Boiling Lake and Valley of Desolation hike, Dominica, March 2024 |

The video shows a part of the trail from the Boiling Lake through the Valley of Desolation (hot spring area) and down to the Trois Piton river.
The trail (roundtrip from the parking near Titou Gorge):
Total altitude gain: 800-900 meters
Distance: 10 kilometers
Time required: 6 -7 hours
Difficulty: medium to hard - the descent (and ascent when you go back!) from Morne Nicholls (the highest point of the trail) to the Valley of Desolation is steep; also you need to use a rope a couple of times.
Overall, the trail is doable and well worth it.
Also, there is a cable car being built there (actually, the world's longest single cable car), which supposedly will bring you directly to the lake in a matter of minutes. Interesting, but kind of spoils the place (in my opinion).

I wish the track got a bit of improvement as to move a couple rocks off the track and some signs erected in treacherous zones yet keep it natural.

Insuperables vistas! Me impresionó mucho el Valley of Desolation, parece que es un lugar extraordinario. Pero por qué no hay vapor sobre el Boiling Lake?
