The task: read a novel from every year of your life in chronological order with no author represented more than once.
The rules: No novel that you have read before. No non-fiction. No story collections. If you DNF a novel, you must replace it with another from the same year. You can stretch out the challenge for as long as you like and read whatever you want between novels that you tag as challenge entries.

This is a cool idea, but 57 books would be one whole year of reading for me. I’d have to be very careful with my choices.
Great idea! I was born in 69 .I.can remember my mum reading harold robbins ,catherine cookson ect .I'm going to be browsing for hours!
You’ve intrigued me. I’ve got 20 years on you so it looks like my 1st book will be “Casino Royale”, i.e. James Bond #1.
67 books for me... no, 68, because I'd never finish before my birthday! Nice idea, but there's no way I could do it.
I’m glad you can’t repeat authors or Stephen King would dominate my list.
You unlocked my curiosity with this challenge. So I googled popular fiction published in 1951. Catcher in the Rye caught my eye so I bought it. Then I searched 1952. OMG! There’s The Old Man and the Sea so I bought it. Then 1953. Gosh! The Long Goodbye. Cha-ching. 1954. Lord of the Flies added to the library. Well, it looks like I’m down for the challenge now. (And I’ve never bought more than two books in one day, either.) Thanks for the grand idea!
What an interesting challenge. I was born in 1964. It might take a few years.😂
For fun I started today with Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny from 1967. Let’s see how long I will keep up with this challenge.
Very interested to hear your thoughts on Requiem For A Dream! The film adaptation is by far the most disturbing and horrifying as well as depressing film I have ever seen… and I think it’s a masterpiece.
76, unless you’ve read all of these, should be easy: Interview with the Vampire, The Boys From Brazil, The Sins of the Father by Lawrence Block, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, The Great Santini by Pat Conroy, The Survivor by James Herbert
"I'll try to read at least one book a month."
I like this idea, I was born in 1961 so as a quick experiment I listed the books I'd like to read from the 60's and now it got my interest. I already own most of these so I'll work through and see how I feel about carrying on when I'm done with the first decade.
what a great challenge! I'm amazed that you have a book from each of those years. I'm not sure I have more than one book from the whole of the 1970s.
Ooh an interesting challenge. My first thought was to read all the Booker Prize winners from each of my 42 years
The first reading challenge that I actually like the idea of. First read for me published in 1965, Roseanna.
Y'know, I never thought about this challenge. I started in 83. That's a lot of books to dive into. But it might be fun. I should give it a shot.
I like this challenge, I'll have to do it. I was born in '79, and I've already read Kindred, so I'll have to pick something else to start off with.
That is a very fun challenge! Not sure I have that kind of span to fit every year, especially without repeating authors or books I haven’t read yet. I’ll have to skim my shelves! Hope you enjoy all of the ones you’ve got picked!
Absolutely love this idea. Back to the 60s I go 😊
Olly, this is a terrific idea for a challenge. It will take me awhile but I'll enjoy it none the less. Thank you.
