for safety reasons. I own a 2005 Chrysler 300c is there anyone out there with a 05 300c that could shed some light?
I'm starting to think I made a mistake. The appt. to install the Hikity head unit and camera is for Monday 06-28-21 without SWC fuction. bummed Angel from The Bay
Hey Earth Angel...I'm so sorry to hear that! If built in learning controls don't work, they do make universal program units that convert SWC signals but you have to buy the adapter (ASWC-1 control adapter). But always follow professional advice over anything said here...please let me know how it goes!
@@hurstysgarage Thanks man. I told wifey and she told me to just buy the brand name stereo my heart was set on and install the Hikity in her 2006 Chrysler 300.
She bought me the Kenwood DMX1057XR that is scheduled to be installed on 07-06-21on my 2005 Chrysler 300c. My car has steering wheel control, hers does not.
It looks good but I don't care for the length of time it takes to download apps. She likes it and it does sound pretty good in her car.
Wifey spoils me, I can't wait until I get my new head unit and backup cam in.
The last thing I wanted was to lose my SWC for a radio. I'm serious the shops here in the Bay Area, CA basically turned me away and the other one advised against installing it.

I got this for my Honda and it rocks, the only thing I can’t figure out is how I can make the logo pop up after I start up my car. It always just jumps to the main screen like yours did at the beginning of the video. Any suggestions??
Hey Chris...I will have to get back to you on that because mine always goes to the last thing I was on...like radio, or local music, youtube, etc.

Hey James, great question...yeah, a lot of them I downloaded (thus the reason I went with more storage, 2g). As long as you don't treat it like a phone and download 50 or 60 apps, you can install a few and it still maintains its original speed

do you need an internet connection to use the GPS or will it work with the GPS antenna? thanks
technically Sunita, you will need to have a connection initially to download offline maps of your area, to be able to use the preloaded Here app for GPS, or Google maps. Once you do that, then you would be good to go. But I have noticed, that if you do not download your area maps, the GPS will not work. I have not used another external GPS app (which you could), because the areas I travel, it works flawlessly with above technique.
If anyone else has anything else to add...please help out Sunita if your experience is different.

Hey Orbin gaming...ok, give me a bit to see what I can research up for ya. Sorry about your problem...I'm driving the ol' truck today using my stereo right now, but as soon as I get stopped and get some internet...we will see what we can do:-)
Ok, From what I'm seeing in the manual...I'm hoping this works, and we can try something else if it doesn't... okay, this might not be a fun option oh, but it might be shorting out on one of the wires that you had connected in the back, which is in turn having it constantly boot back up again... So that means you have to open up the dash up again and take the radio out and make sure that you have the wires connected right first, then make sure that they are individually wrapped and not touching one another, cuz that can short out something in a hurry fair trade. And make sure that all of your connections are and secure... And then we'll go from there and hopefully that works. Then if it's not that, we'll have to go try something else so let me know:-) crossing my fingers

I bought the $179.99 unit from Amazon made by Hikity. It has an orange KEY2 cable coming from the power harness from the back of the head unit. I have no idea where to connect that to in a 2011 Honda Accord EX with no navigation. The only other wire coming from the harness is a pink wire that is not labeled. The other wires Reverse and Antenna or labeled. Any advice? I haven't taken the care apart yet but trying to do all th research I can before starting. I guess the KEY2 wire has to be connected somewhere for my steering wheel controls to work.
How do you get it to download contacts from the iPhone via Bluetooth? It doesn’t work for me but when paired with with an Android there were no problems

Does it boot into the FM radio source EVERYTIME it boot up? That would be annoying for me since i dont listen to FM radio. Can that be change?
Hey Brandon... at first I thought it did, because seemed like every time I turned it on, it was on that...but then realized that it only stays on what you last shut it off with. So if you were on say your playlist , it would come up on the playlist! LOL , yeah I don't listen to the radio much either but when I first got it, seemed like I was on there a lot, and so it would pop up and I'd be like gosh dang it :-) Thanks for the comment:-)

Does it drain the your car battery? How to take off sleep option?
Hello Evamay...I know it looks like it would be a HUGE drain on battery, but It doesn't drag that much off your "juice", as long as you don't use it constantly with engine off of course like any other electronics! And sleep option is in settings where you can change that option. Are you thinking about getting it, or do you already have one? Thanks for comment by the way:-)
Hey how do I hook up a USB drive when I plug a USB drive or solid-state into either of the two USB ports nothing comes up in files am I doing something wrong thank you

Did you unit come with the two blue wires and rca for back up camera? If so how’s you hook up the blues?
Hey John, no mine came with only one blue wire...if you watch my video on how to install backup camera, I go in to detail on how to hook the blue wire and the yellow rca video wire. Let me know if that helps:-)

Amazing product. But my balance doesn’t work. I have the sounds only on the rear speakers. Also, my steering wheel controls doesn’t work. Please help.
Hey eEvangeliste...It is an awesome...I love mine! Ok, lets try the easiest thing first...go in to equalizer settings for and make sure that is equal and not fully in rear. Then, the harder part, make sure front speaker wires left and right are attached properly and separated and also hooked up to the right wires. Then if still not, then you can check to make sure front speakers even work by switching back speaker wire to front speaker wires instead and seeing if that works.
The steering wheel controls...check the easy thing first by going to settings that contain steering controls and try setting controls there...check online manual for instructions in app on home screen for a little extra help...then if that doesn't help, you might need to order steering wheel control learning box on Amazon which is not much but still costs a bit, but converts the signal to stereo, but try other stuff first! I didn't use mine because I don't have that option, 😆

Hi i have the same android radio and I am trying to get my USB ports to play my music that is on my USB stick and its not working for me

