Lister was there to promote the movie and get the fans accustomed to him. It isn't his fault if McMahon threw money at him; he had a lot invested in the movie.
Do you not know who Zeus is?? He’s a legend actor in Hollywood. Super talented and guess what, he was not a great worker, wrestler at all but he did his thing and will forever be a WWF legend in my eyes!!
He put butts in seats and starred in a wrestling classic. I’m 45 and was 9 when Zeus debuted. If you’re much younger than 45 it may be hard to understand Zeus’ impact.
Dude, I am 29 and was not even alive yet but I understand his impact in the short amount of time he was in the business. I've watched enough wrestling in my life to know the difference by now trust me. You just know certain guys that had it and guys who did not when you see them. No, zeus didn't ✅ all the boxes, but even I know as young as I maybe that he was a attraction or as you stated he definitely put asses in seats. And I really do not understand this whole misconception that some older folks carry within themselves that just because we were not alive for it we cannot appreciate it and that we do not know anything about it at all just because we are too young. I've literally had conversations even heated debates with older folks who completely forgot about half their wrestling knowledge and did not know what they were talking about at all despite being long time fans of the product itself way before I was even alive myself. And this goes by as far as the 80s era of wrestling. Just because some of us weren't born yet does not mean all of us do not care at all, so your statement is irrelevant. Yeah I know that might come as a shock too you that someone as young as me knows or cares about zeus at all but regardless of what you may think, the fact is I am fully aware.
@ hey kiddo. Clearly you don’t get the point. Read the comments and see the heat that Zeus got from the people. Also, just for shit some giggles I grew up in Los Angeles. Shortly after WWF a huge movie came out that he starred in.

DeAngelo knows nothing about wrestling so don't expect him to comment anything worthwhile but DiBiase should know better. Zeus was a human wrecking machine and his character didn't need to have any wrestling ability or skill. He no sold and squashed opponents and did his job well and put bums in seats.
Tommy "Tiny" Lister, Jr was a college shot put thrower who was blind in one eye and made his living as an actor, not a wrestler. Put it on McMahon for building a PPV run around a Hollywood character actor.
It's a crime zeus wasn't in wwe 2k24 they literally still have the licensed to him. I love zeus, yeah he wasn't a great worker but he made a decent impact in his short amount of time he was there.
It wasnt one thousand dollars. it was ten thousand dollars per appearance . I know . I used to Manage Tommy Lister Jr . He got one hundred thousand dollars for summerslam and even more for Survivor Series
How TF you don’t know his name is Tommy Lister. Put some respect on his name. Didn’t know much about wrestling but he was tabbed to do the job and he did it well. R.i.p Tiny, Zeus, Deebo
DiBiase and Zeus on the Arsenio Hall Show was a classic comedy. DiBiase is a talented wrestler and promo worker. It helped that Hall was a huge wrestling fan so they all worked seamlessly together.
Tommy Debo "Tiny" Lister Jr. was a Special attraction to help promote Hulk Hogan with the movie "No Holds Barred". (It was what it was. He never wanted to be a Wrestler.)
Zeus was more respected than Mr. T was...clearly he was given a top spot on Wrestlemania via his celebrity status...Apparently he would show up with a security team of like 12 guys backstage that would get in the way, make silly demands, bragged about his toughness, threatened to quit when things didn't go his way....this didn't go over very well with folks like Piper and Orndorff etc
First off I need this pod to have a little more respect on Tiny Lister name. Second, good he got that money bc every other Black wrestler got peanuts compared to the white wrestlers. I hope they did feel a way lol
DiBiase is saying "you know" like Vince Russo says "bro". Deebo's movies made more money than all of Hogan's combined. Granted a lot of those came after his WWF run

The thing about the wife being on the road with her wrestler husband, I remember Jake saying a few times he hated having Cheryl on the road with him. Great that he had some company, bad in the fact that she was friends with a lot of the guys wives or girlfriends who weren't on the road and when she saw their men playing up with other women on the road, Jake faced the inevitable "Is that what YOU do when I'm not around??" questions. And suddenly also, no one wants to hang with you like going to a bar lest your wife see's them fooling around.
