Yes, I too am infatuated with Oud Cologne’s opening, yet I also feel that it seems that the materials that appear later on are also less true to the quality of the top, and are there there primarily to enhance the performance. And although it seems like it has the capacity to fill a room when you smell it up close, I don’t like particularly big projection, but found it barely travels from extended wrist to nose! Hadn’t really noticed the lavender/tabacco/geranium thing in the background of the opening, so thanks for pointing that out, because I am enjoying that now as well! Like most things, I would like to see more rose in the mid. 😉
After testing some Bortnikoff's options, I've ended up purchasing Oud Monarch and Musk Cologne. But, in the end, I concluded that Oud Cologne, Oud Maximus, Musk Khabib and Musk Cologne have lots of intersection points and they would end up "redundant" somehow. So I chose the ones that kinda covered almost everything from the collections I've tried. I still want Vesna and Moss though.
For me the dry down of oud cologone is like an animalic oud almost reminds me of triad its an sharp pungy smell but at the same time rounded and sweet, i guess the sharpness comes from the pine and roundness from tonka and the oud just complements both
Gentlemen, I very much enjoyed your review of one of my very favorite fragrance houses - Bortnikoff. My two favorites are Moss Cologne and Vetiver Nocturne Absolu. But they are all good, for certain; Tabac Doré is a powerhouse worth every bit.
I can't recall you guys mentioning Frassai? I have their Taissendu, Blondine and Tian Di. Luca Turin reviewed three of their small number of perfumes, and gave each of them four stars; perhaps they are worth a sniff.
Hi chaps I got me a bottle of Oud Cologne and it for me is my favorite from the cologne collection for sure, delighted with your review on Tabac Dore,I haven’t a sample and was close to blind buying a bottle but, your review has brought me back down to earth. I love tobacco fragrances I’ve got 3 from slumber house and I reckon they will fill the void for now much appreciated lads peace out ✌️ smell y’all later 👃
I really liked Oud Cologne but for some reason it didn’t last on my skin. It was a bit fleeting. Now Tabac Doré is stellar. The opening is a stunner. In the dry down I start to get hints of Sans Fleur. Dry dusty woods. It has jetted into my top tobacco centric fragrances.
OC lasted well on me but, as we mention, the drydown was about benzoin and tonka, which was not necessarily what I expected from the title. I’ve worn it more since we recorded this, and I continue to get pretty good performance.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I think I’ll give OC more wearings. I went ahead and bought TD. On my skin it has that incredible openings and then the tobacco just lingers. So lovely.
Brilliant video as usual. Will definitely purchase 9ml of each. And may we have a moment of silence for the dear departed Guerlain fragrances in the US?
I really dig Oud Cologne. Very happy to own a bottle. I’m pleased to see you both enjoy and review it! I need to get my nose on more Bortnikoff! I also need more money 😂. If you don’t mind me askin what is it that you both do for a living?! Such dapper gentleman and I’ve always been curious both yours professions.
That’s awesome. I’ve been playing the electric guitar since I was 13(33 now) lol. Wish it was my profession(it was at a time)but I do alright with what I do. It’s crazy how many musicians you meet in this hobby! Love you guys. Keep up the great work!
Great stuff chaps! I have to admit I was very disappointed with the 6th collection and ended up only keeping Sans Fleurs...probably need to sample these ones before buying but have just received Russian Musk 2 and until I got a sample of RM the OG loved it! Now i`m not too sure....hahahaha
We weren't head over heals with the 6th collection. I think both of these are better than the 6th collection. I have RM2. I'm not yet completely in love with it, but will give it more time
Oud Maximus and Musk Khabib are probably my favourites. I also own Amber and Moss Cologne, the first is a summer staple for me, the second one incredibly nostalgic, but with some Bortnikoff magic in the opening. I also own Sir Winston
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Thank you for your quick reply. Sir Winston is on my wishlist with Symphonie de Neroli and Triad. The more I explore this brand the more bottles I want. Its addiction. :)
Hello guys ... I really enjoyed your review. Sounds Great . Anyway , few days ago I tried Baque from Slumberhouse and i was just shocked , how could it be possible. I was very very sad that Baque is not in production right now. Absulately breathtaking tobacco based fragrance. Ok , now I am asking your help . Have you found anything similer . I was about to purchase tabac dore or sayat nova . I heard sayat nova is close to Baque . Is it really ? Or which one ? Please help me guys 🥺
I've got musk khabib attar, and I find the sweet notes a little over the top for me, also not musky enough. I don't know if the extrait is much different, but I suppose that you two haven't tried the attar. Have you?
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I tend to love white florals actually. I think that it may be the tonka in that setting which doesn't gel with me. But l'heure exquisite is in my top ten of non attar fragrances. The tabac dore sounds like it will right be up my street though.
What is the reasoning behind Bortnikoff using the word “cologne” in the names of so many releases? When they’re clearly not cologne in terms of the strength….and price
How does Oud Cologne compare to Amber Cologne as a perfume that can be appreciated by your young/dumb girlfriend in the summer? edit: “Eau Sauvage for the modern man done with … incredible ingredients” … yeah, she’s going to love it.

Wow sounds magnificent Dan and Jo 😍😍😍

Great positive review! I really love the Oud Cologne! Haven’t smelled Tabac Doré yet, but I will also love it… I’m sure of that!! 💕👍🥰
TD is definitely worth sampling for the opening alone; quite jaw dropping!
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I always bought all my Bortnikoff’s blind! And I really love them all… never have been disappointed! I’m a huge DB fan …
Bortnikoff is fantastic IMO. Both of these relatively new offerings are amazing. Oud Sinharaja is worth a review.

Great review

The greatest bortnikoff
Over 300 materials in tabac dore? Daaaamn. Wonder how many could be removed without anyone noticing
I love the word benzoiny. 😄 Has a certain ring to it. But wow does that Tabac Dore opening sound good.
The grapfruit is so tart and zesty. I do think there is a lavender.
A niche version of M-7 Fresh?

Hello
I have roasted coffee by prin and i want to get tabac dore do you think prin is similar ?
Thank you for this review. So these are beautiful but not full bottle worthy? Which Bortnikoff bottles do you own? Keep safe.

How different are Tabac Doré vs. Oud Monarch? Do you feel they have similarities?
Thank you ✌️🇪🇨
were would u recomend starting with the bortnikoff range?
I actually enjoy the drydown alot more than the opening😅
Hey guys. Great video. You going to do a Russian Musk 2 review (I think that's the one of the classics you ordered?)? Either way have a good day :)
I think we will also do comparison of OE 1, 2 and 3
@@WaftsfromTheLoft amazing, thanks. Loving them myself

Tabac Doré smells like a cross between chocolate and feces (or a mixture of both?). Yeah, choco feces. I'm glad I tested first.
You don't have a discerning sense of smell.
لا أشم التبغ..
عود مع البرتقال... رائع

They are lighter than his regulars and price has to do more so with the materials…
How does Oud Cologne compare to Amber Cologne as a perfume that can be appreciated by your young/dumb girlfriend in the summer?
edit: “Eau Sauvage for the modern man done with … incredible ingredients” … yeah, she’s going to love it.
As we hinted at, I think Oud Cologne is the more obviously mass appealing of the two.
Would love to see you guys make out. Just sayin
Thag would take a very special fragrance!