Ok Mike, I tried contacting Hikity and haven't got a response yet...but, I did see that one of the USB ports is designated for input flow than the other...so try the other cable and see if it works with that one. Ill keep digging...let me know if that helps:-)

Hey terry... unfortunately yes oh, you have to run wire with the backup camera that came with my kit in my head unit purchase... That's why I made the video, because there are a few ways to do it, but this seemed like it was the easiest:-) not sure if they make a Bluetooth one, but if you can find it oh, that would be the way to go because you can skip everything and go right to mounting at where you would like in the back! What type of Screen protector do you use for your hikity?
Hey Joshua...I bought these tablet screen protectors from the Dollar General about 4 years ago, and never ended up using them! So, they didn't fit perfectly, but a quick cut here and there, and now I'm protected. They weren't the best quality, and I don't know if they have them still...but might be worth a try to check them out. THANKS FOR WATCHING and COMMENT!

I have this stereo. I really like it a lot. However I had it installed without the brackets Android so it fell out and something knocked the touch screen settings off. I was trying to reconfigure those with the settings. But couldn't figure it out. So I decided to factory reset instead. But it got stuck in boot loop. I have read on here that I need to do a firmware update through the USB ports with a flash drive. But I am having the hardest time finding the download to this unit. Can you help? I have emailed the support center an email address that I found on Amazon where I bought it. No response. I have just been googling and researching but still no luck.

How do you change the color setting for the button
I don't have my truck with me right now, so I can't show you for certain...but I think this is how you do it...Go to Settings > Display > Wallpaper, or touch and hold the background on the Home screen, then the window Choose wallpaper from will pop up, or tap on the status bar and the options to change choices should be there. Sooo....how do you remove the unit once it's in place if you need to remove the dash?
Hey Josh, it's kind of a pain, but you just remove it from the opposite side where you put it on, which in my case, is start from the door side of the car trim panel, and work your way past the steering wheel, obviously unplugging the various connections first, and then sliding it over the faceplate of the radio! And I can say this from experience yes, because when I had it fully assembled, I forgot to plug in one of the connection points for the temperature controls and had to take the whole faceplate off as well as a few Choice words from my mouth:-)

Hey Operation life...Time setting you have to go into GPS setting and determine your zone which sets time automatically...if you want to manually, you turn off option and then set. To acess music option (local and internet or. Phone) you have to download Timms app from internet, then connect Usb to phone and go to "local music".
@@hurstysgarage yeah....that's what I thought. My system is not allowing me to change the time zone in the GPS settings. It's stuck 'gray' saying I'm in china
Yeah, for some reason they made the clock such a pain in the rear to figure out! I also had a different time zone for 6 months, hehe...thanks for comment buddy:-)

What's the sound quality?
Hey Joel...sounds pretty good in my Ridgeline! Does have an built in equalizer, and an extra HiFi button that gives you a "kick up" in your base, trebble etc. I am not dissapointed in sound quality, and I don't think you would be either (for the price, although they have gone up in price and starting to get a little pricey).

Hey Will, I think you have to download there app first before you can use that feature...It is called TIMA. Go to app screen, then find phonelink app, then hit mobile phone qr code or put in Tima app in play store or equivalent. Then follow their instructions...hope that helps:-)
Ok I got it working.. but when mirroring off the phone I cant doing anything on the stereo screen I have to do it on phone

Yes Sammy, it does have the mirror link option. You just follow the prompts in the pre-installed app to access that option:-)

You have to go to phone link app on screen and follow instructions given when either connecting through wifi/bluetooth or usb connection...which they want you to download Tima app to be able to use mirror link or other features

Possibly Diego, but if you just use there mirror link option, then no need to, because your phone is the companion to the unit. Or like with my plan (boost mobile), I Hotspot the headunit, and can watch or do anything that way. But, let me know if you try the chip route...I'm very curious about that:-)
I would do that and had wifi on my 2016 Silverado. But it would seem slow thinking about just getting my stock radio back
Yeah sometimes it's not worth the trouble... And the stock radio works just fine:-)

Hey Ebe...thanks a bunch! Now, on the description page for the radio, it says it does, but I do not have the controls as an option on my RL, so I have not personally done tbe hook-up.

Hey God ChosenSon...it is not specifically compatible, but that's only because the dash opening space and finding the right dash mount kit...which means you would have to some modification to dash kit to make it fit. Aftermarket harness and wiring all would work. Let me know what you decided:-)

Hey LORENZO...according to Hikity, if that happens, the head unit needs to be reset in the settings, or reset by removing power from it. If that does not work, contact Hikity, because it might be a bad unit! Let me know how it goes...crossing fingers!

Ok Lorenzo, I got the same advice through Hikity that I initially told you to do, except, they did say you might be able to return product through company purchased if they had more exact detail (this is through Amazon, and there store there). I suspect that you got a bad unit, so send that crap back to them as soon as possible 😉

And yeah, this thing is been awesome, of course I usually just use the radio feature, the navigation feature, and I watch Netflix and Hulu on long trips:-) haven't run into anything that I can really say I don't like about it yet, but I will let you know if I do!

Hi, i have this product. In regards to the radio, is there something specific you have to do to find radio stations. Mine won't work which is a bummer? Also for a factory reset it asks for a pin. Any idea what that would be? Thanks a lot!

Not a dedicated one...just an AMP-C wire on rca cable connection you hook in to back of head unit.

If you are using your own amplifier/sub, please check its power cables wiring:
Positive to car's ACC, negative to battery negative
You don't need to connect it to this car radio's "radio antenna control wire" or "amp control wire"
Then the amp will be turned on once your car is on, and work with all audio playing modes.
