Hello jet. Did you have your broker before you shipped out or after you got to Jamaica?
@@collinlewis5315 you will need to have it lined up before you get to Jamaica. The broker will be the one that your shipment information goes to from the overseas based broker and shipper.
Oh wow! What a production. I looked up furniture and stuff prices in JA to compare to what you paid & they seem pretty comparable.
@@triffinabrown5017 thank you. 😊 yes the only difference I’ve found is the quality of some of the items here are not as good as things I’ve imported. That would be my only concern.
Jamaica is a rip off. It's such a shame
Very informative thank u
@@mindgamemuzik1189 thank you for watching 🙏🏾
Still don't see the name of your brooker as you said you would put it there
It is listed in the description for the video.
Thanks for sharing all the details of your process
No problem. Hope you found it helpful. 🙏🏾
Very detailed video. Thank you
Thank you for your feedback and for watching. 🙏🏾
Thank you for this great video, it will really help me on my move internationally and shipping my goods abroad. Wishing you the best life in Jamaica!
You are very welcome! Happy to help! 🙌🏾
WOW
Amazing video, very informative.
Thank you for checking it out. Happy you found it useful.
Did they charge any extra money because of the value of the item
No they did not. I had my returning resident concession paperwork that gave me an allowance for the items I was bringing in. If I didn’t have it then I would have been charged.
Awesome Video great detail explanation of shipping a container i have been searching UA-cam for a video like this with great details and you delivered on both part one and two nice to see a young professional being Jamaicandoingyour thing am proud. 👏 Am planning on doing the same once my house is finished building . 🙏👍Can you please do a Video about digital Nomad Jobs I will love to find one since am planning on relocating there am a Registered Nurse.?
Thank you for checking out the videos and your feedback. Happy I am able to help. 💜 that is exciting that you will be able to come back home 🇯🇲 and you have a home 🏠 ready for you. You already a head of the game. 👏🏾 I can definitely share my digital nomad experience, I am however in a different field. I am not sure about remote work when it comes to the nursing sector. I know one of my cousins would love to know the same thing you are asking, so I’ll see what I can do. 🙂
My dilemma is my husband and I are totally confuse as to where we want to live. Country or Kingston. There are so many nice places to live.... Kinda blow my mind .
Lol sounds like you have an easy dilemma then. Yea there are nice areas in both. Just have to find the right speed for you, because they do bring a different vibe in each.
Did you send items above the allowable limit? Did you find that they searched the container fully to find those extra items to apply duty? For example 4 TV instead of 3. Or to see if you brought building material. Doing a RResident container next month. Thanks!
Hey @coreyMPA… I really tried to stay within the limits of the entitlements. They did strip it pretty good from what I saw when I received my items. I don’t believe they were able to go through everything but the big items did get checked for sure. However unlike the other shipments I’ve done this is not a process I got to observe. I do know that having a great broker made my process easier and as fast as it could have been during that holiday week.
@@jetsettingwithjackie OK thanks...I'll report back on what happens I guess lol
Did you pay cash in Jamaica to the broker?
Payment was made with cash and card for different parts of the process.
Thank you sooo much both of your videos were detailed and informative. Thank you again for the time you put in
You are so welcome! 🙏🏾
Thank you for these videos. I did the same move but from Orlando
You’re welcome. Hope your experience was much better.
Your video is very informative, thanks for sharing , I admire a strong black woman.
Thank you @seymour
the fees is how they make their money so they do take their time to process everything it seem, awesome video Sista bless up.
That’s true!! And thank you for watching.
@@jetsettingwithjackieI just came back from Jamaica. I went to furniture stores and appliance stores to see what is available. Every thing in America is there. It doesn't seems cost effective to ship stuff there considering the cost and hassle.
Hi Jackie. i got a serious question. My parents returned to JA from the UK. If i am born in the UK, can i go live in JA as a returnee and get the same returnee benefits?
Hello @duke I am assuming your parent(s) are Jamaicans. If that is the case you can get your JA citizenship through either of them. Once you do that you can go through the returning residents process. I’m currently working on something for Returning Residents. Will share more closer to the end of the month.
I now have my citizenship and a TRN No. but I don't sure about the process specially as I was born in London. I'm ready to ship just need to know if I can do it as a returning resident @@jetsettingwithjackie
Ok I understand; send me a email jetsettingwithjackiet@gmail.com.
