Hi IRon, glad to C U R recovering from the typhoon!! Say how many breeders do U keep in the breeding tank M?F Thanks also the fish U will harvest how old and the weight or size?
Thank you. Yeah I am very happy that I managed to recover but It was very difficult. Solar panels and batteries for 3 fishponds were not enough. We dont have power for 14 days, I just pump the water using bucket manually inorder for the breeders to survive. For the other ponds I use batteries. I keep around 30 breeders on my new breeding pond. I usually harverst the fish in 8 monts, usually 3 pieces weighs 1 kilo. Male tilapia grows bigger and faster than the female.
@@ronron322 Thanks Bro, I will harvest mine soon and the fish R about the same as yours 9 months, in size and weight, raised in a tank also, so Im doing it right hehe My fish R breeding and I have some babies, if I can keep the bigger fish from eating them. Right now i have about 50 fish in the tank, will make a breeder tank soon to reduce the number of adults down to about 15 and hope they wont eat the babies as fast, any comments will be helpful!! Thanks
@@jameswojciechowski508 Its nice to know that you are also doing fine on raising tillapia. The babies will definitely be eaten especially during the night. Maybe you will need an aquarium for the babies. Mine, I just put the babies in the filter box for atleast a month to save electricity. Electricity in the Philippines is very expensive, that is the challenge in this hobby here in my country but atleast I enjoyed it.
Ron, Jim again one last question my tilapia at 9 months are around 23cm or 9 inches for tank growing, how does that campare to your fish in tanks at 8 months? Thanks
Sizes of tilapia always depends on how many times you feed them in a day and how big and effecrive is your pond filter. In my case, I usually feed them twice a day since I dont have enough funds in the following six months even before typhoon. That is why I usually harvest them for 8 months so that they are biggger. If you feed them 4-5 times a day and your filter is big enough and can accomodate their waste, you can harvest them in 5 months.
