the facial expression says it all "oh my what r we going to do, he's skating better than we though, we must of underestimated him" and then "let's clap we're on tv"
Let me comment one thing as a Japanese. Yuzuru Hanyu looked up to Plushenko for a looong time (if I remember correctly, since when Yuzuru was 7or8 years old)and his admiration is still contuining now. So..I was sad when the audience yelled Russia Russia after Hanyu's skating. For me it's disrespectful behavior.
only the Russians 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ you wouldn’t see any of the Japanese or Korean chanting “Japan, Japan!” or “Korea!” when Yuzuru or Yuna won. that’s what happens when you’re a corrupted country whose athletes are known to be involved in doping scandals.
he was so young, being able to handle all this. he just had the skate of his life, is going to be first place, and imagine hearing the crowd yelling your opponents/idols name and seeing him laugh. that would be pretty heartbreaking for 19 year old yuzu. yuzu’s always shown the upmost respect to everyone, and he was rewarded with the worst sportsmanship ever. just remember, he was only 19, practically still a child. he must’ve felt awful in a time where he should’ve been happier than anyone. i’m so disappointed in the adults who were more immature than a 19 year old.
I watched his interview about it on Japanese TV. He actually did not understand what they were shouting, was surprised but took it for granted as support for himself. Learnt only afterwards what it was.
Evgeni Plushenko is still the greatest figure skater of all time. This does not take away from his accomplishments in anyway. He handled this very well and always will be loved.
I remember Yuzu's fantastic short program in the team skate and Team Japan well deserved the win. Plush is watching him closely as a friend but also knowing Yuzuru was his top rival. In the end Plush still brought it home for Team Russia after the long program and won his second gold medal, and his sad withdrawal at the men's event helped give Yuzuru the men's gold medal. Actually everybody won
@@cherylhulting1301 I do not agree with the last part of what you wrote. Pulshenko's withdrawal at the single event did not help Yuzu win, as he would have beaten Pulshenko anyway. The contestants for the men's gold medal were really Yuzu and Patrick.
