I used to volunteer at a summer camp. We'd be outside all day, walking through the woods, playing all sorts of games. Some parents would complain about their kids getting bug bites. At an outdoor summer camp.

Ah yes, the tragic "i WANTED a doll, but accidentally got a kid" parenting technique. Really grows self-confident and happy kids

Oh man. My 5 year old INSISTS on wearing clothes backwards. Today, she went to school today wearing a dress, pants, and knee-high socks OVER the pants. Her teacher likely thinks we are absolutely nuts over here but the level of argument she kicks up over her clothing is absolutely not worth the constant fighting

This jogged a memory of a book my older sister read to me. The story may be fictional but what happens can happen in real life too.
It was a story about a girls boarding school, with one girl always getting pretty summer dresses sent by her mom. The other girls shared sweets and warmer clothes with her. But the girl wanted to wear what her mom sent her. In the book the child gets a cold which develops into pneumonia. If I remember the book right, the little girl didn't make it.
That's not what happened here luckily but point stands, kids gotta run and play not look like pretty dolls on a shelf.

I'm not sure. It was a German book that's for sure. The main character was an unruly girl that was a bit arrogant and learned to be a better person by being in that boarding school?
My older sister that read it to me back then might know. XD If I find out I'll tell you.

Ah! My sister says the book was called "Trotzkopf" in German. The English title should be "Taming a Tomboy"

Oml, this girl comes in class (I’m not a teacher) and she wears shorts. The shortest shorts, like do you work at hooters kind of shorts and an oversized tee shirt which makes it look like she’s wearing nothing under the shirt and it looks like she isn’t wearing shorts or pants. And it’s WINTER. Minus -11, and this girl has got to be kidding md

I still remember when i was 14 at a Best Buy. These parents had a 8-10 year old daughter who was wearing pink sweatpants with the word "juicy" on the rear. I was genuinely furious these people would blatantly sexualize their own child.

In elementary school, getting my brother to wear jeans in the winter, even with ice and snow on the ground, was a losing battle.

I dress my son not in picture perfect clothes but practical summer/spring t-shirt, pants, socks, shoes, thin sweater just in case and winter similar but long sleeve and a thick coat. I do like his clothes to be color coordinated and complementary and dirt washes out

ALSO- dont judge some parents(not saying you are).
My mom always had my brother and I dressed up in kid appropriate clothes and had our hair brushed and done nice. However, I was a little shit who wanted to wear miss matched clothes and if she did my hair, I would undo it and scruff it up and I honestly don’t have a reason as to why I did that. Now I barely have any decent looking pics 😂😂

Honestly tho, I remember when I was a kid I got ready for school with cute hairstyle that I don't remember what it looks like now but I do remember how I came back home with my hair in a mess and the ties all tangled up. It was a painful one cause my mom need to rip a few of my hair to get it untangled. I think that was the last time she tried to make complicated hairstyles 😂

I dressed myself as a kid, the moment i could put on my own clothes i did, my parents let me. I live in Australia so we have uniforms so could only wear what we wanted in free dress day. Which was good, and we didn't realy care cause we played in dirt constantly

On a more "sane" level... Coats/jackets. Constantly covered in paint and glitter! Why is the classroom too cold for a long sleved shirt rated for winter! Most families get a heavy hoodie and a heavy winter coat! Washing every night is ridiculous!

Kid (8-9) goes to school mid winter ( not snow level but like 4 degrees C) Tshirt, Rugby shorts thats it. I still wear eff all, thou the no shoes thing doesnt happen now cos I lost my natural thick soles (calluses)

this is kinda one of those questions more built around where you live because different parts of the world find different clothes appropriate what one place sees as totally unacceptable another might see as necessary because of local climate or even things being normal for the aria sense different places have different standards i mean a good way of looking at it is how different places look at drinking in the us if your caught under 21 with a drink you are in super deep trouble in most cases meanwhile there places where they are likely to just take it away from you and poor it out before sending you home or it being totally normal to be 16 and go to a bar or even for kids under the age of 10 to be given small drinks and no one in the aria would look twice.

The first part isn’t true at all. Teachers are inherently biased towards kids that look cared for. It’s sad but I’m putting some of you parents on game. Having a morning routine of self care with your child matters a lot. Don’t have more kids than you can take care of because it’s not everyone else’s job to raise and fund your family 🤷‍♀️ Your child’s teacher is not a babysitter. They are professional educators, not nannies. If your child can’t manage their wardrobe and it’s distracting them from their studies wth are you doing? Kids aren’t pets, ffs. They are future adults and the tools you provide for them will shape what opportunities they have. You are responsible for more than just keeping your child alive. It is cruel to dump reality on your child’s lap the day they turned 18.

JESUS CHRIST YTA BIG TIME!!! That mom is putting a lot of effort and ressources into her daughter’s appearance and you can’t even be bothered to keep an eye on he. The girl is probably being prepared to enter and compete in beauty pageants in the near future where middle aged men can judge her looks, and you aren’t even trying to facilitate this. Why do you even have this job if you’re just gonna be lazy and useless??? If you can’t do this simple thing for her mom then at least for it for Dan

Nightmare parent. I feel like the home situation needs to be investigated because she sounds like the type to force her daughter into child beauty pagents and those are so eff'd up.

I was told kids in preschool are supposed to dress themselves and if they wear mismatched shoes or something inside out you're not supposed to correct them.
