We were very excited to react to this BANGER of a song for the first time ever! I have a decent knowledge of Eminem’s Discography, but I have never heard this song before!
Like Carter said, I would have loved to be a young adult during this time in 2002 to be able to see the reaction of the world to this song.

00-06 was insane when Eminem and 50 took over hip hop. I've never seen anyone bigger than those two at that time. The three headed monster 50, Em, and Dre.

Square Dancing is old fashioned country dancing. Like barn dancing with the fiddle and usually a male singer/yoddler leading the dancing. “Swing your partner round and round”. It’s partner dancing. We used to learn it in P.E.
So Eminem is using the same kind of pitch/tone in his voice as you would hear while square dancing for real but doing it in a rap. It is very unique.
Bush is a rancher from Texas. He is the former governor of Texas and speaks with a Southern drawl. That is why Eminem chose to do this southern accent, southern dance rap.
He is criticizing bush going to war in the Middle East, he is calling into question all of the terror attacks happening in the U.S.- like maybe the anthrax getting mailed to government offices, the trains being hijacked were to make people fearful so they would back the administration sending troops over seas
People have backed this criticism more and more now that time has passed.
The gibberish talk is cool because the words sound middle eastern but he is saying it almost in that southern auctioneer voice but it is all made up.
Again we are sending troops to the Middle East after 9/11 on the pretext of terrorism but people allege it is for oil or to get revenge for Bush Sr.
So lots of terror references, conspiracy references, Middle East references, president bush references.
Plus in a square dance you have to dance with a partner I don’t know if that symbolizes anything in the song but it probably does.
These videos are great.
I remember when this came out when I was in middle school, and we had all these anthrax scares.
This song is weird because its like a jumbled mix of speaking against the government and then talking shit about canibus, but theres a correlation in there because Canibus made a subliminal Eminem diss track called "Draft Me" with all sorts of military references

Y’all miss the boat on when he raps the gibberish, he’s just showing off his wordplay skills and his “ twang” suits the song, it’s called square dance, duhh, and he calls out a lot more entertainers than the ones you mentioned, they just don’t want to get slaughtered

If you were wondering about IT WHY this track has the do-si-do's and the whole square dance theme plus his accent? Well, what state is Bush from? Texas. Also had a bit of a Texas drawl. Shady is just going all in.
After Canibus's album flopped (and please note, he was being hyped up as the next best thing....alas, he didn't just flop he flopped in the worst possible way
...in Em's diss, "Can-I-Bitch", he says :
"But his album came, and it was not good
I think it went lead or double copper-wood"
After he failed to blow up like people believed he would (should have been around 98-99; coincidentally, Eminem's 1ST mainstream album, the one that blew up like crazy and began his meteoric rise, TSS LP released February 99. So both were coming into the scene at the same time. Canibus went on to blame a lot of people and the industry for that album's poor reception.)
Anyhow, 9-11 happens and around '02 Canibus joins the US Army. This song releases and in 03 that Can-I-Bitch by Em is leaked (however, there are little jabs in tracks like Role Model:
"I'm cancerous, so when I diss you wouldn't wanna answer this
if you responded back with a battle rap you wrote for Canibus"
Anyhow, I think the mix of the Canibus punches and military stuff was maybe coincidence, Em had always been big on supporting the troops (as much as he hated Bush). But then again, this was his angriest years and he could be super petty...hell, beyond petty...he did NOT care...I mean, he came at Everlast hard and repeatedly mentioned his heart attack so many times as did D12 on Quitter (the second half, the bit with the Tupac "Hit'Em Up" flow)
He straight up said he wants to see the president dead in a song and they had to censor it in the explicit version

MGK was coo til his album Binge. That’s the album he was mumble rapping. I think that’s the album you’re talking about. Cuz he came back hard with the album Hotel Diablo. And I’m a STAN to the fullest. But I’m an honest RAP fan STAN. And Hotel Diablo in my opinion is MGKs best rap album. But Binge was straight trash. That’s why MGK fell so hard. If he waited til he had Hotel Diablo ready, I TRULY believe he would’ve held his ground enough, that he wouldn’t have switched genres. Which I really like his rock albums. I love all music. Favorite band of all time is Depeche Mode.

He goes at Bill and Hilary too, so I think he just likes Obama. Also I’m pretty sure since Obama is an important figure in the black community and he doesn’t want those kind of problems. He has a lot of love and respect for black people and states it in his music.

Em’s a Democrat and he goes after the Clinton’s but they were pretty obviously scandalous and coming after him first. He came after them for being hypocrites and attacking his free speech. Like how dare Hillary Clinton say crap about me when her husband is fooling around with interns in the Oval Office. I’m using words in music. The president is doing actions.
Which makes sense from Em’s standpoint, super annoying
