I recently acquired a 49 YT that I have begun disassembling for restoration. It is an even rarer car in that it has a TD style dash, and not a TC style with the speedo over in front of the passenger. The car also has a heater from the factory . The story I have is that the car is one of four that were ordered by a dealer in Toronto for the Canadian market and he specified the different dash board.
I like the idea of front brake lights. Lets oncoming traffic know if you're stopping at an intersection. :D She's a beaut. I bet they're pricey buggers nowadays though.
The YT's WERE NOT MADE FOR THE US MARKET they were made for distribution to the Commonwealth - which is NOT the US of A John! They were manufactured between 1948 and 1950. Very few were sold in the home market and a number certainly made it to the US. However, the majority were exported to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, New Zeland etc ( Countries in the Commonwelath then known as the British Empire). Of those that made their way to the US a number were fitted with external directional flashers with a double filament bulb into the side lights with the lamps set into separate housing on the rear wings as on a TD. Finally ALL YA's were fitted with single carurettors as were most YB's, the YT's were the only models fitted with dual carburettors. Otherwise a reasonably informative film. My YT was imported from New Hampshire in 2009. A 1950 model that was fitted with chrome embellishers along either side of the bonnet (hood) and doors fitted by INSKIP in New York. Does anyone have any history of the cars that INSKIP imported into the US please? Jerry Birkbeck England.

I own a 50 yt right hand drive. Love it. I never knew about the turn signals. I do not believe I have them on mine. Great idea though.
