I was there yesterday at October 7th 2023. All of the performances in the fleet week show were amazing but when it comes to blue angels I was impressed. I have recently caught a lot of flyovers. Blue Angel 5 in my opinion did the best one that over flew about me. It’s just amazing!

I originally thought Fleet week was related to the Fleet enema brand.

Not so much this year. They've been flying over S.F. since 1950 with a few exceptions during war time. Celebrating the U.S. Navy has been part of San Francisco culture as far back as 1908, when Teddy Roosevelt brought “the Great White Fleet” - 16 battleships and four destroyers - through the bridge-less Golden Gate. The Blue Angels first flew over San Francisco in 1950, with planes painted black for combat. Their next stop was the Korean War. The Blue Angels, already in town for Fleet Week, flew over her Thursday afternoon City Hall funeral several times to honor the former mayor. City leaders received more challenges from citizens who didn’t want a Fleet Week in San Francisco. In 1986 more than 100 high school students parked outside Feinstein’s office, in protest of ships with nuclear power or nuclear missiles entering the bay. “Fleet Week is simply hospitality,” Feinstein told the students. “When the day comes when Americans don’t want to thank the people who serve in the armed forces, this country is in a lot of trouble.” Diane Feinstein is still listed as the honorary co-chair.
