My friends had a "wedding celebration" - they got married at the courthouse a few days prior and then later had a party. They had a symbolic walk down the aisle, we all cheered, there was food and a place to take pictures. It was fun.
I’m pretty sure usually you don’t actually get married when you say your vows and stuff, you have to sign a piece of paper afterwards and that’s what says you’re married. People prefer to do it right after the ceremony on their wedding day but it’s not that different to go to the courthouse a few days prior and do it then.

I want to have a big wedding in the future when I get married but I don’t feel like I know enough people to invite. I want to marry a Japanese guy so I want one wedding in Japan and one wedding in Scotland (where I’m from). This is so our elderly family members don’t have to fly across the world and we can also have both cultures in the weddings. I want the Scottish wedding to be really big but I don’t feel like I’ll have a lot of people to come. I’ve grown up in New Zealand so I don’t really have any friends in Britain and I don’t know any of my extended family. My friends in New Zealand will probably not be my friends anymore when I get married and I’ve already lost a lot of my friends so I won’t be surprised if I lose the others before I get married or if we’re just not close enough anymore so it would be weird to invite them. I plan to be living in Japan for quite some time at the pint of my wedding so most of my friends will live in Japan and will want to go to the Japanese wedding. I need lots of guests for my wedding because I want to have a nice wedding in a castle and you need lots of guests to fill it out since castles are really big but I can only think of like 15 people who I’ll be able to invite.

So we eloped in a cute little gothic chapel and put it on FB Live for our families 😂
The thought of planning a wedding stressed me so bad. My hubs and I ended up having a low key, back yard bbq style wedding. My husband's best friend got ordained to preside over the wedding, we decorated the yard with arbors, and lights. We had rented 2 massive grills, and just cooked burgers, and hotdogs. Our moms and aunts made all the side dishes. My mom made my wedding cake. I had a very simple white dress, and my husband (who is also named Dan btw) wore a nice shirt, khakis, and tie. Our daughter played the wedding march on her violin. We only invited close friends and family, so about 75 people. We ordered a few kegs of beer from a local brewery, and our guests were our photographers. My neighbor made a playlist for the occasion and set up his outdoor speakers. I made my own bouquet, and flower arrangements for the tables. I met with the florist at Wegmans, and got a great deal on my flowers.
My husband and I did also had a small ceremony in front of his mom’s house in 2020 and two little girls on their bikes rode by during vows! 😂 We definitely want a vow renewal one day.
This was so cute and funny! When you mentioned how you didn't want to spend a lot of money on flowers at your real wedding, it reminded me of what I did for my flowers - we bought bouquets of different flowers (carnations, baby's breath, ferns, some roses, and some assorted flowers, etc) from Costco and the grocery store. My maid of honor and I arranged them and they turned out really pretty! We did it for the bouquets and also the table flowers. It was also much cheaper than doing it through a florist. You can also pre-order flowers from Costco online.
I had a small wedding ceremony with just me, my husband, our parents and siblings followed by photos and a family dinner, and then an cocktail-style reception the next day which was just at a restaurant with a buffet and canapes and a tiny cake. Highly recommend this style to reduce your anxiety. It means there's way less to manage on any given day and you don't have to manage clothing changes and that whole mess.
as a person in their early 20’s who pulled of a quarantine elopement but plans to have a real wedding in the future but is also dreading many of the specific events within a wedding and might not actually want one, kayla is very relatable in this video
We had a super cheap, super small wedding when my wife and I got married. We originally wanted it to just be the two of us, and our friend was over from the US so they would witness it, but the room for tiny weddings was booked, so we had to make it a bit bigger. Then we told my parents, and then it was suddenly 20-odd people. Still small, and the budget was tiny, but... it was a very, very happy day. Mostly we were just glad it was legal in the UK at that point, as it was 2015. Like, we'd still love to do something out under the sky, with me barefoot on grass, in some old ruins, or some handfasting with a reception in a barn or whatever - but we're happy to wait. Been married six years now!