Any "paranoia" Savage had in relation to Miss Elizabeth was definitely warranted. She will always be the hottest female to come out of the entire wrestling business in my opinion.
I remember the Survivor Series Showdown shown the week before the event. It made me laugh because nothing Hogan or Beefcake could do would hurt Zeus...... Until he got hit with what must have been a Million Dollar Clothesline from Ted lol. Suddenly the impervious to pain Zeus acted like he was hit by a Mack truck.
They might of thought he was overpaid but he was part of the angle for the movie too so in the end it was worth it for vince. Side not look at WM 14 tyson got like 1m and all he basically did was do a fast count (which btw austin didnt like)
$1,000 per appearance. It's not like he did every house show. He did big events and probably the the occasional Superstars if I remember correctly back in the day. Unless he also got paid from his segments re-airing okay. But that doesn't feel like a lot compared to what other celebrities would get even a few years later. That number sounds low actually.
I think Tiny Lister did the best he could being an actor. Let's face this fact. He was an actor, and he played a role. Let's look at the reversal. How many wrestlers tried to go into acting and failed. Tiny Lister filled a role, and he did a good job given he had no experience. I think wrestlers are being too harsh on him, given the fact they were trained professionals with decades of experience. I say cut the guy a break, and have some respect because he did pass away, and is not around to talk about his time as a wrestler to give his prospective. I would be interested if he ever talked about his time as Zeus. Dibiase was correct it was about money, and at that time, "No holds Barred", was in theaters, and it was all about promotion. RIP Tom "Tiny" Lister.
I thought people said he would lock her in his dressing room to keep other wrestlers out, not the actual closet, even though thats kind of the same thing, but its not like she was locked in some tiny confined spaced with in the dressing room, where she was left sitting on the floor with the clothes. Just the dressing room that randy and Liz occupied at the shows.
Nobody confirmed the rumor about Savage locking up Elizabeth in a room while he wrestled. So it's most likely just an ugly rumor someone who did not like Savage started.
@@PassivePortfolios or it was possibly an exaggerated rumor. He could've told her to stay in the dressing room one night or more, just because he understood how out of control some of the boys could be
This is Ted not respecting non-wrestlers and not be willing to admit that Zeus did draw. Was he a good wrestler? No. Was he a draw and have a presence? Absolutely.
Considering that Randy was out of his mind for whatever reason...he knows how probably even more out of control some of his coworkers were. I get the paranoia but why even sacrifice your sanity for money especially when you're witnessing all types of behavior all the time? Have we seen all those shows or news stories about co-workers just doing whatever with each other regardless of where their wives or husbands were? Mary J Blige is a perfect example of not bringing your spouse to work. Look her sad story up.
i've been rewatching '89 and lemmetellya: No Holds Barred RUINED the wwf. I could say so much more but i will simply say WCW was the better product at the time and almost all of the blame lies on that crap film
The more I watch I wonder if this guy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Locking Liz in a closet? Locker room, change room maybe but there's a big difference and connotation between that and a closet.
I like this conversation but I'm gonna say no. Zeus was ok with me. He really didn't work a whole lot different than big john studd and for the time he was in wrestling I think he did ok. With a big guy like that less is more. He should look like he wants to hurt you, destroy you, not do a hundred chain holds. I don't often quote Vince McMahon but a big guy needs to tell you what time it is not how the watch ⌚ is made.
She did eventually leave him n get with another wrestler so randy was right all along, most men would lose their sanity if they had a wife like her mixing with so many hunky lol wrestlers, look what happened with sunny n her bf, elizabeth made randy a bit more unique but i wonder what randy couldve been without her, maybe less than what he was but he wouldnt be known as being paranoid, imo.
All the creepy little snowflakes in the comment section running to Zeus's defense. Yes tiny is a legendary actor but it's not just him. The wrestlers got upset anytime a celebrity had a big payday. Always hate when POS loser marks want to sit there and try to talk down to someone who was actually in the wrestling business.
