After more than 10 years on youtube, I have finally found the first tutorial that actually gets to the point and doesn't ramble on about the irrelevant.
Ikr. Some of these 20+ minute videos want to give you there life story for some reason.
so true. i hate videos where they chat for 5 mins before getting down to the job in hand lol
Yes!!!
so true! best 5min ever
@@eon001 I once found a pancake recipe on a blog where the writer mentioned she'd make them when her husband was in prison...
Now that's how you do tutorials! Quick and straight to the point! I salute you mate!
I saw a post on Reddit where a woman creates Disney art from photos, but she's booked up for months and not taking commissions. That got me wondering what Photoshop could do and I found your cartoon effect video.
The tutorial was fantastic, thank you! Your teaching method is simple and easy to follow and I was completely successful in creating my cartoon picture from a photograph. As others have noted, your no-nonsense approach without going off on tangents was most welcome!
Oh wow, thank you very much for the feedback.
No long lasting music intros, no BS stuff, clear and accurate, thanks a lot!
Started with Photoshop on MacBook Pro a year ago and really struggled - when Photoshop cc2019 was launched I moved over to the Windows version and the learning curve is easier. I found the style of the training - mentioning the specific keystrokes very useful and informative. I am really happy with my own end result I created from looking at the video - thanks
I hope you found this video helpful. Please subscribe for weekly Photoshop Tutorial videos goo.gl/CGfBCu

Glad it was helpful!
Okay this is the most thorough video on UA-cam like thank you for walking us through it step by step
I love your dialect, I love that you get straight to it AND your instructions are clear and they work. I've been a Photoshop user for over 15 years, but there are so many tools and the sky is the limit for creativity, I can always learn new stuff. Thank you for sharing with us.
I can't thank you enough for this. I'm rereleasing a previously published book series and designing the covers to have a graphic novel look. This tutorial got me exactly where I needed to go.
One of the not so many tutorials that actually work and kick ass!!! THANKS A LOT MAN!!!! Without small talk and crap, with great accent and ON THE SPOT!!
Amazing, no clipping masks, no smart objects, no need for 20 layers, thank you man u are incredible !
Glad you liked it!
Man, I almost haven't needed to watch the video I was just listening to you explaining it so clearly that I didn't miss a step from this tutorial. Great job, man!
Man thank you for actually saying/giving step by step process....i needed this
I am a novice at Photoshop, use a Mac and I would say I'm not the best, but I can follow directions. I have seen several tutorials on how to create a carton effect; and yours by far was the easiest to follow. Not to mention the Caribbean accent was refreshing.
I'm definitley subscribing this was probably the most straightforward tutorial I've seen for photoshop.
I am happy that you found the tutorial helpful. I try my best to make sure the tutorials are very easy to follow.
Thank you for making such a quick and straight forward video!
The easiest straight to the point tutorial I've seen. Thanks so much 💯
This is absolutely the best and non confusing tutorial!!! You were extremely clear and you didn't move fast. Your pace was perfect! Thank You ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Been using photoshop for 3 months and feeling like i am drowning. This is the first tutorial i have found easy to follow without having to rewind and re-rewind and stress! Thank you so much!
I personally tried the Oil Paint effect and didn't like my result, due to the picture I used, but it is still an amazing Tutorial. I did everything except the oil paint effect the second time around, and it worked amazing, so either way, it works! Good tutorial. Subscribed.
Thank you very much for the feedback and the input.
I love your voice it reminds me of Gus Fring of breaking bad. Also reading out every step clearly really helped Thank You!
You're very welcome!
OMG yes, it doesn't get more clear and clean than this tutorial. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
You're welcome!
Brilliant! Going very carefully, I've now saved this as an action. Your tutorials are clear, and at a perfect pace. Many thanks!