When you do have a wedding in England, check out Lincolnshire, we have a gorgeous cathedral with the castle basically across the road, infact our cathedral used to be the tallest building in England 😊 you would probably really like Lincoln
Ooooh dude, my girlfriend lives in Netherlands, me in Australia, and with the travel bans and visas and requirements I TOTALLY get it. It's a nightmare. Even just working out what she needed to fly over here to visit for 3 months was a pain, but we got there! She's en route right this moment, binging Sims content because I'm too nervous to sleep 😅
I got married two months ago. Since we had a legal wedding about a month before our “ceremony” was like 15 minutes or more like 10. I had the things that were important to me and just ignored all the usual wedding fluff but that also helps keep costs down. So if anyone wants a wedding party i 100% recommend throwing it without thinking of it as a wedding much, just a party with your family and friends. If u do like me and get legally married first , if anything goes wrong then meh, its not your actual wedding day, just a celebratory party. I still had stress but not as much as i would have with a full blown wedding.
i did a fairly quickly planned, affordable wedding just over 19 years ago (we were getting married and moving me 3000 miles up to where my husband lived in Alaska... we had met online, got engaged 2 months later, married 6 months to the day after we met sort of thing...) anyway... I made my dress and did silk flowers that my mom and I put together (was a January wedding... so getting good flowers wasn't really anywhere near affordable..) so you can do simple, and have things exactly the way you want if you are willing to do a lot of it yourself (or have friends/family who can do some of the things...)
You could always have a vow renewal and do a more significant affair for that. Vow renewals are often conducted at intervals of 2, 5, 10, 25, or 50 years, but couples can have one anytime they want, or not at all. Some couples decide to renew their vows after having children, after a difficult period in the relationship, or after an important milestone. Maybe have a reception for everyone for now at 2 years, then perhaps have a renewal at the 5 or 10-year mark. :) you'll be older too, so maybe it won't be as stressful of a thought as it is now.
Hey Kayla, I know I purposefully made my wedding as stress free as possible, and I did a morning wedding with no bridesmaids or groomsmen. It meant no dancing was expected, food was enjoyable and easy for everyone to like (like good for vegan, vegetarian, keto, gluten-free, etc options), and it made the event end after a reasonable amount of time. Just wanted to offer up some ideas to help make your one day in-person wedding fun and less stressful!
Girl, my friends had an all white wedding - it was gorgeous! Especially great since a handful of our friend only ever wear black 🤭 I made sure to get photos with them since I'll probably never see them in white again
i got married in october and you're absolutely right bestie it's NERVE WRACKING i literally ran down the aisle because i was so nervous lmao i never realized how scary weddings are until i actually had one myself
My wedding was similar to yours, Kayla. A fast elopement because of immigration and travel needs (husband only visited for 10 days at a time). Pouring rain in a park, 7 people total including us and the officiant. I got flowers from the grocery store. Then we went to my grandparents house for KFC and cheesecake. I don't really want a big wedding, but I love wedding dresses and wish I got to dress up more. We wore regular clothes. I got my nails done though lol, I always feel very pretty when my nails are nice. It was a bad hair day, but a great makeup day!
I relate to your wedding situation. Me and my husband got married via some video conference with our local courthouse and then got a red velvet ice cream cake from Publix lol
When I married, part of our unspoken vows was to never make one another dance. My husband finished his vows and then started to say mine while I mouthed repeatedly "It's MY turn." The officiant laughed and so did our family and friends. Sometimes it is the imperfections that make it perfect.
my hubs and I threw the wedding planning out after the enormous stress it caused. renewed our vows with a "wedding" celebration, church, reception and limo on our 10th anniversary with our 3 babies in attendance. I hope Kayla and Dan take time with their planning and have exactly what they want.
My husband and I were legally married and then we had a wedding party like a year later where we just read our vows as our "ceremony". My grandfather ran late and while he was walking to his seat he fell right onto his head (he was okay) but that was the most sims thing to ever happen in my life
you can do a private first dance where it’s just you and dan. i think i want to do this when i get married because it’s like an intimate moment for the two of you alone and i just think it’s sweet.
Our wedding cake had four layers! Two with chocolate and peanut butter, one with raspberry and vanilla, and the last one was raspberry and chocolate!! We were obsessed.
