Application of Top Flow. Agronomic and practical benefits of using Top Flow and the logistics implemented by MEAC.
► First of all … what is Top Flow?
Top Flow is the first liquid calcium carbonate. A diagram shows the manufacturing process of this solution and that the calcium carbonate is natural being created millions of years ago by the detachment of limestone plates from settled corals, marine shells ... Once extracted, we add water and formulation agents (Omya patent) allowing the micronized carbonate to remain in suspension without caking.
► What can we expect agronomically from this solution?
Top Flow input is suitable for soil maintenance situations. The Top Flow micronized formulation is available, even at high pH. The objective is to preserve the soil balance because this is an evolving situation. Indeed, more or less natural acidification mechanisms will acidify the environment such as the consumption of cations by plants for their calcium nutrition, leaching, the mineralization of organic matter, the use of acidifying fertilizers (Ammonium, Diammonium phosphate…). This is why it is crucial to provide at least between 150 and 250 units of Neutralizing Value per year and per hectare.
The second objective is to maintain a minimum pH at 6.5 within the 2 to 5 cm in order to optimize 100% absorption of fertilizers with or without mineral filler. Better absorption in these first centimeters means better rooting, better development and therefore faster row cover. In addition, this reinforces the effectiveness and especially the selectivity of root herbicides.
Another objective - often forgotten - when we talk about liming material is its action on the soil structure. Providing the available Ca2+ directly into the soil solution will flocculate the clays and hold the organic matter on one side and the clay on the other, thus will limit soil sealing and optimize crop establishment.
► The advantages of a liquid and dense formulation
The liquid formulation multiplies the number of particles per cm2 which improves efficiency (quality of distribution visible on the two plates - with and without input - placed on the ground during spreading). As a reminder, the product efficiency depends on the regularity of spreading and the quantity, such as for example, slug pellets, plant protection products or organic liming material etc.
The dense formulation (1.8) ensures clean, dust-free spreading. Ideal for spreading close to residential areas. There is no loss when loading or spreading, which means that 100% of the invested product is valorized in the field.
► A turnkey solution
First of all, spreading is carried out by a TERRA-GATOR, a suitable tool equipped with low-pressure tires to minimize impact on soil structure. Moreover, we have a high throughput spreader, rarely stopping due to the high density of the product, which allows resistance to wind and rain. The TERRA-GATOR is equipped with a DPA/GPS : the agriculture application companies map the plots upstream and add these data directly in the TERRA-GATOR console.
Then, all logistics are organized by MEAC. To this end, MEAC created an application called MAGE. Our customer service, carriers and agriculture application companies are connected to this interactive interface and able to provide information, modify the GPS meeting location etc. The aim is to improve responsiveness and fluidity during our spreading operations by pooling and centralizing information.
