if you noticed, Omega Ridley quickly submerged himself into the ground other than just exploding into bits like the rest of the bosses. and with Phazon having post-corruption healing properties, now we understand how in the fuck Ridley came back in Super outside fan theories like "space pirates clone/resurrected him". thank god for Prime 3 for establishing this.
Actually the explanation comes by way of the Zero Mission prequel manga. Ridley is said to be able to regenerate even from a small tissue sample if that tissue is nourished. At the end of Zero Mission the robotic body you fight at the end is what will eventually be salvaged into the cybernetics of Meta Ridley, with his consciousness inside of the machine. By the time Prime happened enough of Ridley's tissue had regenerated that it was fitted with cybernetics from the robot in Zero Mission. By Prime 3 you can clearly see more tissue has regenerated around the cybernetics and in Super he eventualyl just outgrew the cybernetics.
Many years too late, but well done fight against Omega Ridley. As an additional tip if you ever go back and play again, I like to use Hypermode intermittently while he is flying around as it provides invulnerability, and if turned off right away, completely free.
I remember when I fought him once, he bugged out during the dash attack which locked him in place and being unable to escape. Needless to say, I effectively cheesed this boss due to that bug.
I've read that using the Screw Attack against Omega Ridley will force him to dodge, so couldn't you do that when he does his "twin orbs" attack so he can't finish it?
@TheLastScion1 Indeed I do. Though the name of such creatures escapes me at the moment. The strange thing about Omega Ridley though, is that in this game he actually shows his quadrupedal tendencies. In every other game that Ridley has appeared in, he is predominantly bipedal. So seeing him being predominantly quadrupedal here is a bit of an oddity.
Meta Ridley is a reconstruction of the original Ridley from the first Metroid. He is a cyborg at this point. And yes, he was heavily exposed to Phazon from the Leviathan Seed, increasing his strength.
124shadowthehedgehog It's hard to tell, but I think the idea is that Phazon corruption is also accelerating Ridley's natural regenerative abilities, causing him to begin integrating and/or forcing out the remainder of his cybernetics. You'll notice that his Omega form looks a lot more patchy and chaotic than his sleek Meta form, which I think is a sign that his body is trying to return to a fully-organic state. Now, how he survived this asskicking and the subsequent destruction of all Phazon, I don't know. I'd assume that he somehow fled during the aftermath of that huge Phazon explosion at the end of the fight (note that we never see him actually dying - the scene cuts away/obscures his body when the Phazon explosion happens), and then started re-regenerating his wounds. By the time Phaaze was destroyed, Ridley had healed enough to survive without his Phazon infusion, allowing him to return to the series as a fully-organic being.
He didn't die in Corruption either, he did finally meet his true death in Super Metroid when he fought in his natural form. Also, happy four year reply!
I noticed that at about 5:18 or so the music changed to one that sounded a lot more like the meta ridley theme. Was this in the game or did you add it to it? I haven’t heard it in other omega ridley boss fights so I’m curious
I did yes. At the time it was to compensate the rather poor synching issues. The three songs heard after the main theme were all remixes that were made by a long ago user named Hauntershadow, whom has since long retired from youtube.
you have to admit.
that dramatic entrance + the theme song=awesome

3:59 I spent my whole life not knowing you could do that in prime 3
2:36
I'm hearing a little Ganondorf right here... Not a complaint.
Idk why but I FUCKING love this introduction. I think its my favorite Ridley Intro.
Tbh, the Deaths of Ridley nearly killed me.
Oooooh this was such a great fight on hyper mode...........

@POLICLETO100 Well he is technically a quadruped, so it makes sense.
man ridley walks like a dog
is omega ridley is he combination of meta ridley and 1st form ridley? or he got some of that blue stuff on him that made him stronger?
Meta Ridley is a reconstruction of the original Ridley from the first Metroid. He is a cyborg at this point. And yes, he was heavily exposed to Phazon from the Leviathan Seed, increasing his strength.
oh, it just made him more stronger then meta ridley
He has received heavy Phazon enhancement and is growing back flesh damaged and burned off from previous encounters. Especially that one in the shaft.

+SliverEmperor He didn't. Super Metroid Ridley is a clone. There's like, 3 Ridleys.
Challenge idea: beating the prime trilogy but you’re not allowed to use the lock on feature when attacking (only when dodging).
Not a bad idea actually. I might give that a try soon
@TheLastScion1 Lol, why thank you kindly *bows*
I love this fight
By the way, Hauntershadow's channel is gone. Most of his mixes can be found here, but I'm not sure if all of them are here.

That is the thing though, you never actually kill him in Prime 1

@@cato3277 still, he probably would've lived if Mother Brain hadn't blown Zebes to hell.

Pirate and Ridley have a last letter in the Greek alphabet.
they kinda overkilled ridley he shouldve been done with the first time you kill him in metroid prime 1
alexanderzombie1 nah he’s like ganondorf to zelda. I for one would be sad to see him go
im pretty sure prime 2 graphics were way better =.=
wozzey333 no. like literally no.