We had a similar wedding experience, so I know how you feel. We were set to get married early June of 2020 and because of lockdown we were limited to 10 people. We dressed up as best we could, got married in the woods with our parents there, and BBQd burgers. Hopefully we’ll be able to have our dream wedding reception with all our loved ones this summer 🤞
Instead of have an actual bouquet, I carried a wreath down the isle... and had a cheap fake bouquet to do the bouquet throw... I think 4 more family members used the same fake bouquet for the throw!
I got married in Oct last year. I am was very much the same quick ceremony I hate talking infront of ppl and also not one for make up at all!. I think our ceremony went for 20-30mins tops including signing the book. When or if you do plan just take your time dont feel forced to do anything you dont want and find a celebrant that fits you guys!
My husband and I got married on our front porch by a friend who got ordained online. But we're doing the "party" next year on our 5th anniversary and this is just making me want to "plan" it in the Sims haha
My cousin got married in England at a beautiful old estate building (like an old lord/lady house that’s now a museum or something) like a mini downtown Abby. So cool
This was so cute!! I wonder if maybe you’d prefer the idea of a 5 year vow renewal party or 5 year anniversary type wedding event in London? That way you have some time to kind of do life together as a couple and then if you still want to have a bigger gathering in the UK then you can❤️ whatever floats your boats. I’m happy you got to have the tiny intimate elopement with Dan though!!
Kayla: *has a UA-cam channel of 1.5 million subscribers and regularly uploads videos getting hundreds of thousands of views* Also Kayla: I have to dance in front of people??? I'm not comfortable with this level of attention!
Courthouse weddings are awesome. I got married in a courthouse and had my stepdaughters sign the marriage certificate as witnesses. Then we ordered takeout and just hung out. I have too much going on to plan a real wedding and then be frustrated when things don't work out exactly as planned. Weddings never work out exactly the way that you plan.
Before my aunt's and her husband's first dance, the groom joked about how bad he was at dancing and I think that made it feel less tense and formal for the both of them. His little joke made it feel a lot more personal, and it really did feel like him, because he was so nervous beforehand 😂
Nice ceremony Kayla. You've proven once again that weddings can be chaotic and not orderly as other GCs have said. I wonder if rehearsal events help with making the wedding run more smoothly?

Petition for Dan to add more funny edits into the video love when we see him add little things like that
I've heard recently it's becoming more common to have a last dance when everyone's left instead of a first dance. That's what I'd pick
Kayla's wedding planner: So what kind of wedding would you like?
Kayla: Have you ever played Sims4?
When you do have a wedding in England, check out Lincolnshire, we have a gorgeous cathedral with the castle basically across the road, infact our cathedral used to be the tallest building in England 😊 you would probably really like Lincoln
cathedral??? IN LONDISTAN????? true king charlie man
@@seamuswbiggerarmalite3379 the hell is Londistan?
@@Squids.Arts. good for ye! ye dont know it!
@@seamuswbiggerarmalite3379 uhh okay? O.o I never mentioned London tho, I mentioned Lincoln..
Yay Kayla I’m ready for your wedding!!
i did a fairly quickly planned, affordable wedding just over 19 years ago (we were getting married and moving me 3000 miles up to where my husband lived in Alaska... we had met online, got engaged 2 months later, married 6 months to the day after we met sort of thing...) anyway... I made my dress and did silk flowers that my mom and I put together (was a January wedding... so getting good flowers wasn't really anywhere near affordable..) so you can do simple, and have things exactly the way you want if you are willing to do a lot of it yourself (or have friends/family who can do some of the things...)
For your “real wedding” please get a real cow plant cake topper! That would be so cool lol
I love that sim-simsie planned her entire wedding while wearing her wedding dress
In a couple years when they get married, we are gonna look back at this video and compare
well, they are already married! so I guess we'll see when they decide to do (or not) a wedding event for it🤣
congrats on 1.5 mil btw thats pretty good ig
It was a bad hair day, but a great makeup day!
my mom had a super similar dress in '89 !!! love that the sims added that one, could be a lot of fun for a more vintage style wedding!
KAYAK!!!! so so excited for you and Dan’s wedding! Hope it all goes well
I relate to your wedding situation. Me and my husband got married via some video conference with our local courthouse and then got a red velvet ice cream cake from Publix lol
I hope you get your wedding some day. An English countryside wedding sounds like a dream, honestly.
