    Exceptional review video mate. This boat isn't even the type I'm currently looking to purchase. Opened the video and couldn't turn it off as it was so logically thought out and produced, very impressed.

      The Stabi is a beauty that’s for sure. I personally own a boat very similar to a renegade with the same layout. Just comes down to what layout suits better. But in terms of how tough they are, I reckon the stabi would be the go. The self draining deck and high sides are a beautiful thing. Hope this helps. Where are you located?

    Beautiful boat and setup mate. Do you not use auxiliary, small kicker motors for slow trolling, to reduce the hours on your main motor and most importantly for backup in case the main motor goes down?

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  2 роки тому +2

      Hey mate. Personally I don’t and not many people in my area do. It’s a great idea but for our style of fishing they can get in the way.
      I do use an electric bow mount motor on my own boat for trolling and lure fishing and I love it.
      For the purpose of this boat, I don’t think a kicker motor would really work due to its size. But an electric trolling motor would be ideal.
      And I also agree with the idea of a spare motor as a backup, but for the size of this boat it’s hard to see working without major modifications. So it comes back to the bow mount electric for me. And if I had this boat myself, that’d be one of the first things I’d do 👌. Cheers.

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks mate. It’s probably more a semi draining deck as it only drains when under way. The deck is completely sealed so there is no false floor. This gives open access to the internal bungs where you can let water out easily. The scuppers allow you to run without bungs at all, and as you move along, the water drains out. I probably should’ve looked into in on their website more first. Cheers 👍

    Hi Sam. I’ve just put a deposit on a 1450 explorer. Do you think it’s worth having the pontoons foam filled? I’m concerned about noise at rest. Thanks

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  2 роки тому

      Gday, the boat I had is foam filled. It wasn’t too loud at rest at all. I have also been in older Stabicraft models that were not foam filled and didn’t notice a massive difference with sound compared to those that were foam filled.
      It probably makes a bit of difference and if you can do it, I’d go for it, but in saying that, without it wouldn’t be too bad I wouldn’t have thought.
      Congrats anyway on the deposit they’re a great boat.

      @@pandaoverboard No Way, defeats the whole purpose of having a self draining deck. Terrible design for a deck. You then need a battery and on and on it goes. If they just made a deck that really was self draining all would be good. He also talks about how well the boat handled with all that water sloshing about.... It was flat as a lake. I think the self draining test did more harm then good showing hell well that ( didn't work ). Sadly.

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  2 роки тому +2

      Sorry Bill, when I mentioned the boat handling well, I’m talking about stability with water sloshing about. Unstable boat would’ve tipped side to side etc. Faster water draining would be ideal but I guess for the simple design of the boat it’s practical. First time filming a review for me cheers for the feedback.
