A new model made from scratch by me, with the help of Yuinesko and Luiz, using movie official references for the next animation!

5 days working on modeling, 3 on retopology. It took, i guess, 4 weeks to conclude the project.

Seeing your work on modeling McQueen with "Dirt is Different" playing in the background reminds me of the Behind-the-Scenes documentaries for Cars!

The level doesn't actually exist in the game though.

Yes, I did it all by myself, except for a few characters. Yuinesko modeled Sheriff and made the texture for McQueen. He also modeled Ramone and Red for the next animation (you can see some images in the community tab of my channel)

damn. seeing this makes me so jealous. like, I can animate, I'm a 2d and 3d animator. but modeling? aw hell naw don't get me started on that. I couldn't even make a low poly man even if I wanted to! what I would give to be able to use this model in animations... will you ever put out the model for sale/free use?
I feel you. Actually, this Lightning McQueen is the only decent 3d character model I've made (and Yuinesko helped me on it). But you can improve by watching tutorials on how to model cars or humans.
I don't plan to sale or sharing the download of this specific model, BUT, there are big things I'm working on/going to work in the future related to Cars that i will make it available for download.
PLEASE do more McQueen stuff!! Gorgeous!

I thought about that! For now, I'm not doing it. I don't want to make remakes from my videos like Disney, I'm looking for making new and more ambitious animations.

Don't worry English is not my first language either.
You guessed right, I used bones AND shape keys. But i used one more element: drivers.
Basically, I made a shape key for each variant for mouth, eyes and eyelids (it took an absurd amount of time) and I used drivers to connect these shape keys to bones.
So, when I move a certain bone, a certain shape key would be activated (activated by the driver).
I'm sure you gonna find good tutorials if you search for "drivers" and "shape keys" on UA-cam.
I also show more details about the rig and how I made the expressions in my last video, "Motorama Girls Behind the Scenes". You should definitely take a look.

@frakker901 Not bothering at all. So, the "retopology" Is not essential.
Retopology is basically a process where you remake the model on top of itself. Retopology it's generally made when the model has bad topology, or has too many polygons, or it has triangle topology (triangle topology it's usually made for games, not animations short/movie. Squares topology it's better for when you need to edit it or add a modifier).
In the video, I made a retopology because the original topology was too dense and messy.
For texture, a friend of mine made for me. You can find some graphic designs you can use for texture if you search for it, like McQueen's lightning sticker.

Hello, if I could ask, what did you start with? Cube or face, and what modifiers did you use? I'm sorry about the questions, I'm just trying to practice modeling and wanted to start with Lightning Mcqueen, but since there don't seem to be that many tutorials on it, I asked these comprehension questions. 😅
No problem! I used a plane to start the modeling, with a mirror modifier.
I actually made this Mcqueen by watching car modeling tutorials on UA-cam and not specifically lightning McQueen

Yes, i added a flat plane mesh and used edit mode to edit the plane, creating more mesh and changing the scale
