    This one indeed sounds like the video you would make after spending an afternoon troubleshooting a project...

      I spend a lot of time on this on one of my first projects.

      One time i was raging very badly, so i just soldered a thing directly (temporarily)
      Flashing raw esp8266 via uart to be exact

    I’ve made the mistake of forgetting to bridge and spending 30 minutes troubleshooting before noticing

    Not all though. I've had breadboards with broken paint lines and still had power down the whole rail. I forget who it was but they suggested to test all new breadboards so I do.

      I think I better check my breadboard for that. Sounds like best practice.

    Yooooo, that explains why my current almost never worked when I used those, and no one saw it necessary to put that little detail on the box the board came in 😭

    These split rails really helped me when i was building circuits with op amp and +12v -12v

    More important question: Why do breadboards with continuous red and blue lines still have a gap in the power line holes? So often I need to move my entire project by one hole because it doesn't line up properly.
    (See 0:07 for what I mean)

    • @matambale
      @matambale 3 роки тому +6

      not only are there gaps every five holes, the power lines are offset by 1/2 a gap width.

    This fact done me in for over an hour one day! For the life of me I could not get the circuit to work, redid the entire circuit again and still nothing! Grabbed the multimeter checked a couple of points......DOH!!

    I spent like 2 hours. Then I realised that. I wasn't even mad. I was able to run 3.3V 5V 12V and 9V. Ingenius.
    But yeah these breadboards could've been better if supplied with those bridges

  • @two0ort

    cool thing with the different voltages, but cant you just use another power rail by connecting it to the other rail or taking two from a small one and repacing the loong one with the small ones?

  • @Bapate-rh9be
    @Bapate-rh9be 8 місяців тому

    I thought all of the 5 hole elements areseparated and implemented jumpers to connect them all together over the entire length of the board befor even trying to use it the first time. I will separate a few of them and check wether there is still contact.

    Good thing I got my big breadboard from dad and it had all the gaps already bridged 😅
    Probably would've made the mistake at some point otherwise

    The example of 12V and 5V is bad because there's already 2 rails
    I'd've added 3.3V

    Is there a way to electrically bridge the gap? I have an arduino uno and i have an air valve. I need the valve to open and close on a timer. But it needs 5V and when i try using the digital pins to send electricity over. Its not enough. I know it works as i tested LED's on it. But i guess the digital pins give out 3v and not 5v. Any way to make them 5v?
