Rebuilding The Winch! | Franna Crane Project | Part 18
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Watch as we give our Franna crane winch a complete transformation! First things first we’re getting everything cleaned up using the hotwash for the internal planetary gears and blasting the plates clean with our dustless blaster. But this rebuild isn't just about shining up old parts. We'll be machining brand new components for the cable tension adjuster, starting with making the bosses and shaft with our lathe before drilling and tapping holes for the grub screws in our milling machine. We also countersink the spring arm plates to give a seamless fit for the bolts. With the new parts ready, it's welding time! We'll weld the adjuster plates and bosses together and while the welds cool, we’ll begin meticulously re-assembling the winch. We start with carefully assembling all the planetary gears before they get installed back into the winch drum. Then the plates get bolted in place, before the rebuilt hydraulic motor gets installed and finally, the brand-new cable tensioner takes its place. And just like that, the once-tired winch is reborn! To finish it all off, we'll give it a fresh coat of paint, making it look (and function) as good as new! Stay tuned for the next Franna crane project video or catch up on all the previous videos below 😎👇

So a engineer having his teeth drilled and taped 😂. All jokes aside glad Kurtis doesn't have to deal with 💩 teeth anymore.
The sweetest time of the week… and I made it on time for a change! Whoop whoop!! 🥳🥳🥳
i have been enjoying the project , hope you heal up quickly !
When having any major dental work, ICE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND !
You should rename the episode to "Rebuilding The Teefhss". :D
Congratulations on the new teeth, and condolences for the pain you must be enduring. Thanks for providing our weekly fix on machining videos. All the best.
thanks for the kind words mate, pain wasn't too bad after first few days just uncomfortable feeling and getting used to different teethies but already noticed some great improvements 😁
I had the same work done except opted for the pop in and out dentures. Was a lot of cheaper but in hindsight I wish I would’ve done the more permanent version. Many of my lower implants have failed and I can’t wear the bottoms anymore. Plus they broke in half many times.
Your Australian pearly teeth for the win.
It must give great confidence with rebuilding the crane. Knowing. As you use the crane on very expensive equipment. Nothing was overlooked.
Have the CEE stamp on the crane.

Curtis as much as I would have LOVED to see your video fabricating shop-made teeth, I'm glad you got your dental woes figured out. Hope you are feeling good! Thanks for all the videos!
This is a video that needs to be done!

My All New 32s were 3D printed, egad! They even have my name engraved on them.
Getting that teeth done is not funny. It sounds like a great adventure. But trust me it's not comfortable. Mine was done early in the morning. I had to go and finish a job before sundown. A customer asked me why we're so rough among each other in the factory. I could not realy answer because of the swelling and numbness. Only later realised my mouth was bleeding all over my overalls. Not funny!! 😮
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon here - I do the "All-on-four" surgery every day. It is a big surgery and it takes a lot to go through it. I hope only the best for you, your recovery process, and your future dental health. All the best from the States.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Kurtis! Thank you to both you and Karen for still finding the time to get a video up for us CEE diehards 👍
I'm out in the remote Kimberley (north west Western Australia for you non aussies) and now I know what day is the week it is!
Thank goodness for my new starlink kit otherwise it would be a month or so offline.
I can go without showers but not without my CEE vids 😅
Kimberley is in South Africa and has a very big hole diamonds came out of😁

I've broken bones. I've been married and divorced. I've had multiple kidney stones. I've also had the same dental work done. Let me tell you folks, the pain can be quite a lot to handle. Especially if you have any mental or emotional drop that follows the procedure, when things still need to be adjusted and are causing pain still. I sympathize with Curtis. It's not fun, it's not easy. All of the pain the first few weeks put me into a depression. What snapped me out of it, was getting married a month later and having an amazing smile for the first time in over a decade, and no more dental pain. Curtis, congrats man!
He must have had this going on for a while too. The posts take months to heal and setup before they're ready to support teeth. At least my implant post did.
@@Beakerbite Agreed. The fastest procedure to heal I've heard of was 3 months. Mine was 4 before I was able to chew and eat solid foods. Hats off to the man. It takes a lot of courage to do the procedure, not to mention be willing to talk about it.
Here's to your health and quick healing. Thanks for the video despite recovering from surgery.
Curtis ! Your so worried about how you speak and sound , you have a great Australian accent and we love it , besides your down to earth and a real person both of you , your videos are fantastic and the best parts are at the end with the bloopers ! Thanks again! 👍🏻👍🏻
It's amazing you get everything back together without missing any part or sequence. Great job.
Best part about not being able to sleep is being awake for the youtube notifications "Cutting Edge Engineering uploaded a new video".
Hope the new pearly whites treat you right, glad to hear things went alright! Keep up the good work over there guys 🤙
Good on you Kurtis. Having had significant dental surgery, I am totally sympathetic to your situation. Love your channel - keep up the good work.
Camera work at 10:05 is fantastic. Tks for uploading.
Hope for a speedy recovery and no adverse effects to your business. Thank you for the video, even though I know you may be in pain, and this isn't your 1st priority after major jaw surgery.
