Best review I have seen or read on the Versys 1000 SE. So-called "professional" bike reviewers get invited by the manufacturer for an all-expenses paid holiday in Lanzarote and get pre-programmed in a press debrief. And guess what the result is: they all regurgitate the exact same marketing mambo which offers zero insight. Very refreshing to see an independent bike reviewer who rides the vehicle on the roads that he is familiar with so his experience carries weight. I really hope you keep a good relation with the local dealer.
I have watched dozens of test videos about Versys and NO ONE but yours described the driving experience as you did (as a pilot / driver)!!!! Congratts! Kawasaki should hire you as a sales rep LOL

Hi great review,I've just traded in my H2SX for a new versys 1000S,loved the H2SX but my wrists getting a bit achey😄 after 200bhp,I think 120bhp is enough for normal roads😄had a test ride and it felt so comfortable,nice upright riding position😄looking forward to many long trips in comfort! Your enthusiasm for bikes is brilliant!
I just baught one 2nd hand everything u said is on point. About the brake . Also the accelaration u feel it lift up as like it wants to wheelie . I love it to be honest . And the quick shifter like u said its so smooth 😎

I just bought this very bike!! I cannot WAIT to get on it and ride. Have to wait 1 week though for the dealer to sort it out! 😢. Brilliant review though, very funny. Thank you 😅
This bike is so freaking underrated, it doesn’t need more power but maybe if Kawasaki aded some more power people would consider it more comparing it with an s1000xr or a ducati multistrada
Optionals? Try fitting an electric screen and it may have everything for a tourer.
I had the 2015 version, ridden at about 65 mph on motorways it would do 240 miles to a tankful of petrol.In Spain riding from Seville up to Santander on the motorway I had to stop every one and a half hours to fuel up(120miles) which was a nuisance.The aftermarket high screen made very rapid progress very comfortable coupled with the handgards.. My two penny thought.Very fast very comfortable fantastic all rounder.The only thing wrong is the list price.Very few will buy, the must have can't afford people will rent for three years.That is the time to buy when a £16000 motorcycle becomes £7500
Great review as usual brother. Brilliant bike with a respectable price tag in Australia. As you stated, this is a bike for the road and not dirt, and I believe it will sell really well. Definitely an option for replacing my 2014 vstrom 1000. Thanks again mate.

Thanks for the review Cager but guess you forgot about Duc MTS you reviewed a few years ago when you mentioned BMW G/S as competition for SE Versys 1k. Which in US is more $ than I paid for new Pikes Peak 4 yrs ago, it'll yank your arms out from stop lights, wheelie from throtle, rock solid @135mph and not 100#s heavier like the Kwacker but YMMV.
So you liked it then, brilliant review, i had the v1 and totally regret selling it but this is my must have bike. again excellent review and love your roads.
People have been complaining about it's low power but you sound like it has enough. I would say that they can rework the engine to add cam shift tech for low and high end torque.
I feel that it's still a compromise between it's price and competition. Sure it's cheaper than its rivals but it isn't exactly better. The engine is still the corner they cut while the competition has all the tech from top to bottom which comes at a price point. I wouldn't know what the competition for sx is but the versys has to compete with the other adventure styles bikes. S1000XR, 1260 Multi, 1290 Super adventure, outperform engine wise.

That cornering light didn't look great from here, I guess it didn't show well on the GoPro at night. I can't see them going cheap on that one feature. That bike sounds great.
It's the best on the market but still kind of gimmicky currently.

Sounds from the kawa gear box during quick shifting often sounds horrible. Wonder how long before the gears are worn / chipped? I just love your reviews by the way!

I am having trouble justifying this bike over the new Tracer 900GT here in the states. I have not test ridden a versys yet though. Maybe a 2017 with a big price break. 2017 Same motor I think just less bells and whistles and lighter.
Have you test ridden a Tracer? The bike rides great, but the passenger pegs will catch your heel if you ride with the ball of your foot on the peg.
Cager my friend you need to try a ktm Duke 790 .I nearly got a versys 1000 but I found the finish on the 18 model to suffer badly .

Hi cager. Big fan of your videos, always so enthusiastic! So, I have a choice between an 8000 mile 2019 Versys 1000se or a 1000 mile Ducati 950s touring. Similar prices. What would you choose??
John Roberts if you can swing the Mutley that's the bike you'll want after test driving both if you can.I've got a Pikes Peak and tested Kwacker several times it's not in same league. Cager mentions high speed stability or lack of in his review also on another YT top speed test it's head shaking like flipper. My Ducks rock steady @135 mph even with Duc/Givi trunk on. YMMV
How would you rate the Triumph Tiger Sport against the Versys? Seems similar, even if with less electronic gadgetry.
Cager is a bad influence on me. I've bought two Honda Forza scooters on the strength of his reviews and now my dealer has a second hand Kawasaki Versys in stock. I come here to check out Cager reviews. The Versys I'm interested in is a 2016 model, in black with full luggage. Priced at £7500 which think is fair.

@@SteveWKk Hey there. Thanks for your polite comment. No I didn't buy it, in truth as a 'born again' biker the size of the motorcycle scared me. The test drive was there for me but after some thought declined my dealers offer. I noticed the new Honda Forza 750 full automatic scooter has just been released for 2020. Again I wait for Cager and his reviews. I hope you are having a great day!
Hi cager, the versis has SE edition, that are expensive that the “simple” edition. In israel, it’s 20,000 nis more expensive (5000$). What do you think about the SE edition ? Worth the money ?

Feck me, how complicated can you make a motorcycle?!! And I thought the long and short flashes of the FI light to indicate error codes on my 02 plate VFR VTEC was a step too far in electronic sophistication. They will be inventing fuel range indicators next, I kid you not. What, they already have fuel indicators??!! Feck me, I need to buy a bicycle.
