The narrator pronounces Nahuatl words so beautifully and with ease usually people butcher them but their not even that hard to pronounce. His Spanish is superb as well as his English of course. This is a great narrator.

I like how these ancient cultures were smart enough to develope all this art, architecture and knowledge of the stars ect., but they couldn't figure out that the eath goes around the sun and that it don't need our blood to do it. Don't get me wrong, I love Mexican culture, they are my favorite of ancient civilizations, but I just cant grasp their world view. So much violence and cruelty.
To be sacrificed was considered an honor for an individual. Giving their blood so that their people can live on. It is what they believed. They believed in a higher power. They also knew the Earth was round.
Austin Schaible I can see how it is hard to grasp their world view. But this was their religion. They truly believed that if they did not please the gods, bad things would inevitably happen. Try to look at it this way: a lot of their wars were for capturing people for sacrifice, they believed that human bodies were the property of the gods, the right of taking life was for the gods. It would be wasteful for a human to die in vain. There were sports where the WINNER of the game would be sacrificed. It was an honorable way to die, like seppuku was to the samurai.
They were appalled by the way westerners treated humans in war, only to kill they saw their way of war as a waste of human life.

The people who built these great cities did not degenerate into barbarism and cruel sacrifice. We can not paint the ancient peoples with just 1 broad stroke. It is the people who inherit the site after the beginning generations have passed, who do not know the importance and meaning of what they were even built for in the first place, that become the animals that western culture portrays the ancients to be. This is why the Aztecs willfully gave themselves to the Spanish when they came.
There is an older baseline in history, that most do not know of, where these master craftsman and teachers of the arts learned their skills from. However about 12,000 years ago, when the ice age ended so suddenly, it cause the rising of earths sea levels by up to 300 ft globally. This caused all advanced civilizations at the time to rebuild the cities they lost, and relearn the skills that were necessary to do so. Everything thing built around 12,000 years ago simply got re-purposed and re-used through the ages because there wasn't enough holders of the ancient knowledge left after the cataclysm of 12,000 years ago to carry on their skills.
