Overdrive Awakener doesn’t work with Shards. Also Nesting Dovehawk doesn’t populate shards unless they’re a copy of a creature. So with 2 Nesting Dovehawk shard copies they can copy each other and because copiable characteristics, layer 1, only include printed characteristics, you end up with 2 more Nesting Dovehawks that don’t revert back to shards at the end of turn.
It still does not work cuz shards are not transformable tokens, for a token to be able to transform, they already have to have a backside, like incubate tokens

Thing in the ice will not instantly transform if the shards become a copy of it. You still have to cast an instant or sorcery to make them transform.
True, but it is only 2 to activate Niko and most instants that I'm running are 2 or less. So not a very large investment for a really powerful effect.