Great video! I thought the fees would have been way more!
Thank you! Yea they definitely could have been worst.
Hi Jackie love your content very helpful. Did any of your items got damage during shipping?
Hello Handymom1966
Thank you for watching. Nothing really got damaged during the shipping process from Miami to Jamaica. I believe the items that were damaged happened during the transfer from the storage to the truck and during the packing for the container.
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
@@jetsettingwithjackie yes to many
Based on the cost of all of the fees, would it have been more affordable to just purchase all the items there in Jamaica (even though the quality may have been a little different)
Hello…for some items yes and others no. It is almost for certain better to bring the items in with your concession if you have high value items that if you were to purchase here it would be almost double the cost.
Let us know how your furniture holds up in Jamaica. Due to the weather leather have a tendency to strip due to heat and appliances tends to rust. The ones imported by stores there seems to last longer.
My furniture is holding up well. It’s been 2 years and they are still in great shape. I also do not have any leather furniture so I can’t speak to that.
My appliances are still in almost new state. The rust mainly come into play when you are closer to the sea as far as I know.
Extremely helpful!!! TY!
Happy you found it helpful!
After clearing in Jamaica,is the container yours?
@Raquel no it belonged to the shipping company so it went back to them.
I am making plans to move to Jamaica at the end of 2024. I have already purchased astic containers. They are large totes, 40 gallons each, and they have wheels. I only am taking 8 totes. Everything else I am selling. Even with this I have been quoted $1000. Tell me...what do you think? Will these be excepted and is that price for real? I would love to speak with you about all that needs to be done and in what order. Oh a list would be so helpful.
Hello @edie944 that’s awesome and exciting. I’ll be rolling out something in the coming weeks for this. You can also reach out to me via email at jetsettingwithjackiet@gmail.com
@@jetsettingwithjackie i most definitely will. I am a 60 year old lady and ready to enjoy the rest of my life. I will email you with loads of questions. Hope you don't mind mentoring an old lady.❤
Ms gorgeous jackie
you're very pretty thanks for this vid
No problem 😊
Good day to you, and thanks for the info. Did you ship a car, and if not, would it have cost more if you did? Im about to file returning residence myself, and i need to know if i should ship my car along with my other belongings.
Hello… I purchased my vehicle in Jamaica. It all depends on what vehicle you have as to what it would cost to import it. You do get an import tax break as a returning resident that may be beneficial to bring your vehicle to Jamaica. I was already living there prior to completing my returning resident process. So I was not able to benefit from that tax credit at the time.
THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SHIPPING COMPANY IN MIAMI?
No problem... Seaboard Marine was the Shipping Company I used.
❤❤❤#Blessed
Great video! I am curious becuz I do not know...but with all that money you spend which seems close to $10,000 est...do you think it would be cheaper just to buy everything I would need in Jamaica Or you think it was worth spending the money n any issues you went through?
Thank you for your feedback and for watching. I would do it over again just with some adjustments this time, knowing what I know now 🙂. The quality of the items (electronics, appliances etc) that I have is much better than what I would get here in Jamaica. If I were to by the same thing here the cost with taxes/duty would be more than what it cost me to ship. So it all depends on what you are shipping and whether the quality is of importance to you.
@jetsettingwithjackie GOOD to know...Thank u sooo much again! I am definitely considering moving back home hopefully by next year 🤞, so I appreciate the information very informative👍 lol...just need to find that perfect 1+ acre Lot🙏 hopefully in a couple of wks..... Again, thanks for responding.
@@shana2cute22 No problem 🙂 Good luck with Everything. I'm here if you need assistance.
Would you say it's easier to ship crates and barrels and leave large furniture behind?
Hello @nature calm... It woul depend on how much you have, if you believe the cost to ship and clear outweighs what you would be able to find and buy here in Jamaica. Personally, I had quite a bit of things and I also like the quality if appliances from the US vs what we have here in Jamaica. For those reasons it made sense for me to ship my items. If I did not have the returning resident concession it would have made me think a little harder 😊
@@jetsettingwithjackie Thanks! I will look more into it. I don't have a lot of things, so hopefully it won't be that difficult.
No problem… Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.
@@jetsettingwithjackie cool👍👍
Did you buy a house or are you renting?
I started out renting and then purchased.
