For those that do not know, 2pacs mom, Afeni put a 5yr freeze on this film and tried to stop it from coming out before she died. There was no mention of Makaveli, no explanation of Tupac's Thug Life code, no take on his activism nothing.... sad

Review is 100% on point. VERY, VERY disappointing movie. Pac deserved(s) so much better than this. The biggest offense of the movie though, that you didn't mention, was the ENDING. Let me explain.
The death scene was treated like the film makers were apathetic towards Pac's death. He gets shot, dies, and the movie ends. There is NO hospital footage, no news casts, no gathering of fans, or reaction from important people in his life or the hip hop world in general. And, that gospel music playing is epic fail. I felt no emotion during this scene, because his char (and all the characters in the movie period) were so underdeveloped that you didn't connect with them in anyway. I should have been in near tears during this scene, but instead I felt nothing. A damn shame, cause Pac's death was TRAGIC. Even his death scene in Notorious was better than this movies ending. Eazy's death scene in SOC was much better also - when it was announced he got AIDS you felt like something tragic happened, because you connected to his character and his story. It was a genuinely sad scene. Not the case with Pac's death scene in this movie.
When Pac' got shot in 96', it was like the Cuban Missile Crisis of hip hop. But this movie treats that unforgettable and dark moment as if it was just any other day. :-(

    • @Traviscasetalks
      @Traviscasetalks  7 років тому +11

FireIceTalon you said it perfectly. The characters were mere shells of the actual people. Yeah man, The death scene was disappointing as well. They didn't show the importance or significance of anything that happened.

Thank you for articulating all that I have been trying to tell people and more. This movie was such a disappointment to a true icon, legend and genius. I expected to walk out of the theatre devastated because of what we all knew would happen by the end; instead I was numb and dumfounded by the shallowness of the script and the under development of the characters, especially Tupac. The writers, director and editor made bad choices in creating this film. Obviously Tupac's story was too much, too complex for them to produce and they should have left this story alone for somebody else.

I agree. I wanted to see more details of what led him to become the Icon that we all know and love. They rushed it! As a fan I was so hyped and excited that I enjoyed myself for the fact that it's 2Pac, but it needs to either be re-did or left alone..

Wow! found your channel by complete accident. I loved your honest feedback, confidence, and polished commentary. As a Tupac "Superfan", and recently attending a showing of All Eyes On Me, I felt that it was a bit insulting to those of us who would view Pac's music as the soundtrack of our youth. It felt rushed and incomplete! I know it is a lot to fit into two hours, so maybe the producers and director of the film should have considered maybe the small screen, something along the lines of what BET did for New Edition. I was determined to get out and support the film. However, I think the interest may have been more about making money, instead of depicting a little more accurate account of this Icons life.

Andrea Lacey Thank you for the wonderful complement. You are speaking right now. It was a total rush job. There wasn't enough love put into this production. Many folks are saying that it should've been a mini series. I agree, just with different writers and directors.

Absolutely!! I have seen some bad biopics as of late, But to refer to this film as the "True", "Untold Story", Well damn!! you can Google Tupac and get the same info that you saw in 2 hours and 20 minutes of this movie. thanks for your response, now i'm going to enjoy my afternoon off, and binge watch your videos! Lol. Blessings

U got down with this man... I appreciated the fact that somebody finally wanted to make the movie , however I felt the same way that too much was left out and I wished they spent more time on it... honestly Tupac needed a miniseries like the new edition movie or the Jackson 5! 2 hrs was not enough to tell his story!

Thank you for making this video. It was need. People who are mindless are going to defend this bullshit with: "It's 2 hours, what did you expect." "All biopics doesn't have to be accurate." "Be grateful that we have black producers in Hollywood." "Y'all just haters". Mind you, the writers are not of color. They don't understand the hip hop culture. LT Hutton and the production forced the family on the contract so that the movie could go on without slander. This movie is made for money because Pac's name is on it. This movie disappointed me.
The Untold Story is: Pac & Yoyo relationship, the friendship of Pac & Stretch, Pac & Left Eye's friendship, a foundation called Joshua's Dream made by Pac, Pac's stressed out over being on Death Row, and way more.

Kimmie Diamond RIGHT! YES! You've should've been in the writing room. If this movie literally reacted Tupac Resurrection, it would've been great. Hell, if it took the time to be more than a Wikipedia page, it would've been great

MasonDiction Entertainment lol I should've. Hell, it would've been better. I didn't get that "Tupac: Resurrection " feel to it. It felt like a mockery. I had a bad feeling about this movie since last year. I wish I wasn't right.Me & My family are huge Pac fans. My father, Big Tray Deee, was friends with Pac. That's another untold story. P.S. The book Jada is referring to is "The Rose That Grew From Concrete".

100% agree with you bro. Also they did not show anything about his friendship with Stretch, nothing about mutula, childhood scenes seemed rushed, prison scenes nothing shown on books head was reading especially Machiavelli, naming and creating the outlawz. work ethic also nothing no gridlockd no gang related or deatnrow music videos. His beef and past with biggie in the film was cheesy and his relationship with snoop in the film was awful no hit em up scenes studio time etc the ending should have shown him in hospital with the real mtv news clips then the legacy he left. it was a 3 out of 10 movie rushed no effort.

I gotta be honest, you are 💯 correct. It was definitely rushed and it saddened me because the film makers pulled a "Dragon Ball" move. At this rate, I'd can't wait to see John Singleton's version.

I can blame the director but not Demetrius Shipp because he really tried and I give him props for doing his thing cuz I kno he was under a lot of pressure but like honestly no one could portray Pac other but Pac himself because he was just a one of a kind individual and was just to unique to be played by another person but still much blessing to Demetrius shipp and more for him to come.

great video. I told my husband after the movie that I was disappointed. the movie was all over the place and nothing flowed together as far as the events of his life and career. if It weren't for my knowledge of tupac prior to seeing the movie then I probably would've left confused. like you said it didn't go into depth about anything so it definitely wasn't a movie to showcase his legacy. I even told my husband that the presentation literally felt like they just watched a bunch of interviews on UA-cam and threw together some random scenes. there were multiple scenes that were word for word copies of interviews I've seen on here.

I ain't picking sides, but according to LT & Benny Boom the film was supposed to be at least 4 hours long, but the distribution company who help fund the movie told them to cut it to a two hour and 30 minute film. So they showed as much as they could in the film.

    My memo the LT Hutton:
You didn't go into 2pac's POET or ACTIVIST side-inexcusable. TOTALLY inexcusable. This was your chance to show this new generation who 2pac was and ALL EYEZ ON ME did not do that. I don't care how many of your celeb friends or 18 year olds tell you this movie was good=the real fans know it was inexcusable. First, should have been 3 hours. Look at the great black movies like Selma, the Color Purple, Malcolm X...2pac should have been given the same high standard! And have 2pac saying I AINT NO BLACK LEADER-get that out of here! The whole movie had 2pac looking like a naive follower. He was a passionate I'm going to change the world leader! No depiction of 2pacs poetry past, no influence of his crazy reading habits, no depiction of his relationship with Leila, no depiction of his activism speeches at the grassroots convention or the brotherhood united junction. No depiction of Versace calling him to be an anchor of fashion, no depiction of his code center or the convos with ppl about him starting the softball league and free concerts for kids in poverty. No depiction of how the Thug Life truce saved countless lives. NO depiction of the effect of his life after death, like statues over the world or his lyrics being taught in colleges. THIS MOVIE WAS A SHAME TO THE SOUL OF 2pac!!!!
