I wish James Cameron hired Gareth Edwards and The Creator was actually the future war movie and direct sequel to T2. Obviously there would have to be a few plot tweaks here and there to connect to the original 2 films but It wouldve done so well at the BO if it had the Terminator name attached to it.

I’m a full time college student, but I film weddings on Saturdays for work. So, when I have a wedding, I save the Reelblend episode and listen to it in my car driving out to middle-of-nowhere Mississippi. When I don’t have a wedding, I watch the video.
Coldplay did something really awesome last year in October, they actually livestreamed one of their shows in Buenos Aires to theaters. The first night it was broadcast live, then they replayed the broadcast the night after, and back in April they released an edited version with some additional footage during the credits in theaters again. But each time it was only 1/2 nights that it was available and not in many theaters, either. I don't know how many people who are not hardcore Coldplay fans even knew about it 😅
Here in France, we were inundated with The Creator trailer at the cinema, long before it came out, so I was hyped to see it and STILL I was blown away when I rushed out to see it the morning it came out!! I say that because so often we can't help but be kinda disappointed when we get hyped for a film , but this one even surpassed the hype!!
I liked The Creator especially for its visuals and it also had a great world where certain concepts were twisted around. However, the script was lacking in a lot of ways, holding it back. I really hope Gareth gets a better script to work with cause he is such a great emotional visual director.
Monsters was the exact same way, awesome movie. Script felt somewhat dry just half way through. The pace of his films are great, but script wise, especially from protagonist POV works til part way, feels left the for the plot to work it's way through the runtime. Which is somewhat okay because that's where the climax is.
I listen to the audio while I'm at work. I work at a print shop, which had that cool Spider-verse poster I sent you Sean. If it's a holiday monday I'll watch it on youtube, and it feels like a treat almost doing it that way.
Keep your head up Gareth, both Blade Runner movies also didnt do well at the box office. Sometimes it unfortunately just happens with great movies. Thanks for making the proper future war Terminator film we never got.
THE CREATOR is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year. I have seen it three times in theaters, and I plan on buying the 4K Blu-ray in the Steelbook packaging when it's on sale at Best Buy, for sure. 😃👍 My other favorites are Guarduans of the Galaxy Vol 3, THE LITTLE MERMAID (2023) yeah you can hate me now, PREY (that is exclusively streaming on HULU), JOHN WICK Chapter 4. Those are some of my other favorites that I can think of now. Anyway I LOVED THE CREATOR!!

I agree with Kevin, The Creator felt like a spiritual sequel to Terminator 2. In my head canon this is the proper Terminator future war movie that we never got. I'm gunna add this film to my future Terminator rewatches. The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and The Creator, gotta nice trilogy now 😊
Just dropping by to suggest the Prime Vision broadcast of Thursday Night Football to Kevin. If you're in love with the beauty of the game, there's no better way to watch it. It's the all-22 angle, so you can see all of the players at once, and they highlight open receivers and trace wide receiver routes and things like that. It's one of the available broadcasts every week. Great episode, as always!
My head canon is that after T2 John Connor became sympatetic towards AI and started developing friendly AI like his Terminator in Judgement Day, and he his Mayas father in The Creator
I love that. I'm adding The Creator to my terminator rewatches from now on as the unofficial third film that concludes the franchise. I was blown away by this film. It really did feel like the proper Terminator future war movie we never got. Instead of Tim Miller, wish James Cameron hired Gareth Edwards instead. If The Creator was an official sequel to T2, I do think it wouldve done really well at the box office. It really does act as a nice conclusion to the Terminator franchise as well.
A24 also just had a fair amount of success releasing the new 4K remaster of Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense. My theater went wild for it. Concert films making a comeback was not on my bingo card for 2023 lol.
Great interview with Gareth! I would have loved to see a longer cut of The Creator since I felt it wrapped up way too fast compared to the slower buildup. Also Depeche Mode Spirits in the Forest (2019) was shown theatrically. Somewhat more limited than Taylor Swift though 😅
I watch all the new episodes of reel blend on UA-cam. Also, for the last few months, I have gone back to listening to all the old episodes. So much fun!
I used to listen to it in 2022 I told Sean my New Years resolution was to watch it on UA-cam I watch it Friday afternoon since I am on the west coast moving back to the east coast this weekend

Here’s three suggestions if you haven’t thought of these already. Martin Scorsese as Flower Moon is just coming out. David Fincher with The Killer coming out. And I’d be very interested to hear what you all think of Kubrick’s filmography aswell. Keep up the good work!
I adored his Godzilla reboot and was disheartened by how disliked it was in 2014. Now that the sequels have satiated the monster battles, it's nice to see how that first film is being reappraised. The new Monarch show on Apple+ clearly is calling back to Gareth's visual sensibility. Love it.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World did not get enough love in theatres. I was so excited for it and saw it twice in a week and was surprised it essentially bombed. That one turned into a slow burn that people found later. Neon Demon is another one I think is underrated as well, it only made $3 million worldwide.

This movie is still in theaters as of this posting, and it will make its $80 million dollars back,so technically, it's not a "bomb" at the box office, but I will admit it is underperforming which is unfortunate but I still love this movie regardless.
The world building and production was excellent, but making the AI the perfectly innocent heroes of the story left no room for any moral ambiguity at all. Imagine if the child NEEDED to be killed, and the conflict the main character would've had to face, instead of the "child" being totally innocent and needing to be saved. What if some of the AI hated humans and some didn't. They were tired of being persecuted, etc.
The Creator was exceptionally average. Visuals felt ripped out of every anime ever. Acting was super flat. What undercover agent yells "IM UNDERCOVER!"? We laughed out loud in the theatre when he said it. Zero belief the main character was emotionally connected to anything. Poorly written, poorly acted, not good. Will not be a classic, Rogue One will be. My two cents, masterclass in mediocrity.
I absolutely loved the Creator, only had 5 fellow cinephiles on the theatre but everybody was very moved by it. Top 5 of the year.

So sad that this movie bombed. It was a wonderful movie.
