The experience I had in the 90s was the inverse of this.... On 2 separate occasions monks simply started talking and asked for donations... Once I made the donations they gave me books from their bags... This was a surprise for me and stuck in my mind... Then after seeing none for two decades I saw some in Sheffield and ran up to them with a donation and they invited me to the first Sheffield rathayatra. I went with my family and joined in from the sides.... Now the mantra just runs in my head most of the time.... I think if I'd been flattered or actually walked to a cash machine as depicted in this video I would have had an entirely different opinion/outcome.
Good observation. I might had that free pamphlet should always be given to those who wants a book but cannot pay, in this way, the people feels that there are honestly being introduced to Krishna with or without money. Krishna is free, there is no monetary charge to become closer to Krishna. The price to pay to become a lover of Krishna is not monetary.

I think you guys have it all wrong!!! This whole method of distributing books isn't the most effective, it appears your more worried about the number (quantity) of people than quality! Like anything else the power of numbers WORKS!!!! Maybe if you guys joined together (POWER OF NUMBERS) in ONE SPOT and performed kirtan sitting down , and a few around the kirtan distributing books you would get a higher quality!!!! If your looking for numbers, then just give out the Gita for FREE!!.

very informative and encouraging :) I have done some distribution myself and some of the tactics used is very nice and can improve ones approach. The bliss of distributing books is nowhere near any mundane sales efforts.

This is called book distribution. This is not called "sankirtan". Rather, sankirtan is when you gather with other devotees (sanga) and perform congregational chanting (kirtan) of the Holy Names. Doing harinam sankirtan on the streets with book distribution alongside can be called sankirtan. Doing book distribution simply on its own, is simply... book distribution, not sankirtan.

I have only a little experience with book distribution, but I wonder why not approach people saying something like, "Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and this book proves it!"?

I dont like how much Hare Krishnas focus on Prabhupada and focus on getting money....
Doesn't feel like Hinduism to me, and i REALLY hate the fake selling techniques it feels so cheap.
why not just find people who are interested and then ask them if they want to buy/set up a shop etc.
these pushy methods are what conmen use to sell braclets and so on.

Devamrta S. is one of the most prominent guru of ISKCON who has a dysfunctional mind and according to Bhaktivinoda T.'s explanations in Sri-Caitanya-siksamrta, I found him to be a very hypocrite and a pretender......I'm sorry that you have accepted him as your guru...you're in big trouble prabhu....But I hope the best for you, and if you keep a tight connection with Srila Prabhupada you might realize in time what you got into and look for other better alternatives. You still young and you are able to correct your mistakes.....Hare Krsna.
You probably have to get your facts checked before making such blatant assumptions. For starters, I am not HH Devamrita Swami's disciple. The rest, of course, is your personal opinion. Hence I am unable to comment on that.
@@sridama well, prabhu, it could be also that it's you not well informed and so you rely in your personal assumption that he is a great devotee. I don't doubt that he has some genuine interest in practicing KC, but I doubt that he is on the level that he is trying to represent, I know quite few fact that tells me he is not an advance Vaishnava, but you are also entitled to your opinion. I think the best way to make someone take a book is to have a big smile on the face and say Hello,here i have something for you and put the book immediately in there hands,then there concentration will be on the book and u can start to talk about the book,and best is to say something from your real spiritual experience so that they get convinced that this is good for them. :) Jai Srila Prabhupada Jai Sankirtana