When I married, part of our unspoken vows was to never make one another dance. My husband finished his vows and then started to say mine while I mouthed repeatedly "It's MY turn." The officiant laughed and so did our family and friends. Sometimes it is the imperfections that make it perfect.
Your videos always make me smile!!!
my hubs and I threw the wedding planning out after the enormous stress it caused. renewed our vows with a "wedding" celebration, church, reception and limo on our 10th anniversary with our 3 babies in attendance. I hope Kayla and Dan take time with their planning and have exactly what they want.
My husband and I were legally married and then we had a wedding party like a year later where we just read our vows as our "ceremony". My grandfather ran late and while he was walking to his seat he fell right onto his head (he was okay) but that was the most sims thing to ever happen in my life
I just had a successful wedding in the sims 4 with my wedding stories…..I still think I’m dreaming
you can do a private first dance where it’s just you and dan. i think i want to do this when i get married because it’s like an intimate moment for the two of you alone and i just think it’s sweet.
simsie we are so happy for you and dan 🥰
Our wedding cake had four layers! Two with chocolate and peanut butter, one with raspberry and vanilla, and the last one was raspberry and chocolate!! We were obsessed.
We had a similar wedding experience, so I know how you feel. We were set to get married early June of 2020 and because of lockdown we were limited to 10 people. We dressed up as best we could, got married in the woods with our parents there, and BBQd burgers. Hopefully we’ll be able to have our dream wedding reception with all our loved ones this summer 🤞
I never want a wedding irl, but love my sims having them.
I did the flowers for my sisters wedding this year. And I'm vibbing for this pack.
This may be the smoothest wedding from this pack
I found it hilarious that she called Vixella Vixsmella and barely anyone caught it💀💀that's a cute friendship
backyard weddings are cute too if you want something simple!
I’m so excited the wedding pack comes out on the 9 month anniversary of me and my bf getting together, like how perfect is that
Instead of have an actual bouquet, I carried a wreath down the isle... and had a cheap fake bouquet to do the bouquet throw... I think 4 more family members used the same fake bouquet for the throw!
Random thought, the Sims should have added the heart bed from the Sims 2 into this pack
KAYLA, we had a quarantine wedding too and finally had wedding photos with our family and friends like 6 months later. We ALSO had pizza after.
I love how Dan, whilst editing the
video, put his thoughts on the outfit
his sim it wearing! 👍😂
I love the first dance animation, always missed that before when having a wedding. Damn it, now I want the new pack 😬😂
I can imagine Kayla talking to her wedding planner saying “come sit here… I’ll just show you what I want in the sims” 🤣
I love this series of doing irl stuff in the sims for someday lol!!
You calling us out for being nosy at the end. 😂💀 This was so fun, it was so funny watching you trio down the aisle lol.
Kayla: *has a UA-cam channel of 1.5 million subscribers and regularly uploads videos getting hundreds of thousands of views*
Also Kayla: I have to dance in front of people??? I'm not comfortable with this level of attention!
Oh my gosh this is the funniest video of simsie especially the parts with the other simmers
I’m so happy for you still! Congrats on the wedding/engagement
Before my aunt's and her husband's first dance, the groom joked about how bad he was at dancing and I think that made it feel less tense and formal for the both of them. His little joke made it feel a lot more personal, and it really did feel like him, because he was so nervous beforehand 😂
This put a smile on my face from start to finish!
My parents each had a heart-shaped cake with lavender colored flowers. Classic vanilla cake. It was nice for them.
Simsie you never post silly videos i literally love them all
Aghhh, I'm so excited, ly Kayla❤️
I love Dan's note at 4:09. XD
Don't feel pressured to have a wedding ceremony simsie, if you feel anxious about it there's no obligation to have one ! ❤
Nice ceremony Kayla. You've proven once again that weddings can be chaotic and not orderly as other GCs have said. I wonder if rehearsal events help with making the wedding run more smoothly?
Hahhah this video made me laugh so hard. Your reactions to the level of incompetence of the sims were priceless 😂😂
