So much respect for doctors/medics that go out of their way to protect others lives and prevent tragic outcomes. Great CPR lesson, thanks for sharing that with us Steve!
We need epi pens all around the place, i need one, as i am allergic to antihistamine, but they are ridiculously expensive! We need a campaign to reduce the costs as well as a wider distribution in public places.
The funny thing is that the epinephrine is cheap. It’s only like 2 or 3 dollars a vial, the issue is that insurance companies patented the pens themselves so they get to name the price. Your paying 3 dollars for the medicine, and 497 dollars for the pen
It is only expensive in america... And it is not actually expensive but they sell it hunderets of times more expensive what they actually cost in america.
@@xXCursedWorgenXxYou’re thinking of Martin Shkreli - he up-charged a medication that is an anti-parasitic drug, which is used for a number of different immune-response disorders where first-line treatments fail. Practices like this are unfortunately very common worldwide, but especially so in the US, Denmark, and Russia.
Much respect to both of you! Also amazing that you took the opportunity to not only learn yourself, but to give Dr. Mike the opportunity to teach others about CPR
Anaphylactic shock is the worst feeling i’ve ever felt, it starts very minor but very shortly after it starts feeling like your heart just doesnt want to work, your throat literally closing up, tongue swollen, and it just feels like you want to burp a rock. This doctor is a true hero.
When i learned cpr in lifeguard training, we were told, "If you aren't breaking ribs doing this, you're not doing it right nor putting enough pressure" after the first few compressions, the breaking sounds become less loud than the first ones
As a first responder - most of the cool things we can do and implement to bring someone back to life, will do nothing if the person was down for too long without CPR. CPR is very important. And sometimes CPR by itself will save a life.
The reason men are more hesitant to give CPR to a woman is that they are afraid to be sued for saving her life, which is why they are afraid of touching her breasts, even to save her life. It's not fair to anyone, and I would argue that it's a legal issue more than a social issue, though it is definitely partially a social issue.
How about getting them in restaurants also. So many young people have died overseas because they didn't realise potential allergens where in drinks and foods and a language barrier prevented being able to alert staff (and they forgot their epipen).
The rest of the story is because of this incident and Dr. mikes youtube video there are epipens on about 70% of airplanes now. I thumbs downed your video because you cut it at " you'd think that would be the end of it"
Fact: flying from Canada to Portugal is roughly 6-7 hours. So there is no way that somewhere in the air it is 1,5 back to Canada and 1 hour to Portugal. That would make a flight from Canada to Portugal just 2,5 hours which is simply not the case.
Its not the fear of saving someone's life when it comes to a woman. Its the fact after saving her life shell get up not thank you and say I have boyfriend.
You’re a real doctor & the world needs you to keep going . I hope you know that . Thank you so much . My only recommendation is LifeVac . & whatever the cold stuff was that saved my life from stress a few weeks ago in the ER . I expect increases from grassvariants like thc-A . “ I never did this much acid in my life man . “ - Up In Smoke . When people don’t get high , they smoke double - so , like ALOT . Plus , they don’t comprehend it’sacid & when they realize they freak out like I did .

I love that he included asking someone specific this is so important. The bystander effect is real boys and girls

Love this channel.
Get on the intercom and ask if any other passengers have an epipen.
Thats what I thought. Like what are the chances that no one on a plane is carrying an epipen.
I’m sure they did.

Blessings to you Sir!!! ❤❤❤🎊🎉🙌🏾🙏🏽
That is the power of having a democratic representative who truly cares about the citizens.
Then make the effort to make laws that will save lives.
Chuck Schumer does not care one iota
wtf does saving a man on a flight have to do with democratic representatives
Chuck saw an opportunity to make money off of medicine and took it

I love that he brought up women having worse outcomes. It’s a big deal.
That was one smartly made first aid kit. You cant have everything on board, and yet rhey did have epinephrine good enough for 2 conditions
insane story
Wow that’s amazing
God bless!
There are no epi pens, as far as I am aware, on cruise lines either.
Why dont every flight have a doctor on board?
