Kayu Sejangkal (Kubotan/Palm Stick) Vs Knife Attack.
From the 2 days Bruneian Martial Art - Silat Suffian Bela Diri seminar in Valencia, Spain on the 21st and 22nd April 2018.
Congratulations Eliakeem Silva (Club Kokoro SD Yawara) for organising and Vicente Fornes Moreno for hosting the successful event.
Thank you to Shi Ner Kan Gym, Valencia for having us.
Thank you Eliakeem Silva, Vicente Moreno and Eduardo Martin for your patience in assisting me in my demonstration and instructions.
Thank you Vicente, Jose de la Torre and Jacinto for taking me around a brief visit in the city of Valencia.
Thank you everyone that came to support the event.
Without you this would not have been possible.
One of the best fighting styles I ever seen amazing
So smooth, so beautiful, so effective and so awesome Maul, TOP!!!
this dude's moves are super crisp!
He has trained since about 12 yrs old from his grand father! About 32 years continously! He is way above the average black belt, I feel his classes are better for those who have at least a basic black belt in any art or your a natural can move fast n flexible!!! Because his moves are clock work n woven into his muscle memory through years of practice which a new bee 🐝 can struggle to follow!!! He trains Special Forces too ... very deadly!
I love the energy of your classes and demonstrations. Explosive movements, rapid fire combinations while still maintaining positive attitude.
To my knowledge, the palm-stick's origin was both from China and from Japan. In dynasty China, it was called an Emei piercer or "Wang Yi" and sometimes was referred to as a Judge's Pen or a Dart Judge Brush. In Japan it is called a "Kubotan" (Coup-Bo-Tan). While in the Philippines, they included the palm stick or "Dulo-Dulo" (Dew-Law-Dew-Law) in their FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) lessons as part of their impact weapons training for close-quarter scenarios and also incorporated it in their "Panuntukan" (or Dirty boxing) lessons.
The English word bottle derives from an Old French word boteille, from vulgar Latin butticula, from late Latin buttis ("cask"), a latinisation of the Greek βοῦττις (bouttis) ("vessel"), and I`m sure Maul Mornie can make a weapon out of it with his own silat style.
With all due respect the term Kubotan is a new term. As far as I know in Japan the term is Yawara. The term Kubotan comes from a Japanese Martial Artist named Tak Kubota that took a Yawara (pocket stick) and added a key holder to it making it a key chain holder and self defense tool for the Las Angeles Police Department that he has helped train since moving to the United States from Japan. BTW this video is very nice. I have never trained in Pentjak Silat but have had a few times been able to train in Arnis/Kali. I find the Indonesian and Philippino arts to be great for true self defense.

Thank you very much Guru Maul for the experience of this great seminar. It has been a great honor to receive your teaching. Thanks also for the patience! I hope to see you again soon! Eduardo M.
I'm always impressed with you Maul! I learned the fundamentals of some of these particular variations from Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming's Qin Na joint locks. I really love watching you and wish to train with you as well someday! Utah, USA.
Tank Silat maul will be in Minesota July 17,18,19 of 2020 right in your backyard
He turns Silat into an intoxicating and beautiful language. Many thanks for sharing.
That was just beautiful!
As expected you are the only silat practioner I've seen use the palm stick other than my first teachers. They were combat vets and skilled in silat and kali respectively.
#FMA
This should be titled "A Dozen Ways To Ruin Someone's Day." Hahaha. Hope you come to Atlanta, Georgia!
lol
Peter Marron Maul will be in Connecticut in March 7&8 and DC October 8,9,10,11 of 2020
Superb clip - and i really like the way u used the drums to point out certain moves and punches.
Thanks!
Respect to the foreigners around the world for having interests in Brunei martial arts.. and to Guru Maul, you deserve the praise and respect for putting Brunei out there. Great work. Much love from fellow Bruneian. =)
Thank you Maul. It is always a pleasure to watch these videos. It gives me a great deal to think about. It opens my eyes. Once again, thank you.
Speed, precision and power.
Very nice.
I love the fact that at the end of the video you see "Come & Experience Us" in the text. I pissed myself laughing because it really means "please come & get the potatoes kicked out of you in a fun safe environment" Bloody good work by Sifu here. If I were in Minnesota I'd look this place up.
Gabriel Johannson maul will be in Minnesota July 17,18,19
The knife throw after guys down cracks me up every time
Steven Seagal's nightmare
Maul is who Steven wishes he was, but so clearly isn't..and never shall be.