PS, 15 yrs of PS
Brilliant tutorial!!!! I'm a pro now. The pace of this was perfect. Thank you for sharing this. xxx
Great tutorial - I feel urged to comment on the pure clarity and even pacing of this tutorial. V good

Best Tutorial of all time on UA-cam
This was the BEST TUTORIAL I have seen so far. Now I feel like I can actually achieve this. Thanks for sharing.
Best tutorial ever!!! Way better than some of the ones I have tried to look at doing the same thing. I'm definitely subscribing.
Thank you for the kind words and I am happy that you found the tutorial helpful. Also, thank you for subscribing to the channel.
Photoshop Amateur no problem 😉
Straight to the point, and its really helpful
the way you explain it is amazing!! a lot of people come across cocky or talk too fast acting like know it all's you take time to communicate and make it simply paced! THANK YOU!
Used photoshop for a few years, went away, now been using it again for a few months!! Thanks so much for the helpful video!
Wow this is amazing!!

I know Photoshop pretty well as I've been using it for years. This channel is amazing as it tells you what all the buttons I don't know are for in a really easy way to understand!
Wow, thanks!
Thanks so much! I followed your oil paint fix and realized I didn't have use graphic processor checked! My portrait also looks great!
You're very welcome!
It's a nice toturial, the problem is that it only works for 8 bit images. It's a shame that the photoshop don't allow this for 16 bit or 32 bit images yet. I really don't understand why most tutorials forget to mention the fact it only works if you change your image in mode to 8 bit instead of 16 or 32 bit ;)
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
This is a great tutorial, and the effect looks good. But when I use the poster edges it puts small black strokes all over the face and arms. The threshold command worked well in your example. But even with different values I couldn't get it to look like mostly outlines as your example. But it's still a great effect so thanks for the tutorial !
Could send me the image you are working with to the below email address. I would like to see why that is happening photoshopamateur1@gmail.com
@@PhotoshopAmateur Same thing happens with me for ANY picture I use. Large black dots every. I've changed sizes, even used the same picture you used, to no avail...
Long shot here but was this issue resolved as I'm having the same thing happen?
I’m having the same problem
I have not seen better tutorial in my life.
Congratulations!! Your presentation was the shortest and easiest and less confusing out of all the other ones I've seen! Thank you for your video presentation! THUMBS UP!
I dont have an oil paint effect CC2015
Super great tutorial video. Clear, slow, and to the point BIG UP fi dat zeen!
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words.
Thanks, its a great tutorial, easy to follow, not used used photoshop for a few years now, had forgotten how to use it. si its good to re learn.
I'm new. This is awesome. Can you save this process as a preset so you don't have to go through all the steps again on a different photo? Again, I'm new, so please forgive my ignorance. Thanks!
What you can do is create an Action, which will allow you to easily apply the effects to other photos. I currently don't have a video showing you how to create an action but here is a link to a video that shows you how.

Thanks for the quick response!
.... let's start training, i'm a beginner !!!! Nice video.... :)
Man!!! You made this super easy.
This is a very good tutorial, and very useful too. I know it was published a while ago, and surely some people must have commented on it, but just in case they didn't here's some info you might find useful: the second setting in "Oil paint" is not "Clean lines", but "Cleanliness" - that's a derivative of "cleanly" (pronounced "KLENLY"), an adjective which means "clean, with no dirt spots."
i have been using adobe photoshop for an hour
I’ve been using photoshop for 3 days 😂
Thank you so much! I love how you speak so clear and don't make any shortcuts! Got straight to the point and helped me a lot!
Thank you for the feedback. I have very happy that you found to tutorial to be helpful.
Oh my freaking goodness, you should see some of the tutorials out there trying to do cartoon effect, its like watching paint dry, but this was freaking incredible, and far more easy to follow. Thanks Fam
I am happy you like the tutorial and found it helpful. Also, thank you for subscribing to the channel.
OMG thanks it is so good you help me to do it ;) can you make a tutorial for tumbnail please
I am happy you found the information helpful. I will put thumbnails on the to do list.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
been using photoshop for years and this was still really helpful, thanks guy
I don't normally comment on tutorials but particular one got me, I have no choice than to like, subscribe and comment... this is the best tutorial so far, well explained... thanks
Wow, thank you!
