This has me very hopeful for the future of the band. There's a lot of room for refinement, but this sounds a lot better than I expected given how recent Isaac's departure is (even if some of the material is adapted from Hyde's solo work). I think they're gonna be ok :)
Saw them in Bristol and got a photo with Lewis afterwards was just as good there so happy to finally have seen this band live and so glad there’s now a great recording of one of the gigs!!!!

This might all be stuff they were working on already. Because Isaac handled the vocals and lyrics, there's a tendency to think of him as the primary, or even only songwriter But from what I gather, the music was far more collaborative, and it's quite likely that they would work on it for a while before he finished matters up. So what they'd need to do was duplicate his work, write vocal melodies and lyrics to those unfinished tunes-in-progress.

I kinda thought "Turbines / Pig" may have been "Turbines" instead of "Pig", but having both titles makes sense! But I definitely never would have guessed the track fans dubbed "How Was Your Day" was called "Geese". That's an unusual title for sure!

It still sounds like the same band, it’s just that most people get accustomed to mainly the singers voice. Without the voice, people usually see it as completely different. If someone sang Isaacs exact lyrics like he did but with a different voice, people would still say it’s a different band.
I think we need to face head-on the hefallump in de room. This is not a shadow of what they were. The keyboard player is worth a punt but otherwise they are nowt without.
I understand the very difficult situation, but the compositions are underdeveloped. The pieces don't talk to each other. I admire the courage of the vocal attempts, but somewhere the character, the lead on the vocals got lost. Some sort of fuzziness has crept in. Not for me so far. Maybe more time is needed. Previous albums with Isaac carried a lot, I'll wait.
This isn’t an official album yet. These songs aren’t supposed to be connected or even necessarily but they certainly feel like the amalgamation of a super group effort. Like it’s honestly beautiful how well this group works together creatively because they let all their voices have a say. It’s present. Different people wrote different songs, sung different songs, and so the set feels disconnected but displays such a damn expanded palette of music talent! BCNR is no longer a “post-rock” band or a “punk band” but something so musically fluid. It’s honestly incredible that this band made such a freaking layered and set of this quality in the amount of time they did with one less core voice. These songs will obviously go through many changes and altercations in the future like their previous songs, and we’ll eventually get a polished album maybe two years from now, but this set is a showcase of undeniable talent