@@kobked-x truth spoken right there.
My another fav vid!
Guru Maul has to be one of the greatest of all time! Has to be!
Kevin Morley one of the greatest martial artists to get you killed by teaching you bs!! goodluck.
M Rez then make your own self defense technique don't copycat any techniques from any martial arts since all are useless for you!
@@mattjennings5864 all the things rez wouldn't dare say to Maul in a ring or on the street. haha millennial internet warriors are the best at self degradation.
Hope you have a workshop in New York City soon. Thank you for sharing Guru Maul.
To morons saying how ineffective SSBD is, Maul is displaying techniques and drills which a master can only perform with such flawless skill. This is just a video for displaying the art. Not an instructional. You have doubts, then feel free to attend a seminar and tell Maul face to face. But you're all too cowardly and would rather hide behind your computer, because you know Maul will shred you in less than a few seconds.
@Knife Nut Brainless comment
@chornahalk Brainless too
@Knife Nut Troll?
I'm really love this skills. excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video. Your movements are so fast it’s hard to see what you’re doing. But I’m learning still. Really appreciate your channel for displaying such great flow and training videos. Will you be in Maryland this year, I would love to come see and experience your way of Silat. Thank you again for taking the time to share. 👍👍
Guru Maul, that was AWESOME! Thank you
Maul Mornie... In John Wick 4!!! Awesome!!!
He will b a very dangerous spy agents
✏✏✏✏
John wick ✏✏✏
Wow, that is a very fast flow of strike. I don't know if I can execute it as fast or as accurate as Guru Maul.
Amazing martial art. Thank you for that video.
Yes that is a very useful technique, but in reality the person who attacks you will be a very aggressive person
Nice as always, Come to southamerica!!!
Great video! I notice your palm stick has a paracord wrap? can this be unwound to allow for flexible weapon techniques similar to the sarong or scarf along with the stick techniques? I made a palm stick for myself with holes drilled along its length and a paracord wrap, This allows it to be used as a normal palm stick ,or with a finger loop for retention or with the cord unwrapped and used for flexible weapon techniques( the stick assisting in leverage). As always great videos!
Pure physical genius!
Absolutely awesome video!!!
Awesome as always sir
Muy buenas katas, el silat es un excelente arte para asesinar, pero se ve muy irreal para una situación de calle donde te toman por sorpresa o bien en un combate donde el agresor hace movimientos erráticos y a ritmos distintos, se ve bonito eso si
Excellent as always Guru!
the greats malay martial arts from brunei..
Beladiri yang bagus . .👍
Hi, the magic man, great!
The warrior spirit helps to rise out of darkness; within and without.
Absolutely awesome!

jmr296260 maul will be in Connecticut March 7&8 of 2020
Luar biasa guru maul
Sifu Mornie is amazing in his demos
Wow.. beautiful move...guro maul..
BEST OF THE BEST
I have seen people using half meter stick but this only a span of hand this is a new hope because global elite forbade all citizen using weapon for self defence even a small knives and they have machine gun
Awesome.much respect
As Salam Guru, klu ada bukak cwangan di miri sarawak mmg join.. Insha Allah.
Nice moves.... 💪💪💪💪
Firstly, I do appreciate for your effort promoting this wonderful and practical martial arts from your country. Secondly I would like to ask if you have your students or any center in Finland, I would like to learn eventhough I feel old for this practice but still I admire it. Thanks
If I wanted to go to Brunei to learn Silat, how would I go about it?
Ty for another great video.
Thanks for this amazing video, i need the music in this video
Saw you were in Copenhagen at some point. Would have loved to meet up and do a collaboration video. Love your viciously creative (or vice versa) martial flow! :)
Next October!
Kubotan is the most realistic weapon in modern era, and totally legal! We can use pen, key, and others fit to our palm, we can also use it to self defense, and for kid to protect them self against bullies
The rest is how you train to use it.
In the Philippines we called that dulo dulo
Come sempre spunti molto interessanti!
Love it!
Super impressive and fast !!!!!
Many moves are very close to Aikido though.....
Where can I learn this style in brooklyn Ny or manhattan ? Tks
Wow the movement so beautiful
in some Malay language, the weapon is called pasak
Most Fantastic. Any plans on being in Indiana any time soon? Would love to be at one of your seminars.