Not quite right. These settings work for THIS image, but not others. You might want a finer edge depending n the image's size or it's resolution (this image is 300 dpi). You might want a different squiggle from the Oil Paint filter and this is set in stone by the Oil Paint filter. It would be better to paint in those lines. The best you can do when doing it this way, is look at the tiny preview window (which is far too small) to get the number of lines you want and their tapers.
What's shown here is far too mechanical and it's not art. Art is created by the user, not algorythms. However, this shows how you can get there, but YOU have to decide what the posterization is and how the squiggles are shaped. I think that a lot of the time, the user will not be able to get what he wants unless he draws in those squiggles, and also adjusts the width of the outlines to suit the photo. Nevertheless, this shows you how to get there, but I think it best that the artist takes more control.
Also, this tube is old. There's a new feature built into Filter Gallery... Artistic/Colored Pencil. There's an option called Cut Out. You can turn this on along with Colored Pencil or just use Colored Pencil or just Cut Out separately. Play with these seperately or together. See what happens.
Lastly, you can color the outlines by using a clipping mask. Fill that clipped mask with any color and your black lines will change to the color chosen. You can even paint on this clipping layer with various colors so that the line is red in places, green other, or any combination you want that line to be, where you want it that particular color.
At least, this tube is a start and it's a good one. But remember this: Artists make art, not software algorythms. YOU have to make the art. Software has no eye for art. It's only a tool to get to art. This video introduces you to making dark lines and a false oil paint effect (that you should take control over so that it is created correctly for the subject you're working with).
One last thing: I don't want to drastically change a decently looking model, male or female, but you can pull that model out easily by chosing the bottom layer, then choose 'select subject', then copy that selection and paste it onto an empty layer that is on top of the rest. The result is fine model on an artistic background. That's art. The background is far less important so it doesn't have to be perfect, but even a little treatment with the oil paint and outline filters can make your subject really stand out.
This tube is a good starting point for all of this, but don't rely on the numbers used here. The tube shows you how, but you should focus on what your eyes tell you, not what the numbers are here. The tube is very helpful at getting you started!
Thank you much for the detailed feedback.
make a video about it
ur a bully
Art is what the artist wants it to be - NOT what you define it as being.
@@paulmeachen2306 I agree with you, Lengo67 has given his opinion, and i wish he could design it also to show us on his page or something, no offence.
This is method cool but after i've played around with a bit i've learned that it's even easier with topaz labs no pen tool necessary and you will have a greater outcome with this method your options are limited
Thank you for your feedback. That is the beauty about Photoshop there are several methods you can used to achieve an outcome, whether it is with the stand alone program or with the use of plug-ins such as Topaz Labs.
you're' right about that!!!
Thanks for sharing, you are straight forward and a very good teacher. It's really helpful. Love you
You're welcome!
A few hours... Thank you. Straight to the point.
How does this effect differ from the pentool version
This process is less time consuming than the pen tool method. However, keep in mind that there is a noticeable difference between the final outcome of the two methods.
Photoshop Amateur
I'm very new to Photoshop and I see this is less time consuming and also doesn't take the expertise of knowing how to properly use the pentool. I like this method, however you are correct, there is a difference in result. The pentool looks more cartoony I believe and I have a client that wants just that. Does that mean I have to learn how to do that method??
If the client specifically told you they want the final outcome to look like the pen tool method, then your obligation to your client is to provide that result. So yes you will have to use the pen tool.
that doesn t look like a cartoon...it looks like an effect on a phone
Thank you for your feedback.
very helpful and teach nicely.THANKS
awesome tutorial. Not wordy. Simple to follow. Straight to the point. Thank you.
What a superb video!!! Thank you so much.
Thank you for watching the video, I hope you liked it. Also if the Oil Paint filter is disabled here are some step to fix the problem.
