Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal ❤️ Love stories in art

Today's video is dedicated to one of the most exciting and tormented love stories in the history of art: the one between the artists Dante Gabriele Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal (also called Liz or Lizzie Siddal).
The love between Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal began in 1850. When the two met Elizabeth Siddal worked as a milliner in the making of tailored suits. However, her physical beauty is so particular that it strikes several artists of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood, not only Rossetti but also Sir John Everett Millais.
The girl becomes Rossetti's muse, his love and obsession with him and later also his wife. Unfortunately, the marriage will not last long. In fact, in 1861 Elizabeth suffered from a natural abortion. Less than a year after her, Rossetti returned to her home and found her dead on her bed.

Siii Ho letto della mostra sui Preraffaelliti a Forlì. Sono certa sarà stupenda! Molte delle opere qui in Inghilterra sono conservate al Birmingham Museum, dove ho lavorato per un periodo, e mentre lo rinnovano stanno mostrando la collezione in giro per l’Europa 😍
