Man and his GIANT Toy Boat - GAS Powered 48" "ROCKSTAR" starts after 4 years Sitting Idle

- This mega behemoth of a boat is called the "Rockstar".. and I have owned it for more than a 1/2 decade. For the last 4 years.. it has sat basically idle.. not seeing any water. Today that will change. The 2 Stoke Gas powered engine is only 26cc, and at top speed (stock) this boat can only go about 40mph. Slow, many will say... and I agree. In todays standards an electric, 6s 22.2v Lipo charged small boat can KILL this larger boat in speed - but there really need to be something said about the nuances of running, tuning.. and dialling in a gas powered engine. There is always a risk that you will find yourself stranded in the middle of a pond, or lake with a gas powered engine.. but the sound, the smells.. and the brute LONG Run Time a gas tank can give the user is unlike any other experience.
This boat is no longer available.. and was discontinued years ago. Thankfully I have this one.. because I really do enjoy taking it out on an open pond to have a good rip! I ran my HPI BajaT last summer after it sat for a couple of years. I charged the receiver pack, mixed up some fresh gas and It fired up. I was very surprised!
I grew up on a lake in New Hampshire. My neighbors brothers hobby was gas RC boats .he would make the hauls himself and everything. Nothing came close to waking up on a Saturday morning to the sound of those nitros ripping up and down the lake

Don’t know what is so captivating about rc nitros, but there’s Nothing like it.
Nitro will always be my favorite, hands down. The smell of it & everything.

Did the same to my blackjack. Sat for 5 years. I started it up ran it for 2 seconds then sent it straight to redline limiter. Just thrash the crap outta that engine dont even let em warm up!

Older gas cat from Proboat. It was 55 inches long. They also made a nitro version that was 26 inches with a Dynamite .15 engine, later version had a .18 engine.

Sweet boat, i have a Dumas scarab 55" i put an echo string trimmer engine in about 15 years ago. It wouldn't turn worth a damn so i made a steerable outdrive for it. Still has the clutch and rubber engine mounts, lots of fun. Spins a 3" prop at about 12000 rpm.

And I loved all the multiple camera views, the FPV was by far my favorite, made me feel like I was driving the boat myself.

You should make some buoys to race around on the pond. You'd need anchors, something as simple as a rock would do for that. The buoys themselves could be ballons or maybe something made out of styrofoam. And you'd need some rope, or string that you can easily adjust the length of. Don't want lose rope floating in the water. You'll want it to be tight so the buoys don't wander.
