For those who might actually be wondering, the "pringle" on the back of the Albany Franken Stange is its convertible roof (though on the Stange it doesn't actually function). Early cars had a low enough top speed that they didn't need to adapt a fair number of their features for the higher speed at that point, and one of those was the horse-and-buggy-style drop top, which just folds down into that cover behind the back seat rather than having a dedicated compartment.