It's too bad your dentist didn't make a CEE-style video of your dental surgery. "As you can see, this molar's had a lot of wear and that lets a lot of debris get in there. Rather than ordering a new tooth from the manufacturer we'll be replacing it with a titanium insert. We can see that the last person to work on it did a real shoddy job which led to the incisor being pushed out of alignment so that one's gotta come out too."
Love the new teeff. I hope you get used to them quickly. Nice job on the rebuild and damn I love the Butcherbird interludes.
Got the Colgate smile 😁 I’m getting a Sir Les Patterson vibe 😊
i haven’t been watching the crane videos in order and watched some of the later ones first. I could tell his teeth looked different and he sounded different. Happy you were able to take care of them once and for all.
Always a good Friday when a new video comes 🤙
I’m sure you would rather deal with anything else than go to the Dentist. I couldn’t imagine getting a total dental rebuild, glad it went well. At least you have an excuse for the next few months when words get hard. The attention to detail with the Crane is impressive. Franna might take your crane back to the factory to see what they need to improve. Thanks Karen for the great camera work and editing. It’s always nice to see a happy Homeless and the birds. Thanks for the videos.
Good morning Cutting Edge Engineering Australia, greetings from Germany 🇩🇪.
U got the look of greatness no matter how you look; in the words of old school {U ROCK}.
Great start to Friday 👌. Keep up the great work . Watching you guys in Ireland
Awesome! Thanks for watching over there
Just recently, we were having lunch at the beach at Hervey Bay and a Franna crane drove past on the road. Unlike yours, this one was in really good condition and looked good. No doubt when you finish the rebuild, yours will look even better, just like brand new.
Happy friday everyone. to all the Americans here, have a happy and safe 4th!!
The filming and clipping is excellent! Professionel
Great job Karl, if you can rebuild that Franna for under 100k you’re doing great…
Good luck
You got some hardware done on yourself. Glad they did not break a tap on you. Thanks for all the videos.!
I kept on refreshing my page for this
Oh good..I'm not the only one!
Condolences on the dental work. Had it done myself. Cheers heaps on the update. great viewing.
I’m so happy for you taking care of yourself! I very much appreciate y’all and all you share with us.
Thanks for the candid conversation on teeth, I'm going through the same issue these days, not quite done with deciding. I've really enjoyed your disassembly and rebuild on this crane and winch Thanks for sharing the details.
all the best on your way to full recovery from your surgery
New video from Karen, Kurtis and Homey. ❤❤❤
Commenting for the sake of supporting the channel, but it is true enough to warrant saying.
When it's all said and done, Karen will be more proficient a machinist than many others; I can see her noticing the nuance and detail of the craft, and quite frankly that is an admirable quality that makes a fella hot and bothered, wishing he had such company and companionship.
Thanks you three.
And homeless dropping the toy, when he understood the parameters of the exchange, priceless. Love that goof ball, he reminds me of some friends with four feet that I've known.
I could tell your voice sounded different when I watched part 19 first and I knew exactly what you had done then part 18 confirmed I was spot on and the new teeth look amazing. Congrats mate.
the Franna restoration has taken a life of its own hasnt it? its super satisfying watching it get torn apart and rebuilt properly. dont think i could learn as much anywhere else really glad you doing it, and interspersing customer jobs good content mix. im excited to see it lifting again. its gonna need AC and racing stripes tho :)
Had the all on four myself, years ago, best thing I ever did for my health! Congratulations!
Nice choppers mate! I’m glad you shared this experience because now I’m encouraged to have some much needed work done on my own grill.
Excellent video as always, this channel always delivers the best content. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your dental procedure. All the best wishes!
Yes just got off work and there is a crane video time to relax and get it going
Thanks for still providing excellent free content in spite of your surgery. I can only imagine how much that had to have sucked. In watching you rebuild your crane your hot-rodding roots are obvious. Kurtis Pimps His Crane has been a lot of fun to watch. (I still think you should twin turbo it).
hats off to the video camera and editing person(s) it make for great viewing
Thank you so much!
Hey man, best wishes from Texas wishing you a speedy and painless recovery hoping everything goes to planned and your back to normal soon your Texas friend Chris
From N32W64, -- great job assembly. A pleasure to observe such meticulous work !!
Nice job on the rebuild. The cost of having the pump rebuilt is just piece of mind in the life of the crane. Very good camera work Karen. The double cams on the lathe was cool.
I look forward to your videos on restoring the crane and admire your attention to detail and doing the job right. Oh, yeah, and nice choppers there, too. I'm a fan of your channel and watch from Phoenix, Arizona USA. Thanks for positng.
Congrats to you on sharing something that’s personal and can be embarrassing. Keep up the killer work as always.
Franna project back on, nice.
I enjoyed that biting comment about your surgery. I'm sure you're glad it's done and over. Great rebuild and hello to Karen
Absolutely love this crane project!! Can't wait to see the final result.
I am very impressed with your job I wish I should be there in person😊
Another great video on the crane!! And congrats on the choppers mate, I ignored my teeth for too long... getting them sorted is the best thing ever.
