As erni fan i have to admit that i actually prefered aina's performance that night. Both were really awesome. But aina's performance really surprised me that night. I feel like watching a world class concert. Hope to see erni and aina in a full concert one day. I would pay for their amazing vocal🥰
I thought aina did a splendid job here. It appears to me (a layman, ordinary listener) that aina has a story to tell through this short peformance of 'Semalam' (not just a song to sing). And I not only understand the story, i totally empathise with the human condition involved in the story via this particular performance of 'Semalam' by aina as compared to her other performances of 'Semalam' although she might have sung much better in those other perfomances. Why? Because she sang it raw not just from her heart but from the heart of the main character of the song, the real story teller - from the impartial, quiet tones when she begins to tell the story (keeping the emotions in check) through what chase & melia called as the huge tone at the height of the story where the story tells of the pain of disbelief & loss of trust (at the betrayal of the loved one). This huge tone appears big at this pt because it does not only come in the form of a question - 'Mana . . .' but it was also sung in the form of a question. After this, there can only be a build up into loud, angry tones that can only end with the high wailing note at the end of the story/song. I can definitely feel and hear in her voice the bewilderment of betrayal; the emotional, mental & physical pain of abuse and the anger that follows all through aina's way of singing the song. It is in this way that the depth of the whole story/song is eventually revealed.
Aina has performed her best and she should have won but her competition was also great especially the 'GILA" songs sung by Kaka Azraf, Loca B and Noki. Whatever Aina remains the champion in our hearts ...

It was a tough fight between Ernie Zakri n Aina Abdul for best vocal.. but i think the judges choose ernie zakri due over aina abdul due to the controversy last year.. let’s see who wins next year..
Both are good singers but Aina is vocally better throughout her performance. Not to deprieve Erni's winning but she hit flat notes here and there especially towards the end of her performance. I think her emotion overwhelmed her vocal performance. As a professional singer and in a competition any singer shouldnt allow this to happen during their performance. If you really sing from your heart, we will feel your pain. But if you let your tears take over and couldnt control your emotion, you going to hit the flat notes and even forget your own lyrics...having said that, congrats to Ernie. Aina, you are the best vocalist of the nite.
