  • The Story of Eastman guitars
    Eastman thinline guitars are handcrafted and lacquered - the way they ought to be. They have a warm, rich tone and feature premium pickups from the world’s finest manufacturers, meticulously selected for maximum character. The instruments in our Thinline Series - whether featuring solid construction for the warmer, fuller tones or laminate construction for those times on stage when things need to get louder - possess unique characteristics made possible by the differences in body style, tone woods, construction, and size.
    Eastman skills in hand-carving tops and backs are apparent in the selection of our archtop guitars. The result: some of the most coveted and beloved archtop guitars anywhere. By sourcing premium tone woods and putting them in the hands of luthiers dedicated to producing guitars via the time-honored process of hand-crafting fine instruments, Eastman has in fact become nothing less than the major force in archtop guitars. We are proud to offer the broadest range of traditional and contemporary premium archtops available today. Browse our Archtop guitars.
    This line of guitars is built on a mix of time-honored craft and ahead-of-the-curve thinking utilizing classic technique with a decidedly fresh approach. It is designed to make such a rare and labor-intensive feature more available to guitar enthusiasts, with the proof in the distinctive look and sound.
    The process itself, features six distinct steps starting with a basecoat application to fill the grain, then moving to color application, and concluding with a French polish. Ultimately, three or four coats of material are applied and sanded thin. The result is softer than lacquer, creating a smoother tone.
    We have also added Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers or Antiquity P90’s, TV Jones brushed nickel classics, and aged Gotoh hardware to make it possible to own a brand-new, vintage feeling, “antique” instrument fresh out of our workshop

    I bought a T386 today, what a freaking good axe this is! Fretwork is perfect, ebony fretboard polished and black without streaks, overall finish without flaws.. I am more than impressed, sounds great, plays like a dream.. played three Gibsons at the same store today and went home with the Eastman, nuff said..

    This guitar ROCKS!!! But it also covers fingerpicked acoustic-style songs great on the other end -- it's the most versatile electric I've ever played (and I'm a HIGH-END guitar guy). I tried a gazillion Gibson ES-335s and related guitars -- including Collings semi-hollows - and MUCH preferred the Eastman T184MX! I had to be sold on it, because, I've owned some of the most expensive guitars in the world, but the sales guys at the Music Zoo were so in love with the Eastman Thinline series I had to try some. Just bought the T184MX and I couldn't be happier. The workmanship and sound beats the pants off the competition!!! (In answer to someone below -- it's got a small block under the bridge but is otherwise hollow.)

    are you sure those are not the seymour duncan seth lover pickups? the website says the 59v comes with those and the t486 comes with jazz and 59 seymours...

    So what exactly does runnin the strings through the hardtail bridge backwards do for you exactly? My Eastman t486 classic is being built for me currently, so excited!

      @Erik_Nordlund 5 років тому

      Aaron Brooks Looks like it’s been a while since you asked, but it reduces the break angle of the string over the bridge, which is supposed to make it easier to bend. I’ve never tried it personally, though

    hows the neck feel? A lot about parts and finish but the most important aspect is neck feel and shape.

    • @Techiastronamo
      @Techiastronamo 4 роки тому

      I own one of these, the neck is extremely smooth and a good shape for my relatively large hands. I play cello first and foremost so it really fits well with how I position my hand on the neck. I highly suggest you try it in person, as you should with any guitar really.

    Just picked up a T386 with Seth Lovers fitted. Shits all over Gibson in every way. Totally amazing guitar has totally revamped my thinking of Chinese guitars I was very dubious but the T386 is best guitar I have ever owned and I've had Gibson 335s all inferior to the T386

    • @auchlowtrus9300
      @auchlowtrus9300 6 років тому

      I've got a T184MX and it's nearly hollow with a small "tone-block" supporting the tail instead of center block down the middle... Apart from regular blues stuff, I like playing feedbacky Phish on it and it's probably the closest and best quality equivalent of Trey Anastasio's Languedoc (you can wait for 2 years and pay $12,000 to have one of those made)... the thing comes alive when cranked through a King of Tone + Compressor. Anyway, The T186MX is just a bigger version of the one I have (I think 16" across while mine is 14" across)

      Gilles Hageman he made it clear in the video that every guitar is hand made and unique like a custom shop guitar. I think that’s what he meant.

    I live in the USA, and was told that the electric guitars that I like, are made by hand in the USA. Perhaps y'all, living in Europe, Eastman Guitars are made elsewhere??????

    • @Techiastronamo
      @Techiastronamo 4 роки тому +2

      I'm in Pensacola Florida and they are featured a lot in our stores here. The more I play different guitars, the more I realize the origin really doesn't matter. I honestly much prefer this over any american-made guitar I've played so far, except maybe Billy Corgan's signature American strat which is definitely worth its price. Fact is, the guitar you like to play is a good guitar, no matter what someone else has to say about it. One of my favorite guitars is actually a "knock-off stratocaster" from Spectrum guitars, picked it up for $200 and after changing out the tuning pegs and doing some basic setting-up, it's a real fine guitar and can take a beating and I love the tone. It doesn't have much sustain but the neck is one of the best I've felt out of MANY different guitars, it really tears the idea that origin or price matters down into shambles.
      tl;dr- origin and price really don't matter, try it in person and buy what you like because the only good guitar is one you like to play.

      Yes.. I've noticed that too!! ,it comes across as very fake or its like they feel the need to be unnecessarily chaty just for show when it's not needed at all as is quite annoying especially all the fake laughing!!🙄,my guess is they're just not comfortable in front of the camera and it's maybe a nervous reaction that's done unintentionally,
      Anderton's UA-cam channel are brits aswell and do the same thing although one guy is Dutch, he suffers the same affliction, maybe he's living in the UK too long, who knows.. 🤷‍♂️

    I say "no" to Chinese guitars.
    And here's why...
    A guitar (a good one) is a personal thing. It's something that a true song writer and/or musician uses to convey their most intimate of emotions.
    Creating and playing music is a passion and a guitar needs to literally emit or reflect that passion depending on how you look at it.
    Now think do China. What words come to mind?
    Communist, suppressed, capitulate, drones, peasants, peons, corruption, lies, defeated, compliant, obedient. (I could go on).
    They allowed themselves to be enslaved by a representative system of government. They've sold their souls for a few extra scraps of bread and a pat on the head from big brother.
    Now ask yourself this:
    Do I want my passionate musical instrument...my guitar....to be made by soulless, complacent drones?
    Or...
    Do I want to save your money for a couple of extra months and buy a nice American made guitar?
    Made by somebody who loves music and their craft?
    The Chinese manufacture can probably mimic the sound and feel of an American hand made guitar, but it'll never be an American made guitar. It'll always be something built by communists in a foreign land. And that's the difference.
    You think about it. The choice is yours. Do you want to be proud of your acquisition or not?

      Try this: spend some time in another country then re-read your statement and replace "China" with "America" and "America" with the name of the country you're in. I think you might be surprised at how many of the words you used (even the downright offensive and incorrect among them) can be applicable from a safe vantage point outside of the country you're ragging on. China has and is doing some pretty awful things, but if you can put hand on heart and say that your own government is squeaky clean then my friend you must read more. However, this isn't really the point I want to make. You just insulted a bunch of outstanding craftsmen that you've never met: shame on you.

      Excellent craftsmen live all over the globe brother. Germany and Italy being one of the best so how you figure China does not? Come on man!! Take the Politics out!!
