This is one of the hardest songs to cover, because it's very difficult to find the right balance - to make a song your own (because copying Freddie is impossible) but without taking it too far. Tommy managed to find that balance in a most magnificent way, imo. Best cover of this song I have seen
Tommy is a musical genius, thank you ❤ And the details Tommy always adds, playing the song on the piano just like Freddie Mercury did and using a six pence like Brian May, as seen in their Live Aid gig.
You gotta have balls to cover Queen and doing this anthem you got to have at least 3. Tommy killed it as usual, I dont know how many times I have said that, this was his best cover but thats how a genius work. Who else but Tommy can do all those harmonies on his own. yes nobody but Maestro Tommy! Thanx Tauri.
Yes, Tommy is amazing. This performance with all he does is so exciting to me. I feel like I am watching a world class Olympic event that only Tommy can do ❤🎉
Tommy’s back, and that is fantastic! Thank you for a great reaction! I totally agree with you in thinking that Tommy is an incredibly talented musician. I really like that he makes this iconic song his own, but with respect to and the spirit of the original! How I have missed his amazing voice and guitar playing❣️
I heard this cover for the first time yesterday and was thoroughly impressed by Tommy Johannsson's range of voice and the easiness with which he pulled this off. It's just plain awesome. Totally agree with you.
Beautiful video! But does anybody now what he emphasized by the colour transition? In his 'I'm Still Standing' the colour changed from black to white when the tempo radically changed.
Transitions between white and black usully means life and death in our days. Brides wearing white maybe to celebrate future life and if somebody dies you wear black when in sorrow. But thats not old traditions, only some 150-170 years. Also in music there are colors W/B when somebody marries its fast in Major key like here comes the bride and if somebody died its slow music in Minor key.
Hi Pernilla! I just wonder if it is that Tommy makes the REALLY serious parts black and white and gets into colour when he goes into full blown goofy ( in this song a bit Wayne’s world) Tommy mode and have fun with it ? .. he did that in I’m still standing .. and I sort of get the same vibe .. but this time he switched glasses for head banging 🤣
I have seen it, countless times. I fell in love with the song when I first heard it on the "Once" album in 2004. I have lyrics to the song on my upper back.
Power Metal, just has that go. Now Tommy, can play all, I myself used to be a dirty skate punk and metal kid in the 90's. ADV: we lived life CON: scars on our legs, arms and knees. Positive; Learned never ask society to conform to you, if you can, then you are in power. Negative: The peps who took over from us demand a lot from society. In T2 terms, not good. I never liked power metal until recently. so what. I don't ask society to change for me
Thank you ❤ Amazing Tommy ❤❤❤❤ the Best Amazing artist ❤❤❤❤❤

Hi Tauri for me this is the best cover since the original. As you said Tommy has kept close to Queens, but he still has made it his own Amazing.

Interesting Pernilla
@@tammy5938 I wonder what Tommy meant to illustrate with it, this time around?
Pure estetics? Or did it symbolize something?
I need to pay attention and go back and watch again.