They must trust him very much. He comes extremely close to seriously hurting them.
Amazing Silat moves you should come to Las Vegas and teach.
* Sinner * maul will be in in the states in 2020 March Connecticut,July Minesota, San Antonio in August. Oct in Washington DC. Right in your backyard choose one of them
This is so similar to Kali with the flow and extensions. This same weapon is called Dulo Dulo. FMA has it as double points to inflict more damage. I will share however that Silat is more dynamic compared to Kali but the similarities are there.
Silat, kali, arnis, kali, panantukan etc..etc..those are share the same root. descend from the malay peoples combat art in southeast asia archipelago.
On front line much harder yes .40bl.on back work .instror .
Please make it a mission to come out to Hawaii. I am a great fan and practitioner of Silat, Kuntao & Kali Sayoc. Kona would embrace you.
the way the mic's set up it sounds there is an accompaniment of drums
Yea, right
Why isn't he a hollywood star ⭐ yet?
Beautifull !
Why not the octagon?
bagus saudaraku
Where can I get the knife your partner is using for the drills at the beginning?! Aesthetic as hell
Waiting for the “this would never work on the street or against an mma fighter” comments
Can you show us tactics for ground fighting
Guru Moul, cuba gantikan kubotan, guna pencil atau pen.
You have orbs flying all over in this video. I do or did a lot of paranormal research when I was younger. And I would love to investigate your school for paranormal activity. It might explain why you are so superhuman lol
maul this was fantastic
Many martial arts knife defenses predicate upon the knifer using single lunges with the knife-holding hand. But watch the American movie, "American Me", a scary fictional tale of a former gangbanger in a California prison. Knife attackers lunge and overwhelm the victim with a jackhammer approach of fast, multiple stabs to the abdomen with a possible finish-up slash to the neck or throat. Knifers don't leave their hands extended, typically. I don't say never, they could, especially untrained persons who would use a single stab or especially an overhand stab. But the professional knifer would tend to go in with the machinegun approach of multiple bodily stabs within just two or three seconds. That has to be incredibly difficult to counter. The best approach would have to start with situational awareness, knowing that guy is going to come at you with a knife so it's time to turn around and run!
WOW VERY NICE
WON........ DER.......... FULL
OH J'ADORE
SUPER
Yeah ok very beautiful and badass, except for the fact that a villain will not wait for your order to wield a knife against you and most of all he will strike fast and not gently accompany the knife towards you...
Yes yes... every martial arts should look like Krav Maga... I get it.
@@Maul565 nope. Every martial art should like... an actual martial art, where the enemy tries to hurt you and not to accommodate your conuters.
Great video. I don't know anything about Martial arts. I'm Just a wannabe. But I wanna learn just for the Sport and to be prepared. Could you do a video with the attackers going at full speed. Thanks you with a Like and Sub.
Looks nice but my only question is if works in real life? Otherwise wasted of time.
Mr M i think you are looking for Krav Maga.
The only way to know is to pick up a knife and attack him. Let us know how it ends up.
Dawud G Delves good idea, but make sure u have a good health insurance, doctors waiting to rush u to emergency. If Maul has a good mood that day.
If he has bad mood, make sure u choose urself a nice tomb stone before the fight.
Mr M make your own self defense sys but don't copycat any techniques fr any martial arts since all are useless for you!
@@delvesdg Not a good idea mate
Great.
lagu intro ni sekali je saya cari dn jumpa... skrg ni cari x dpt..ada tajuk dia x cikgu maul
I would like to watch you sir maul to teach using keris art. 😁
Jgn lah semua bg tunjuk dgn dorg... Takut nnt senjata makan tuan...
Thank you so much for sharing!! :-)
Granted true knife attacker...or serious ones I should say. Don’t reveal the knife where you can see it. They reveal it by sticking it in you when you’re not looking at their hands. So this would really only work on someone who’s charging you. But still. Much better idea than trying to wrestle or box someone who’s attacking you with a knife
Keren guru maul...
Can you do some drills where someone is actually stabbing and slashing you in real speed
Win you get scread and counting on non aminsa and black deal .not happen fight over hq boss as dudes .have work .qules how to .
Nice
Question seen you slap back of opponent's head during many of your counters, to what purpose?
Distraction
Actually you could just punch, since it a demo probably for safety measure
Various motives, confirming distance and feeling where the opponent leans toward with his mass , possible attack point.