How the devil does this man remember how it all goes back together, he must have a photographic memory. Unless I’d taken a load of photos this winch would finish in the scrap bin. What a fantastic man, a credit to his profession. His pursuit of perfection is never ending. Whatever he charges is deserved. This series is fascinating. Karen could get a job with any film company her filming is brilliant and not to forget Homey providing us with a few smiles along the way. Keep up the excellent work and look forward to the next episode.
The videos are his memory. You can occasionally see him make a point of getting part details/ordering in the videos. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how they started doing videos in the first place.
As a fellow sufferer of chronic dental pain let me congratulate you on the success of your operation.
The cost of the motor rebuild must have been a shocker but as you said it needed to be done.
Y’all have some very needed feathered friends! Kurtis, I Hope you keep getting better after the surgery. Karen thanks for another great video and hope your patient recovers quickly and is not too much trouble!
I would sandblast a whole car with that machine, given the oportunity. Congratulations on your new grill, that must have a been a bit crazy to go through. Still, I wish you had gotten the golden version for extra bling!
Thanks for the video, my Internet friend am amazed how complex the winch is.
New rims for the Franna < new grill for Kurtis.
Also you may want a vertical board of plywood with some 2x4s nailed to it so you can set your small parts on it and sand blast them without hunching over. Thanks for the constant flow of kick *ss videos!!
Just wanted to say thanks for your dedication to sharing the knowledge you have. I'm just soaking it up !!! ;)
Congratulations on new teeth how awesome 🎉 hang in there you'll be used to them in no time... we still here watching and enjoying you both do you!!! Still loving the bleeps after... ❤❤
Excellent smile ... makes you look 10-yrs younger, which is not important to you right now, but take it from an older gent who suffered bad dental all his life ... give it another 30+ years, and you'll be even more glad you had it done now! And ... great work and content, as always. Thanks so much, and very best always. 42-Jack
Thanks for the video. Gnashers look great!
Love it! George serenading you guys.
IM HAPPY FOR YOU CURTYS . WELL DONE.
Great job, guy!
❤️ good on you curtis! Much love from Texas!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Your welding was better than the original
Channeling your inner Zorg (Gary Oldman from T5E) I see. Them chompers look great, hope you heal soon!
as a dentist who became fascinated by machining, i hope you donig will after the procedure.
Best channel ever! 🤗 Karen & Kurtis know what they’re doing! 💪💪
love to watch your Vedios. you do such a great job.
Your diction has always clear to me, but then I'm an Aussie. That first steak is going to be so sweet.
Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Good to hear that your oral surgery went well.
Fwiw Kurtis, Does your parts washer use a caustic soda solution. It should dissilve virtually every coating including powder coating. Rebuild looks great!
First
Damn it...!!
....almost had it....
NICE! 👏👏👏
The only reason I am first I have a day off from work 🤣🇬🇧
I love your work .
Awesome content. Love watching you reassemble the planetary and how easy they moved. I could sense you wish you had done the motor rebuild yourself. $4k seems steep. When you are done with this be curious to know the economics. It appears you are fixing way more than you planned. Certainly worth it for the channel.
As a chef, I'm used to real hardworking individuals but Curtis really takes the cake...
What a great job on the winch!
I’m hoping the repairs on hydraulic motor were about half the cost of a new one.
Seems only fair 🤠
What a mammoth job this Franna Crane has become... but in all honesty, I Know a lot goes on behind the scenes and also operational and financial planning can be tense... but still I think I have chosen the wrong line of work.... a bit jealous really. Kind regards for the Netherlands mate! Ruud
Sorriso novo ? Kkkkk , Belo trabalho realizado ! ( Itu , São Paulo , Brasil )
Congratulations for your decision to go forward with your orthodontic surgery. You will realize an up-tick in your general health as well your self confidence as a result. Good on yer both going forward and giving us truly top-notch programming😉
I'm not a machinist However I throughly enjoy every episode.
Much appreciated
Very nice job !!!!
I love that overbite...
Shades of Freddie Mercury.
Great job and allways entertaining
nice work as always brother and also karen the camera work was splendid
I'm happy you have new teeth they look great! I've been needing the same surgery for years
I used to do water blasting back when I work in restoration shops. Way better than silica. I loved blasting old cars. 😂
00:30. OUCH! That took some "cojones"(balls) to do! But hey if it is for your overall health then I'm glad that you took care of it. You will be sore for sometime but little by little you will become accustomed to your new procedure. God bless you, Karen, and Homeless(right?) all the way from Texas!
First class engineering
Congratulations on the new pearly whites 😃
Nice new chompers!
Congratulations on the winch and teeth. Hope merch can help the pain of your new crane rebuild. Be well Kurtis and #CEE
Oh, and nice "Cutting edges" I may add!!
Can not wait for your next video
Beautiful job as usual Kurt. Hope your feeling better with your new choppers. 😂😂
I had all my teeth including wisdom teeth until I was sixty. Taking care of them cost me thousands and still were always giving me problems. About a year and a half ago I started the process of getting implants both upper and lower. It took about a full year for the whole process and glad it’s done and all the problems with it. And yeah I talk a little different too but no pain and eat what I want. 70 now just hope I live long enough to enjoy my moneys worth.
