  • How to run 35s on stock suspension? Do they fit? Do they rub? In this video I show you how I've successfully run 35s with no lift on my 2 door Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon.

    By far the best video explaining and showing wheel and tire consideration for 2 door JL. Exactly what I needed

    Good stuff and on point. I lucked up and found a pandemic buy JLU that was lifted, but some stuff not right like stock control arms so I spent some time and a few dollars to re-do stuff like the control arms, wheels, drive shaft, front axle, etc.(as seen on my channel jeepNdirt). That said a learned quickly that the JL wrangler is truly the most capable wrangler built to date and it is possible to wheel on stock suspension as you mentioned, but I would also add that the advise I give folks is build to your needs, and consider all that you'll do and how likely and often you'll do the things that you think you'll do. (Say that 5 times, lol) Keeping a JL low meaning less than 3 actual inches of lift should always be followed with good flexy control arms. That said, I'm going to give a little plug here. Regardless of what anyone thinks about metalcloak, check out their videos about their joints, and drop brackets. They truly have the most mis-alignment and with their drop brackets (front and rear), rocksport 30 inch shocks, you really do get a long arm ride and flex. I'm not much on the gold, so I coated mine with black spray on liner material. The amount of articulation is incredible and for anyone only going 2.5 to 3 inches the amount of down travel they'd have would be pretty flexy. Great content as usual brother. Keep it coming.

    Great video. The footage is incredible. I much prefer watching near stock vehicles. So many other UA-cam channels is nothing but buggys and jeeps with hundreds of thousands of dollars thrown at them.
    I hope you channel blows up. I will be subscribing!

      Yeah that’s what I wanted to do. Show people you don’t need to do much with JLs to push the limits off-road.

    I'm on the fence 35 no lift vs 37 2.5 lift on my 2 door Rubicon. My problem is here in KY the trails are all rutted mud. Lots of people on 40's rutting out everything.

    • @SeekTheOpen
      @SeekTheOpen  Рік тому +1

      I don’t have to deal with that as much. Could always try 35/no lift and then go 37s when needed.

    Micky Thomas makes a 34, wish people would go into the fact that not so much the problem with tipping over becomes a problem, but a higher center of gravity also decreases the amount of traction you will have, back in the day 33 we’re plenty big, just saying, “I’m a old timer” anything bigger then 35 your asking for big trouble on a light 2dr jeep, I have a 2dr 2019 rubicon, I’ve had Willy’s and jeep wagons, scouts, cj5’s, dodges, Toyota’s etc. just be careful and spend the money if you go high, widen the axle’s, me anymore I’ll go low and slow and avoid the rubbin when I can

      Excellent so you have experience! Question for you Sir. When I get back from deployment I wanted to order a 2 door JL Rubicon 2 door, manual, with 4.88 gears. Since it’s a 2 door I feel 35’s would be tall enough. I’d prefer 37’s but with your advice I have my concerns. I have a TJ on 31’s and it’s my DD and I’d like to keep it as is and don’t want to mod it whatsoever. So what are your recommendations with my idea with ordering the JL Rubicon? Scratch the idea of 4.88’s and 35/37’s? I prefer pizza cutter style tires and would like to do trails but nothing absurd, just healthy fun. Thank you Sir,

      I just put “0pen country” not quite 35 on my stock 2019 2dr jeep manual and it’s fine 4:10 gears and it’s fine, still creeps, and still gets up moves on the road. Little tight on closing the tail gate bout in feels more snug. Haven’t tires to flex it out to the max, but been through some washouts and bouldery creek beds and up the banks, no rubs, even on a full turn, but I’m usually taking the easy route, learned in my old age.

      35x12.50 r17LT 121R I was a little concerned about pizza cutters because of stability but I think it would be fine, your only gaining 1 1/2 inches

    There is a Recon, like this, for sale where I live. I do like it. I want to wait to see the 2024 Jeeps, coming out in April 2024. Wait and see I guess.

    since the 315/70R17 tires are unnoticeably smaller than the 35 inch tires, is the fuel economy slightly better than running with 35 inch tires? Or is there no difference at all?

    • @SeekTheOpen
      @SeekTheOpen  Рік тому

      These tires in 35 are E load (versus C load 315) and weigh more so fuel economy would be worse and ride would be more stiff.

    What is the comparable wheel for the jk?

    • @SeekTheOpen
      @SeekTheOpen  Рік тому +1

      There is a JK version of this wheel made by AEV, but the JK fenders and suspension don't lend themselves to fitting 35s stock as well as the JL does.

      @@SeekTheOpen I like the wheels and I had the ko2 on my cherokee so I know how great that tire is in the snow. My jk has a 2.5 lift on 33s and stock rims. Love the look of yours.
